House, Mix | Klingande – Jubel & Musique Chic Mixtape
Posted by mimada on September 16, 2013
It’s a very rare thing to experience an artist live for the first time and immediately and unexpectedly fall in love with them right then and there. When I got the chance to see the French duo Klingande, I went in with an open mind and ended up being totally mesmerized during the entire hour and a half long set. How these guys have gone under my radar for so long, I’m not sure, so I’m thrilled to be sharing them now. Their live set was by far one of the most energetic I’ve seen yet this year. Imagine: Big Gigantic meets Disclosure, with a twist of that upbeat nu-disco from the likes of Dimitri From Paris. It was the perfect medley of funky jams, house, and indie electronic, which sounds like a crazy combination of everything but I promise, these guys make it work. And you better believe there was a live sax player rockin’ out up there, too.
Their first track I’m sharing, titled “Jubel,” seems to be one of their most popular tracks around these parts. It’s a got a great, vivacious melody, delicate vocals and a super groovy appearance by the sax.
This second one is a summer mixtape they produced for the French music blog, Musique Chic, which gives a much better feel for what their live set was like. I’ve had this one of repeat for days now and would encourage you to take advantage of this free download as well.
Looks like these Frenchmen have yet to make their way to the states, so for now, keep posted on their social media for upcoming releases. Fantastique ^_^

Electronic | Amerie – Gotta Work (Phazz Remix)
Posted by mimada on September 4, 2013
Unlike most girls, I LOVE surprises. And boy did this Amerie remix from French producer Phazz knock me off my feet (or swivel chair, whatever). It starts off pretty trill and then about a minute in… well, I don’t wanna spoil the treat. All I can say is you better not pass on this soulful free download. Browsing through some of Phazz’s older tracks you might find that not only are they all free as well but they’re actually all very dope. In fact, the name should ring a bell if you’ve been on top of your music blogging game. So check it ~

Chill | Bondax – Giving It All (French Kiwi Juice Remix)
Posted by VMan on August 24, 2013
French Kiwi Juice is that dude, anything he remixes, you can be sure is going to hit the spot! With that said, the producers from the UK, Bondax, called upon his services to remix this gem “Giving It All.” The drop around 40 seconds has that signature French Kiwi Juice feel, with a funky bass, and a light guitar layered with soulful vocals. If you’re looking for that cool track for your Saturday, we got you. Unfortunately no free download for this one, but stream at will. This track reminds me a bit of Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice,” let me know if you hear it.
And if you’re just getting acquainted with the French producer, listen to this tune “So Much To Me,” you’re going to be converted!

Electro, House, Videos | Stromae – Papaoutai

Stromae, the Belgian producer that was slept on until Kanye West rapped over “Alors On Danse” and the track went viral, dropped an awesome video for his track “Papaoutai.” We haven’t heard much from the Belgian producer since the release of his first album “Cheese” but I am glad he released this single as a follow up to the album. “Papaoutai” is the right song for the summer, with that island sound, full of energy, and perfect for the clubs. For all you French speakers, notice the clever play on words with the hook “Papaoutai” phonetically sounding like African dialect, but literally translating to “Papa Ou T’ai” or “Dad Where Are You” in English.

Dubstep, Exclusive, Featured, House, Preview | BeatauCue – Aeropolis + Others Remix (Preview) [FNT Exclusive]
Posted by Middy on July 10, 2013
As head of forward thinking label Kitsuné, French duo BeatauCue, are known for their funky, groovy originals and remixes that may not put them on the MainStage, but it has earned them the respect as both outstanding producers and label owners. They have given us the opportunity to exclusively preview their upcoming single “Aeropolis”, set for release August 5th on their label Kistuné, along with one of the remixes on the package from London dubstep artist The Others. The original calls to mind a bit of an Eric Prydz sound with its rolling bass line, a strong groove and punchy and unrelenting synth chords that culminate in a huge danceable drop. The Others derives his builds from the original, but true to his sound adds deep, heavy, sub rattling growls and an ominous lead to flip the script on this track and make it his own bass heavy addition. Look for these on July 29th with additional remixes from Neosignal and Slick Shoota, which you preview in the minimix below.
Electronic | Tune In Crew – Cumbia pour la Sixième République
Posted by Spice on June 28, 2013
Our favorite politically minded French producers are back with some funky cumbia for your ears — just in time for summer heatwaves and the Fourth of July. This track has an undeniable throwbacky quality, along the lines of something that might be playing during the opening credits of a Quentin Tarantino movie. I blame the guitar riffs. And who ever thought those Latin drums would marry together so well with French? While the sample in “Cumbia pour la Sixième République” is technically advocating for change in France’s democratic institutions, you’ve got to love revolutionary overtones when Independence Day is on the horizon. (Refer to the description on Soundcloud — Google translate if you’re like me and working off of rusty college French.) Vive la République!
