Deep House, Exclusive, Featured | FNT Exclusive: Raik ft. Henri – Hold Me (Henri Remix)

Posted by on January 20, 2014

Raik ft. Henri - Hold Me (Henri Remix)
Talented singer / DJ / producer / general do it all musician, Henri was featured on German producer Raik’s recent EP “Hold Me”. The title track was a solid, deep effort, but seemed to need a little something extra and in stepped Henri to take the reigns. It is not common for the featured vocalist to remix their own song, but here it works and brilliantly. Fluttering plucks accompany a soft bass line and chords, all held together by the hypnotic vocals from Henri. You can grab the original on Beatport here, but we recommend you get the Henri remix for free exclusively through us right now.

Chill, Electronic | Japanese Wallpaper – Breathe In (ft. Wafia) [Daktyl Remix]

Posted by on January 2, 2014

For those of you who are also trudging through a foot of snow just to get their car this week, this summery tune is a breath of fresh air. Daktyl’s remix of “Breathe In (ft. Wafia)” by Japanese Wallpaper is melodic and relaxing. Chopped vocals fall gracefully over low bass as this chill track takes your mind deep into thought. The tones definitely make listeners feel as though they are walking on a beach. I’m jealous of anyone who can right now. Grab this mellow tune for free below!

FYI, Review | Dillon Francis’ Merch Table is Possibly the Best Thing on the Internet

Posted by on December 17, 2013

Okay, so for those of you who don’t already know, aside from being one of the most talented, Dillon Francis (AKA DJ Hanzel) is hands down one of the funniest, most creative artists in the industry right now. Whether it’s reenacting scenes from Adam Sandler movies, casually handing out free tacos for DJ awareness, or just making jokes that nobody entirely understands, this guy really does come up with some of the most hilarious (and weirdest) things you’ll see on the internet.

Now, I’m sure many of you saw the (almost uncomfortable) video below of Dillon and 12th planet playing out the scene from “Ghost” where Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore sensually make pottery together:

This clip came up in a conversation I had with a friend the other day, which then prompted us to revisit what other crazy stuff Dillon will do for money. Of course, under the category “Awesome S**t” on his merch website, we found a spectacular collection of things he’ll do for dollars. Some of my favorites include DJing a Bar/Bat Mitzvah for 15k, becoming a vegan for a year for 40k, and joining the US Army for $1,000,000.

Here’s where you come in. I’m pretty sure a lot of us don’t have $40,000 just lying around (unless the Rich Kids of Instagram want to throw down); so if we want one of these things to happen, we’re going to need to work together. I’ve started an online fundraising campaign HERE so that we can do it. In two months we’ll count up how much we have, and buy the best one we can. At the very least, we’ll have him tweet a randomly selected FNT follower. The person who donates most will win a special FNT prize. Let’s go one deeper and get some DJ Awareness going!

Don’t forget to follow Dillon on his different social media outlets – you won’t be disappointed.

Events, Preview | Flosstradamus & Alex Young @ The Warfield, 12/20/13 (UPDATE: SOLD OUT)

Posted by on December 14, 2013

Flosstradamus

If you’re out in the bay for the holiday season, then you need to find yourself a ticket to Flosstradamus’ performance at the Warfield on 12/20. Of course, these guys are some of the OG trap artists who really helped the electronic sub-genre take flight, and if you don’t live under a rock, they probably don’t need much of an introduction; however, one of their opening acts for the evening who I do think deserves a little more love (though he has been getting some serious props recently from major players across the industry) is Alex Young. If you haven’t already heard of him, here’s why you should get excited about his set next Friday:

alexyoung

Alex is definitely a unique artist in the game right now. At just 16, this kid’s already played for thousands of people at multi-day festival events, and he’s not even out of high school yet. With a youthful perspective backing him up, his sound embodies a versatile dynamic that has the power to make you get on your feet and go crazy, or just mug it in your car while you throw your seat back, one hand on the wheel; even though he won’t be – he just started driving. There’s clearly a lot of energy coming for this guy, and if you can, you’re going to want to try and catch some of it in San Francisco. If you haven’t already, check out his latest track “SWTRWTHR” that premiered a couple weeks ago with a free download. Don’t forget to snag a ticket from stubhub or elsewhere – it’s sold out! Come get based with us.

PS – stay on the lookout for an exclusive FNT interview with Alex, coming soon!

Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Glitch, House | Joe Ford – Culture EP

Posted by on December 9, 2013

Joe Ford - Culture EPJoe Ford is one of the hottest names in bass music right now and the majority of the population doesn’t even know it yet. After his last successful release this year, “The Mission” EP, it comes to no surprise that he has yet again dominated with his “Culture” EP. Joe Ford kicks off this fresh EP with the title track “Culture”. This song is a behemoth, it is like Joe Ford thought to himself “Build up? Nah, I’m going to rape my fans in the face with my opening track on this release”. The waves of bass on this drop are ridiculous, I feel like my ears are being beaten to death by the lightsaber mach 1. “Distilled” tones the EP down a little… just a little. The track brings in the ever growing neuro-hop styling, bouncing you through some great kicks with the addition of that lovely flavor of reese-bass. As a gamer, this is the kind of track I’d want to be blasting my through hordes of noobs with.

I can see “Immobilise” being the theme of a fast traveling Spaceship being chased by another which is firing upon it, weaving in and out of asteroids with the occasional collision. If Michael Bay’s taste in music was worth anyone’s time, he would consider “Immobilise” for a space-flight scene in the next “Transformers” movie. Now, imagine a universe where Lex Luther kills Superman, Cell obliterates the Saiyans, and the Avengers perish at the hands of Ultron. Unopposed, “Villain” would be the track played as these cocky evil doers decimated our planet. If villains actually won, this song would be perfect, but considering they never do, we will just have to sit back and bump out to this badass tune with our imaginations.

Last, but not least we see the return of Asa on yet another EP ender with Inspected. “Real Talk” isn’t the kind of track we have been seeing throughout Joe Ford’s EP, it is the end of the story we have been listening to. “Culture” started us with the intense game changer that set the premise, “Distilled” the attempted fight through the initial bass threat, “Immobilise” the fight to the death, and “Villain” the defeat and utter destruction of what is left. Last, is the calm after the storm, with those left alive wondering what else is to come, the “Real Talk”. This is one of the best works I have heard all year, Joe Ford just set the bar.

Indie, Progressive House | The Colourist – Fix This (The Chainsmokers Remix) [Preview]

The Chainsmokers continue with their rapid pace of releases with a remix to The Colourist’s “Fix This”. It has a similar same vibe as many of their previous indie-house tracks but instead of the light, cheery sound that is usually a custom to them, it has a bit of a darker tone. It is an official remix but the label told them they didn’t want the song available for sale or free download so as of right now, it is streaming only.
