Dubstep | R Rated #7

Posted by on December 15, 2011

Before you guys go crazy, I know this preview of Culprate’s track isn’t really considered to be “filthy”, but trust me their EP thats going to released on the 25th is going to have some sick tunes. Culprate brings something new to the dubstep scene, kind of like a KOAN Sound style in their own interpretation. As far as R Rated tracks, we have them in full force for the holidays so prepare yourself. To make up for my late post, I loaded the R Rated stocking with some extra goodies this week so enjoy.

I had to bring this dope Rob Swire remix back as my throwback this week. This track just never gets old, and it felt like a good time since Knife Party released there first EP this week as well. Rob Swire goes laying down some nice vocals, with a sick drop that comes out of no where.

Hip-Hop | Friendzone & Main Attrakionz

Posted by on December 3, 2011

Main Attrakionz mixed in with the production of Friendzone has really made for something special yet again. This duo has had the same affect on me as did Drake & 40’s So Far Gone the way each project is packaged so purely unique and timeless. Sure they may not relate but times change as do the fresh sounds we embrace, define as new, and evolve from.

Friendzone’s melodies are so incredible that the vocals tend to come partially after your ears are consumed by the lush atmosphere of his instrumentals. Its as if the beats take on a life of there own and feature the artists, truly a fascinating thing. In a lot of ways reminding me of indie how the vocals come across in a very dream-like kind of way, as if you have the option to make sense of them or not.

I’ve decided to keep this post strictly Hip Hop so I’ve excluded the tape from download simply because there is only a few tracks with vocals, and these three below are indeed the best of the best compressed out of it. If for whatever reason you require the tape drop me a line in the cbox section to the right of the page and its yours.

Mashups | TommyNicks – Country Hands (The Band Perry x Waka Flocka x Wale x Roscoe Dash)

Posted by on November 24, 2011

I know exactly what you are thinking, “Waka, Wale, & Country? I’ll Pass.” Surprisingly enough this mashup sounds great, the country beat works amazingly well with No Hands. I have honestly been kind of sick of mashups lately, everyone is using the same electro beats and same accapellas. There has just been no creativity, but this mashup is great. It is projects like this that make some people stand out from the pack.

DO SOMETHING

Hip-Hop | Johan Wedel and Motto

This video was shared amongst the FNT crew a few weeks ago. I fell in love with the track immediately, so I decided we had to have it. Johan Wedel was kind enough to provide me with the studio version instead of the youtube rip I planned to create. Although the track is only a little more than 2 minutes, it is more than worth it. I asked if he could work up an extended version for us, hopefully he comes through.

This next track is fairly simple, just an ill freestyle I came across. I call Bro Code on this one.

Girl Fire, RnB, Videos | Beyoncé ft. J. Cole – Party (Music Video)

Holy hell! I hate you Jay-Z.  When I first heard this song I wasn’t too impressed.  Pardon my mistake, the visuals add an entirely new dimension to this song.  Although it’s fairly short, Cole knocks his verse and Mrs. Carter is nothing short of great.  I’m loving the retro feel to this video, from the clothes to the sound of the track, it’s not the first track of this kind we’ve seen lately (check Elle Varner & J. Cole’s “Only Wanna Give It To You“).

In other news, one of the most anticipated babies of all time, commonly referred to as “Jayonce” will supposedly be a girl.  This really is a win win for Jay and Beyonce so congrats to them.

Hip-Hop | J. Cole – Lost Ones (Music Video)

Posted by on October 26, 2011

Above are visuals to Cole’s Lost Ones which was off his album Cole World: The Sideline Story. The funny thing about this video is that it was shot back in 2008 when the original Lost Ones was recorded, and you can kind of tell because Cole’s chin hair isn’t so long. All kidding aside, it’s pretty puzzling, yet astonishing how Cole decided to sit on such a great video for so long.

Electro | Justice – Helix (Don Diablo Remix)

Posted by on October 21, 2011

Don Diablo adds his unique touch to this Justice track and give it a kind of old school electro feel. Don’t ask me what old school about it, it just feels old school. Oh and if you haven’t read his bio on SoundCloud, it’s hilarious:

Some people hate me, I hope more people love me. I make music. I play music and I might have killed a man in a past life. Oh and I like desserts. I am Don Diablo.
