Progressive House | Morgan Page feat. The Outfield – Your Love

Posted by on July 17, 2013

morgan-page-your-loveYou know the vocals, your mom knows the vocals and there is a decent chance your grandparents could belt out a few lines from The Outfield’s “Your Love”. Morgan Page asked the London trio if he could rework the track and they agreed, with The Outfield’s vocalist, Tony Lewis re-recording the lyrics. Morgan Page makes sure to use the signature chorus as often as possible and added his own instrumental to the track, making it accessible to both DJ sets and the radio.

Could this be some desperate attempt at trying to stay relevant with the EDM generation? Maybe. Will some old school people look at this as blasphemous? Possibly, but this use of The Outfield’s vocals could expose new fans to their music and lift this track to new heights as sure sing-a-long tune this summer.

Dubstep, Exclusive, Featured, House, Preview | BeatauCue – Aeropolis + Others Remix (Preview) [FNT Exclusive]

BeatauCue - Aeropolis EP

As head of forward thinking label Kitsuné, French duo BeatauCue, are known for their funky, groovy originals and remixes that may not put them on the MainStage, but it has earned them the respect as both outstanding producers and label owners. They have given us the opportunity to exclusively preview their upcoming single “Aeropolis”, set for release August 5th on their label Kistuné, along with one of the remixes on the package from London dubstep artist The Others. The original calls to mind a bit of an Eric Prydz sound with its rolling bass line, a strong groove and punchy and unrelenting synth chords that culminate in a huge danceable drop. The Others derives his builds from the original, but true to his sound adds deep, heavy, sub rattling growls and an ominous lead to flip the script on this track and make it his own bass heavy addition. Look for these on July 29th with additional remixes from Neosignal and Slick Shoota, which you preview in the minimix below.

Art: Nocturnal by InvaeusWow, Vital Techniques never ceases to amaze me. He and Mikey B have some crazy Benga dubstep going on in this remix. I think even Benga would mistake this for his own work. London native, Ziba, has one of the most incredible voices, her voice on this style of Dubstep is a match made in heavy… oops I meant heaven. Do not let this incredible remix slip through your fingers, hit download now.

Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | Dzeko & Torres Talk Food, Beginnings, Dance Music in Canada & more in an Interview with FNT

Posted by on December 29, 2012

Canadian duo, Julian Dzeko & Luis Torres, better known as Dzeko & Torres have come a very long way since their single “Confronted” was released on Chuckie’s Dirty Dutch Digital Vol. 4 just a year and a half ago. The long time friends quickly found that working with each other would be the ideal working situation and from there it was only a matter of time before it took off. They were able to grow their profile with free remixes of Monsters and Men “King and Lionheart” and Animal Kingdom “Strange Attractor” that promptly spread like wildfire. They had a track signed to Michael Woods’ Diffused Records, a remix of Trey Songz “Heart Attack” on Atlantic Records, their collab with ANSOL, “Yeah” on Mixmash, and their most recent release, their “Hey EP” on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak imprint.

However, their biggest success was with their remix of Chuckie’s “Who Is Ready To Jump” that even as they said half jokingly “literally I think Afrojack’s mom dropped it”. They were able to get gigs on both sides of the Atlantic, expanding their growing influence outside of the confines of Toronto into London, Miami and elsewhere. Having just signed to AM Only and with consistent support from some of the biggest names in the game like Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Chuckie and others, the sky is the limit for these guys. Start the interview below and check out the rest after the jump as we discuss advise they were given from another DJ, future plans and their love for food. I was talking to both of them at the same time, but it is mainly Luis Torres who was communicating during the interview.

FNT: When did you guys decide that you wanted to work together and make this official?

D&T: It actually started pretty soon after we met. We used to promote and frequent all ages club events in Toronto and we both had a love for house music (i guess people call it EDM now) and then i remember Julian went to a Tiesto show and pretty much as soon as he got home, he was convincing his parents to help him buy some CDJs. I had already been fooling around in FL Studio for a year or 2 and so we decided to start working with eachother and learn off eachother. Took about 2 years of goofing around for us to finally take it seriously though.

FNT: When, if at all did it hit you that doing this could really work?

D&T: I think originally we were just having fun, just doing it because we truly enjoyed it. I never really felt like my goofing around in FL would ever take me anywhere and im sure that Julian didnt think that buying CDJs would get him anywhere either. It took a while, but i think the breakthough point for us was when we started talking to Chuckie and he gave us a release on Dirty Dutch, which at the time was one of our favourite labels and we felt like it was massive for us.

Hip-Hop | Master Shortie – Nobody Taught Me [Music Video]

Posted by on December 21, 2012

Fresh off the release of his Studying Abroad mixtape featuring Outasight, Chiddy Bang and Ed Sheeran, Master Shortie is back with a brand new music video and song entitled “Nobody Taught Me”. The song is super fresh with an uptempo beat and a great hook. It is easily one of my favorite Master Shortie songs I’ve heard thus far. It also gives a good background on the London rapper who is breaking on the scene here in the States. Watch the video and download the song below!

Dubstep, Featured | Featured Artists: KillSonik

Posted by on September 13, 2012

KillSonik are now on their way to becoming one of London’s greatest Dubstep duos. Members, Luca Gulotta and Joe Erskine disappeared for a short time, to which it was feared they broke up their legendary group, Chasing Shadows. To the delight of Dubstep fiends across the world, the duo rose like the universe’s largest known star, NML Cygni, obliterating eardrums throughout the world with incinerating, fiery bass. As their most recent remixes have shown, everything these two touch turns to pure diamonds. Their solid, unbeatable releases have blown the minds of all who are fearless to experience a whole other level of one of EDM’s most controversial genres.

Signed exclusively to Chase & Status’ MTA Records, KillSonik’s debut EP, “Bloodlust,” dominated the Dubstep charts, showing the world that the duo was here to make an impact, and here to stay. Their most recent release, a remix of Calvin Harris’ “Well Be Coming Back” featuring Example, still resides on Beatports Dubstep Top 100 and just a few days ago, KillSonik’s sophomore EP, “Where The River Runs Black,” was announced. It is said to be releasing on MTA Records sometime this October along with their gargantuan official remix of Linkin Park’s “Lost In The Echo,” releasing October 6th. In addition to all these Dubstep releases, KillSonik has their first Drum & Bass remix of Sub Focus’ upcoming track “Tidal Waves” featuring Alpines, releasing November 4th.

There is no doubt that this year is going to belong to these soon to be tyrants of bass.

Alternative, Pop, Videos | Josh Osho – Giants ft. Childish Gambino [Music Video]

Posted by on April 13, 2012

[do action=”youtube” videoid=”qfab2CJ64mk”/]

It’s always gratifying finding a diamond in the ruff after searching aimlessly through Twitter, Facebook, and emails for hours, in search of music that is completely new to my ears.  Josh Osho is the diamond.  A 20-year old London born singer/songwriter plotting the release of his debut EP due out May 14th.  Breaking out with his first single featuring Mr. Glover as Childish Gambino, Osho’s bold vocals meet the hard bars of Bino for a perfect balance of pop, alternative, and hip-hop.
