 RECAP VIDEOS: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

Being from Colorado I went into SnowGlobe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe, CA a bit cocky thinking it would be impossible for me to get cold but the first day proved me wrong. Despite being bundled up in huge down jackets, the entire crowd was amped and ready to rage. We got a late start to the first day and walked-in mid set with the crowd in full force already with Minnesota throwing down. With constant top-notch releases from Minnesota all year I was really excited to see him live and he didn’t disappoint. Next up was the first night headliner, Wiz Khalifa. I was following Wiz’s Tweet’s and Instagram’s and he was not ready for the cold but he didn’t let it hold him back. The crowd exploded as he opened with Black and Yellow and he kept the energy the entire time playing all his big hits. The stage set-up was incredible and watching Wiz live surrounded by massive pine trees and snow coming down was surreal. Wiz ended earlier than the schedule indicated and we rushed to the shuttles because we had to make it back for the after party. The after party that night was what I was most excited for because Seven Lions was the headliner. Kill Paris was slotted to play before Seven Lions but unfortunatly he got stuck in Indiana and wasn’t able to make it. The set up in the hotel was one of the most awkward setups I’ve ever seen, it felt like high school prom gone EDM but that wasn’t going to hold us back. Seven Lions was without a doubt the best performance of the night and he will soon be at all major festivals. One of my favorite songs ever is his Florence and the Machine – Cosmic Love Remix and he dropped a great version of it and I guarantee  anyone who didn’t know who he was before the show was googling him immediately after. He exceeded my expectations and make sure to add him to your “MUST SEE” list.

House, Videos | EDM Video Roundup – September

Posted by on October 4, 2012

After doing a roundup for August, we are back to give you the best EDM videos from September. We start off with the video for Madeon’s “The City” that involves an intense chalk fight between two sides in an abandoned factory area. This video must have been a blast to be in and really needs to be recreated in real life. It emulated the colorful twists of Madeon’s nu-disco sound. We continue after the jump with more from Lazy Rich & Chris Lake, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Thomas Gold & more.

House | Madeon – The City

Posted by on August 27, 2012

To add even more to this loaded music monday, Madeon decides to drop his new single “The City” that he has been teasing with a release in the US for that past few days. It was premiered this past weekend by Annie Mac on BBC Radio One after an official preview a few days before. He is fresh on the heels of his 18th birthday and his massively successful single “Finale” that may be his best effort to date. “The City” brings us back to his french disco roots, where “Finale” had a bit of an edgeier sound with some elements of DNB. Zak Waters provides vocals on the song that Madeon has said is the favorite track he has done, which says something considering the quality in his discography with “Icarus” “Finale” and the plethora of quality remixes. While I do not think this is as good as “Icarus” or “Finale”, “The City” is still a very good track and we can only expect more great things from this young prodigy. News on worldwide release tomorrow and on Beatport shortly.

Featured, Review | Lollapalooza 2012

Posted by on August 14, 2012

As a first timer at Lollapalooza, nothing could prepare me for what I witnessed last weekend. 3 days worth of 100,000 people, 130 acts, 8 stages and one astounding Chicago skyline adding the finishing touch to every night. Lollapalooza 2012 reeled in artists from almost every possible genre of music and every corner of the globe, with a crowd of all ages that was alive every second from start to finish.

Friday welcomed the weekend with open arms and clear skies. Perry’s Stage, known for featuring electronic artists, was stripped of its roof and enlarged to accommodate the recent growth of EDM fans. With artists such as Madeon, Porter Robinson, Zedd, Nero, and Bassnectar all in one day, it’s no surprise the stage and entire surrounding area was packed to the brim. Of the most memorable, 18 year old Madeon managed to squeeze in every one of his crowd favorites, from “Finale” to “Pop Culture” in one hour of solid fist pumping, while the underrated duo, Nero, blew the crowd away with their “Feels So Close” remix and “Promises,” featuring live vocalist Alana Watson. For the more laidback audience, there was Passion Pit, M83 and The Shins, never failing to deliver an uplifting show. And for those who just wanted to get down, Wale, Black Sabbath and The Black Keys finished off the day, rocking the night away into the after shows, which kept the music going across town until 4am.

Events, Review | Identity Festival Philadelphia 7/29 Recap

Posted by on August 3, 2012

Identity Festival made its triumphant return to Philadelphia with a quality lineup for all tastes with the likes of Arty, Madeon, Noisa, Excision, the master Eric Prydz and more. Though the lineup may not have been as stacked as last year as booking fees have risen astonishingly high in the last year, causing ticket prices to go even higher (or the other way around, chicken and the egg) the lineup was still very good and Identity Festival is going to provide an excellent show with outstanding visuals at a great price. It is something that we are seeing less and less these days.

The day started off with good sets from upstarts like “The Eye” and “Le Castle Vania” and when 5 rolled around it was time for Noisa to grace the stage with their eclectic Drum N Bass style, kicking the night into full gear. Pulling from a full array of their own songs as well as Electro and Dubstep tracks from others, Noisa’s set helped bring the festival to energy level it needed to be at with the crowd levels coming to their peak capacity. Pictures are now up on Facebook. Hit the jump for more of the recap.

Drum & Bass, House | Madeon – Finale

Posted by on July 22, 2012

The 18 year old French phenom, Madeon has finally released his much anticipated single “Finale”. As we saw with the full length preview, this song has the potential to be a summer anthem. The song wholeheartedly embodies the spirit and sound of summer with its live for the moment vocal message, sophisticated melodies and attacking bass lines. Madeon keeps on getting better with each track and though it does not seem possible, one can only expect that his succeeding efforts will be even better.
