Chill, Compilation, Cover, Indie, Reggae | Cris Cab – Live…In the Moment (Free Album)

Posted by on August 26, 2012

I’ve been a fan of Cris Cab ever since I first saw his covers over a year ago. It’s crazy to see how far he’s come. He’s one of the most talented singers right now, in a genre that is largely over saturated, Cris finds a way to stand out and be unique. Today, he gives us a free album full of high quality live versions of his set from a show down in Miami. Wyclef Jean makes an appearance(and drops an insane freestyle) on “No Woman No Cry,” although I’m not sure who sounds more Jamaican…Cris does a damn good Bob Marley. Throughout this entire compilation, you can feel the passion and hear how Cris effortlessly works the crowd. A true artist can record AND perform. Cris Cab is a true artist.

Hip-Hop, Videos | QuESt – Chase to Nowhere [Music Video]

The young Miami rhymes-man delivers an introspective visual treatment for “Chase To Nowhere”, which was featured on his most recent mixtape, Fear Not Failure.  Recognizing at times his trip may be disgruntling and appear as a chase to nowhere, these are the cards he was dealt and no matter what adversity he faces, music is his destiny.  QuESt has once again proves his consistency with another strong representation of his powerful lyrical ability after delivering another promising video for “I Go, You Go” less than one month ago.

House, Preview | Swedish House Mafia – Don’t You Worry Child (Radio Preview)

Posted by on August 10, 2012

After the success of the Milton Keynes Bowl, delivering the great trio’s final release, we now have a much better preview to tease our ears with. Not to be that guy, but this tracks instrumental is scary similar to “Save The World.” (Waits for target to be painted on the back of head) Being their last release, this track will undoubtedly top all music charts anyways. One thing that stands out more than anything is the lyrics that Swedish House Mafia have laid over from John Martin. If anything, vocalists are the reason that no one really seems to care how similar instrumentals are to previous releases. Look at David Guetta, he has practically made a living off of that production style.

I know I strongly come off as a hater of Swedish House Mafia, but I am just disappointed that Gemini seems to never be releasing his remix of “Miami 2 Ibiza.” My second defense is that this last release I love listening to way more than “Save The World.”  There is no official release date yet, but myself and many will over play previews until that great day.

Hip-Hop, Videos | QuESt – I Go, You Go [Music Video]

We’ve posted QuESt a couple times in the past, the first being when he dropped his most recent mixtape, Fear Not Failure.  Here we have a new video from the Miami native, which can be found on that mixtape, which also includes features from Logic and Mickey Factz.  As a bonus, I’ve added in a record that didn’t make the cut for Fear Not Failure, but definitely deserves a listen.  In other news, QuESt just finished his stint on tour, opening up for Logic and Tayyib on the VMG tour for the first few shows, so I think it’s fair to expect more collabs from the two in the future.

Dubstep | Stephen Swartz – Bullet Train (feat. Joni Fatora)

Posted by on June 30, 2012

I rarely post dubstep, but when I do, it is going be great and most of all melodic. Starting with a build of sweeps similar to Bassnectar’s “Magical World”, light guitar chords and Joni Fatora’s gracious vocals, the song then moves into a break of grungy synths to give you your bass, hard snare, and melodic violins to help carry the melody. This one was crucial to get me through the work week and I think will be great for you as well. This is Stephen Swartz’s first release so I cannot wait to see what comes next from the young U of Miami student. Download for free below, or get it on iTunes.

Moombahton | The Very Best — Yoshua Aikuti (Nadastrom Remix) // Nadastrom “Moombahton Massive” EP

Posted by on May 10, 2012

Nadastrom. My dudes. Moombahton has come an incredibly long way in the past three years, but had Dave Nada not hopped on the decks at that fated house party in 2009 we wouldn’t be talking right now. We love our moombahton here at FNT, so it seems only fitting now to take a moment to check in with the genre’s originators — who have big things in store for us in 2012.

To say that Dave Nada and Will Nordstrom have been busy lately would be an understatement. Their Moombahton Massive brainchild — a wild local dance party that has blown up venues in Miami, Austin, and Chicago — has officially gone international. They just kicked off a North American tour. Their record label, Diabluma Sound, is set to launch on May 22. And on top of all of this, they’re still hard at work. They recently dropped a compilation “Moombahton Massive” EP on Scion A/V in conjunction with some well-worn names (Sabo, Steve Starks, and JWLS), which highlights the genre’s funky, sexy, global roots. The EP is free (!!) and you can preview and download it here. They also just released a feel-good yet positively haunting remix of The Very Best’s “Yoshua Aikuti,” a catchy-as-hell song we suggested could be poised for a global takeover when the video dropped back in April. Nadastrom’s treatment is subtle, chilled out, and a wonderful showcase for Esau Mwamwaya’s soaring vocals. Want to inject some new flavor into your iTunes rotation? This is just the stuff.
