Hip-Hop | J. Cole – Grew Up Fast (Prod. by Canei Finch)
Posted by Grubeats on February 22, 2012
Cole took to his twitter to release a free new joint entitled, “Grew Up Fast” earlier this morning. No word whether or not this is the official single off his sophomore album which we can expect this upcoming summer, but Cole unleashes some steam and shares his two cents on what’s happening to hip-hop.
Hip-Hop | Devin Miles – 412/215 ft. Tayyib Ali
Posted by Grubeats on February 22, 2012
Pittsburgh native, Devin Miles, was fortunate to have a chance to grab a verse from Tayyib Ali who was breezing through the studio. Representing their respective area codes, Devil Miles delivers a strong first verse before the prince of Philly comes in with an impressive verse of his own. Lot of talent coming out of PA these days. Just to clarify, several blogs have labeled this track as Tayyib’s, but in fact it is Devin’s with a feature from Tay and will not be featured on any of Ali’s upcoming projects.
Videos | Timeflies Tuesday – Alcohol
Posted by Grubeats on February 22, 2012
How appropriate for a Fat (Timeflies) Tuesday. Nah, that’s not a fat joke. Res samples the shit out of Jamie Foxx & T-Pain’s 2008 smash track, “Blame It” amping up the BPM’s and adding his own signature sound. Are there any other artists that bring their recording equipment behind the bar and are able to freestyle all about the world’s finest hard beverages? If there are, show me now. Timeflies is on tap, enjoy this one people and be sure to check back for more spring tour dates being added daily!
Albums | B.o.B., Ester Dean x Nicki Minaj
Posted by Grubeats on February 22, 2012
B.o.B. released another single off his sophomore album, Strange Clouds, due out May 1st. Some of you may be getting your fair share of warm weather already and even us New Englanders are having one whacky ass winter, but this Ryan Tedder produced hip-poppy jam will have you rocking your swim trunks and FNT tanks in no time.
Purchase on iTunes: B.o.B. – So Good (Prod. by Ryan Tedder)
New drop from Ester Dean (the newest signee of Roc Nation) featuring a nice verse from the always reliable Nicki Minaj. These two have a short, but triple platinum, record on their resumes as Nicki’s “Super Bass” was one of the top songs of 2011. I think what Ester is trying to say is, hop on iTunes and buy my single.
Hip-Hop, Videos | Maye Star – The Takeover [Video]
Posted by Grubeats on February 21, 2012
Maye Star unleashed the second single off his upcoming mixtape, Mayehem, scheduled to drop sometime in April. Backed by some light brass, soothing strings, and melodic keys “The Takeover” gives us an introduction into what we’re about to hear from Boston’s own Maye Star. Maye exercises his ability to rattle off words at a very fast pace, which is something I’d love to see Maye do more often. #DreamTeam

Hip-Hop, Videos | Logic – The Spotlight [Video]
Posted by Grubeats on February 21, 2012
At this point in time, there is nothing better than new logic in my eardrums. Taking a detour from the first single off his upcoming mixtape (still untitled), Logic has some fun going in over the Justice sampled track, “D.A.N.C.E.”. When I heard Wale go in on this beat a couple years back, it’s since been a staple for any party playlist I compile. With an infusion of electro and disco, Logic (being a fellow DMV artist) maintains his lyrical aggression delivering a sequence of lines that you’ll be reciting for days on days on days. It’s cool to see Logic switch up his sound from his previous single, “Young Sinatra III”, which was a very raw sounding hip-hop track, but maintain his consistency at the same time.
I’m warning you now kids, you’re witnessing the birth of hip-hop’s next star. Being featured in XXL Magazine’s “The Break” just yesterday, this kid’s going to be everywhere before you can spell “Bobby Soxer” backwards. If you’re not with the movement, join in below and make sure to check his previous single YS3 after the break. The mp3 will be released once the video reaches a certain number of views. V’s up. #Visionary

Pop | Rihanna – Birthday Cake (Remix) ft. Chris Brown
Posted by Grubeats on February 21, 2012
It was inevitable. After circulating rumors that CB and RiRi were back drooling over each other after last week’s Grammy’s, we knew a remix was coming. Yesterday, Rihanna’s birthday, likely shocked fans worldwide when she released the official remix of “Birthday Cake” ft. two verses from her assaulter himself, Chris Brown. In addition, Breezy released a remix to “Turn Up The Music” featuring the world’s most desirable woman, Rihanna. Whether or not these two are sitting in the tree together for a second run is still uncertain and only time will tell.
Hip-Hop, Pop | Paz – One Hundred ft. Tayyib Ali
Posted by Grubeats on February 18, 2012
First time I’ve heard the name ‘Paz’ who appears to be a pop artist from L.A. with a generous buzz. Our boy Tayyib delivered a verse for this new track, “One Hundred” which will be featured on Paz’s upcoming mixtape, Young, Broke, & Famous 2. Tayyib flex’s on the beat with confidence rhyming about keeping it real and steadily bringing in the benjamins. Paz holds the hook down with his smooth vocals and mainstream sounding rhymes. I’m surprised I haven’t heard of Paz before, but I think it’s a name we’ll be hearing more and more in the near future.
