Featured, Interviews | FNT Catches up With Ferry Corsten at Electric Zoo 2013
Posted by Spice on September 10, 2013
The FNT squad caught up with perennial trance king Ferry Corsten on Friday before his Electric Zoo set — and as always, Ferry had lots of excellent insights into the state of trance, what’s in store for the the scene, and (of course) his buddy Markus Schulz. Before doing anything else, including reading this interview, check out his set below if you missed the vibes. While he played a solid mix of new stuff (including his forthcoming track), he also dipped into the archives and brought out a few vaunted members of the old guard — like 2009’s “Beautiful,” an insane bootleg of the ever-funky “Praise You” by Fatboy Slim, and of course recent Beatport-topper “Gouryella.” And let’s not forget his recent collaboration with Giuseppe Ottavani, “Magenta,” which is certainly old at heart.
Featured, Interviews | Alesia talks Bird Machine, Filet Mignon, & More!

The first day of EZoo, the FNT crew got a chance to link up with the French duo Alesia, also known as Nicolas and Lemuel, who just finished spinning their set at the OWSLA vs Boys Noize tent. This was a first for both to be spinning at a festival in the US, and New York out of all places. You might not be familiar yet with the name Alesia, but chances are you’ve heard their trap hit “Bird Machine,” which they co-produced with DJ Snake, either at a festival or on your television screen. The track is currently being used on a Target commercial! With how things are going, you’re going to be hearing a lot more from them in the future, so keep your ears out!
Check out the teaser video they released for their time at EZoo, look out for Alesia at Tomorrow World on the OWSLA stage, and read our interview after the jump!
Hip-Hop, Rap | ChristianDeeLA – “Thurzdey.” (Prod. By Canis Major)

Louisiana MC Christian’Dee make his debut on FNT with “Thurzdey” produced by Canis Major. I’ve been following this MC since I was introduced to the NWLA movement by the homie Joe Cool. One track I fux with hard from Christian is a video he dropped a couple months back “Yo Rappin Ass” I’m not sure if “Thurzdey” will end up on his project “Subtle Weekends,” due for Winter release, but either way Christian’ smart but real rap is refreshing, and exactly what the game’s been missing. If you’re a fan of Logic, Devin Miles or Tayiib Ali, you’re going to like Christian’Dee. Stream this record, and get familiar with the movement! Must Listen!
Electronic, House | Rasmus Faber – Indian Summer feat. Frida Sundemo
Posted by mimada on September 4, 2013
As evening approaches over here in the land of the tall, blonde and beautiful, I’ve got a spectacular view out my dorm room window of the sun setting in the horizon. Inspiring, to say the least, to watch it while listening to one of my latest discoveries. Now before I give that away, let me tell you I love house just as much as the next frat star but there comes a point, not just for house but all genres, where everything honestly starts to sound the same. I was worried I had reached that point until I stumbled upon Swedish producer (there seems to be a lot of these floating around FNT lately…), Rasmus Faber. And his latest release, titled “Indian Summer” featuring fellow Swede Frida Sundemo stands out to me the most. Like many a great progressive house tracks, it has the heavenly vocals and pulsating beats but instead of the overused builds and drops, Rasmus provides us with a “musical landscape of meandering and looping piano.” Not bad, right?
As I writer I do my best to share my own unique feelings, but considering my circumstances, the track’s description really nails it on the head for me:
Indian Summer evokes lazy, sunny days of happiness, yet with the imminence of autumn comes a slight sense of foreboding and melancholy that is ever-present in Scandinavian culture. Enjoy the last few rays, the swan song, the gentle passing of time as thoughts look to the future and what could be!
Will do, Rasmus.

Featured | Ayah Marar talks working with Calvin Harris, The Real, & more! (FNT Exclusive)
Posted by VMan on August 29, 2013
Last week, I had the pleasure and honor to roll with UK artist Ayah Marar on her first US promo tour, promoting her chart topping single with Calvin Harris “Thinking About You,” off the double platinum selling album “18 Months,” and her debut album “The Real.” Ayah and I had a chance to sit and talk regarding her career, working with Calvin Harris, how “The Real” came about, and what we should expect from her in the future.
Personally, I’ve had “The Real” on repeat since I was introduced to it. The album is the fine line between underground music and mainstream music, and what’s great about it, is that it’s done organically, and not forced. My favorite tracks off the album would have to be “Beg Borrow Steal,” as it has big vocals, and an anthemic sound, and the titled track “The Real.” Her track with Calvin “Thinking About You” is also a banger! Click past the jump and read all about our discussion with Ayah Marar regarding her debut album, and how she ended up featuring on one of the biggest album of the past 2 years, along with Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Florence, and more!
Chill, Indie, Progressive House | Ianick – Run Out of Steam + Color World
Posted by Mel on August 28, 2013
Ianick is a 20 year old producer from Norway and this is his big debut on FNT. He has been relatively quiet in terms of releases for quite some time now but he has made up for it with a slew of new tunes today. He is primarily a progressive house producer, but the two tracks that stood out to me were of the slower, atmospheric progressive type. “Run Out of Steam” is the extra that didn’t make it onto his Nostalgia EP and is free for you to enjoy. It is the more easy going track of the two I’ve chosen and was a nice surprise to come across. I had only heard of his commercial stuff before this, and it was good, but after listening to this it shows that he is capable of producing outside of that comfort zone.

“Color World” is actually a cut off his EP and therefore is not free. Sorry. I gave the EP a listen and this is my favorite song off of it so I figured it was worth sharing anyway. It is more upbeat and fun than the previous track, providing a nice contrast between two well executed styles.
