Chill | “Goldskies (Dreadhauk Remix)” Proves You Can Mix Heavy With Chill

Posted by on June 9, 2016

Goldskies is a song that was remixed again and again. Now that a pause has come, “Goldskies (Dreadhauk Remix)” comes off particularly refreshing. Dreadhauk isn’t afraid of going into unknown territory when it comes to producing his tracks. “Goldskies (Dreadhauk Remix)” is a bullseye example of this.

Dreadhauk latest remix is a deep house / chill tune at it’s core, but carries this raw synth layer that fits surprisingly and gets better with each listen.

Four months after Slander drops their iconic track “Breathe”, the duo follows up with a euphoric remix of Kill The Noise’s “Kill It 4 The Kids.” The track is introduced by a beautifully reminiscent piano bit, which quickly transforms into an empowered build-up. Chopped vocals accompanied by a familiar lead in the background drive up the energy of this track leading into a drop that can only be described as “Dirty.” Slander has proven once again that they have become a master of high-energy production… and with this latest remix, they don’t disappoint.

“For this song we wanted to create a dynamic piece with a subtle intro building up into the heavier side of our style. We hope you guys enjoy it! Massive thank you to Kill The Noise and OWSLA for this opportunity.” – Slander

Albums, Hip-Hop, Rap | Atlanta Native, Kelechi, Drops Debut Album “Before The Quarter”

Posted by on May 27, 2016

Sometimes you hear an artist and are 7-seconds into the first song, you’re on to the next. Sometimes you hear an artist for the first time and are instantly drawn in. Whether it be the beat, their flow, the lyrics or the message, sometimes you just get that feeling you found something special. A few years back I stumbled across STNDRD, a hip-hop duo out of Hotlanta. Kelechi & Phay, two very talented artists were the talent behind the label. They were clearly motivated (as I quickly confirmed after seeing and hearing “We Want It All“). They were cultured and proud of their diverse backgrounds. They were confident, fun, and full of energy. Most importantly, they could RAP.

Fast forward 2 1/2 years, both artists are still representing STNDRD, but pursuing parallel solo careers. Kelechi was the recipient of $50k after being recognized as the winner of Green Label Sound’s “Open Call” contest. Identified as one of the next talents on the brink of explosion, Kelechief invested that nickel lump right back into his debut album, Before The Quarter. Making valuable industry connections and cosigns along the way, Kelechi has been earning his key and building bridges along the way. “Before the Quarter” is Kelechi’s breakout. 10 tracks, from raw to delicate, Chief flexes appropriately, but never lacks a message. Enjoy the album stream and cop your own copy on iTunes if those first 7-seconds hit you like they hit me.

Everyone needs to go thank Kap Slap right now because the man just dropped the tune you’ll have on repeat all through summer. “Felt This Good” is a ‘feel good’ track featuring M. Bronx on the vocals with a beautifully crafted piano based drop with electronic glitch elements sprinkled in. I’m so thrilled this is finally released because I’ve had this track stuck in my head ever since I first saw Kap drop this live at his show, then in his spring break mix, and finally when he released the preview late last week (so when you’re singing the hook throughout the day don’t say I didn’t warn you). “Felt This Good” is out now via Ultra Records so be sure to grab your copy now and give Kap Slap a <3 on HypeM here!

Two Australian groups, Rachel By The Stream and Men Imitating Machines, recently teamed up for a track called “Crashland”, creating some playful, electro dance-pop sounds. While the original was great on its own, the remixes breathe new life into the song. Ampro out of Norway & Australian beat-maker Kayboku both share their take on “Crashland”, with each interpretation being as unique as the original. Each remix pays homage to the original while adding unique electronic and tribal sounds to the track, creating something that is both moving and dance worthy.
