Everyone knows that the amount of plain black or white v-necks an artist owns is a direct correlation to their production prowess, which is why it makes perfect sense that Marcus Santoro practically lives in v-necks. He has somehow managed to hold himself back from taking pictures of his dog and laptop screen long enough to release a couple of tracks for free. The first one being his remix of Strange Talk’s “Picking Up All The Pieces” that he completed some time ago but because of complications with labels and, of course, Avicii, it is just now seeing the light of day as a free download. The second is a new original done in collaboration with fellow Australian producer Djuro.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Logic – Walk On By (Prod. by C-Sick) [Music Video]

Posted by on February 25, 2013

This morning I watched legendary blogstar and hip-hop mogul, Elliot Wilson, share his picks for the XXL Freshman 2013 cover.  Let me start off by saying Elliot is a legend. A role model for any blogger.   Poseidon to a sea of blog minnos.  I’ll follow that by noting the fact that he, and many other well respected industry names, have either bypassed Maryland’s young prince or have not yet opened their ears to him.  While Trinidad James is poppin’ molly, Logic is in the studio working.  While Gunplay is rambling about getting locked up and blowin’ snow at 16, Logic is meticulously lining up bars in the studio.

“Who woulda thought that painting pictures of being broke would get me rich as like dealin’ coke” – Logic

Peace and positivity is what Logic stands for.  Under that umbrella, Logic emphatically delivers some of the rawest lyrics I’ve heard this decade.  “Walk On By” marks the first official single off his highly anticipated senior mixtape due out later this spring. Visuals by GRVTY (of course) and production comes from Logic’s Chi-town brother, C-Sick.  As  expected, this new cut will leave you dissecting lines longer than Gunplay’s morning…well, wake up line. Enjoy and expect a HUGE year for L-O-G-I-C. #VMG

Mixtapes | D. Tucker- Somewhat Good Is Okay Vol. 2 (FNT Exclusive)

Posted by on March 1, 2012

FreshNewTracks.com is proud to exclusively bring you D.Tucker’s sophomore project, “Somewhat Good Is Okay Vol.2”. This 23-year-old alternative hip-hop sensation, founder of the YachtLife (Young. Ambitious. Creative. High-standard. Talented. Lifestyle.) set sail in the Bahamas and made his way to Miami where he currently resides. Earlier this week, I asked D.Tucker about his first project, what his goals where, and what philosophy his music was guided by. He replied:

When I recorded my first mixtape I was at the end stage of switching my career from a professional photographer into a full time alternative rap / hip-hop artist. I was excited to be utterly focus on, SGIOV2, painting my stories of love and ambitions for YachtLife. As an artist I want to continue to push my creativity to make better work and ultimately make me the best me that I could be. My new fans will eventually learn that I take my craft serious and I work my ass off to better myself for a number of reasons other than kicking it on the beach with in my Sperrys, with Stellas and models. I want to inspire people, make them feel good and let them know that they can do anything that they want to when they put their mind to it with some good work ethics. To say it again in simple terms, I want the people to know that life become a non-stop vacation when you make your passion your profession.

Indeed, this budding artist is doing just that- relentlessly chasing his dreams with an unwavering vision. If D. Tucker continues to drop projects a strong as this mixtape, I predict he’ll be on a Yacht somewhere off the coast of San Tropez in no time. I’ve included my favorite tracks below as well as a download link to the entire project. Hit “read on” for the tracklist.

Hip-Hop | BLU & EXILE – Give Me Flowers While I Can Smell Them [Full Album Stream]

Posted by on December 19, 2011

Blu is the most under-rated rapper of his time and one of the very few still left painting this language with color. Blu, if you let him will amalgamate your thoughts together for an explosion of sophisticated wisdom, a firm reminder that we haven’t lost all our lyricists just yet. Hip Hop has been consumed by senseless lyricism, candy electro beats and worst of all – generations to come have only this garbage to draw inspiration from. Artists such as Blu fly so far out from the boundaries of mainstream music, they occupy another dimension of lyricism. They remain significantly unknown because there’s not enough of us to relate to such genius, only few are privileged to know it exists. Moral of the story – it takes one to know one.

Now what should deeply astonish you is the relevancy of this video above, not only does Blu rap but he’s also a phenomenon in motion art. That video is one of his many masterpieces symbolizing his godlike patience. One of the best videos you will ever watch in this lifetime, I guarantee it.

Dubstep, Electro | Rey Marrasquin

Posted by on July 28, 2011

Being a blogger is often a thankless pursuit…I spend hours a day hunting around for the newest tracks to fuel your fire and often times the only feedback I get are comments from haters who are ohhh so quick to point out my few mistakes. Even so, every once in a while something pops up that really ignites my blogger fire. This week that something happened to be a someone, Rey Marrasquin. Rey has been taking tracks that he has found on FNT and using them to inspire his artwork, and not only that, Rey has put together timelapse videos of himself painting thee pieces. I am no art critic but I do think I have an eye (and an ear) for creativity, so I can confidently say these videos are definitely worth a look.

Electro, Events | Glitch Mob Summer Tour

Posted by on July 5, 2011

FNT was lucky to kick off the 4th of July weekend at Red Rocks, CO with 4 hours of freeform jamming and headbanging bass. MiMOSA started the crowd off with an amazing set, stringing pop and dub together seamlessly. The crowd hyped, Lotus kept up the energy with the kind of epic, hour-long jam sesh Red Rocks is known for. But the thousands of fans had only been warmed up, for The Glitch Mob’s amazingly well-prepared audiovisuals. Seriously. It looked like Cirque du Soleil had decided to choreograph a show to the Mob’s hard kicks and monstrous synths, painting the canyon walls in an ethereal mix of colors and dancing shadows. After witnessing them absolutely crush Red Rocks, we aren’t going to miss them in Dallas tomorrow, make sure to check out their tour dates . For those of you who haven’t had a chance to experience the Mob, check out some of their most recent drops below and grab some free downloads on their facebook.
