The remix master, Chi Duly, drops his latest killer masterpiece on us. After Duncan Sheik released the debut track off his album, his manager reached out to the remix god Chi Duly to put his own spin on it. Shout became the first single and it’s currently making radio rounds on the adult contemporary circuit. I don’t quite know how involved I am in the “Adult Contemporary Circuit” but what I can tell you is that this track is extremely pleasing to the ear and is something you’ll want to have in your iTunes. Up and coming artist Konec, has just released this one of a kind remix that was a part of MUST DIE!’s free album on Dim Mak records. Starting off with almost a Trap sounding intro, this track soon picks up the pace into a heavy growling drop accompanied by epic melody afterwards. This track is a great download to get your Saturday rolling.

Being an avid promoter of all Chicago music, this brand new album from Kids These Days was a must post. Their sound is so different and unique from other bands and groups, and it works. TrapHouse Rock marks the Kids’ first LP, which even garnered some production from Wilco frontman, Jeff Tweedy. Halloween is not too far and of course artists have been releasing a hell-storm of tracks to suit the dark holiday. To my complete surprise, Pretty Lights jumped in on the festivities this year. With his album looming over our heads, I seriously did not expect him to release something for halloween. In this ‘mashup’ of his, he samples some good old Michael Myers. Using that day old piano repetition that can be recognized by all, but also breaking into some bass, Pretty Lights shows that even halloween can be consumed by his talents. While there is no date yet for his upcoming album, it is coming, and I can’t wait.

First off, thank you to Jabari Presents for this fantastic production.
By now, many of you have hopefully scraped the wax out of your ears and christened your drums to the incredible art featured on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ debut LP, The Heist. Yes it reached the #2 spot on Billboard, yes it sold 78,000+ units in week one, and yes the duo accomplished this all independently, but that is not why this project is so special to me and so many others. Mack and Ryan are still the kids you used to play neighborhood ball with. They’re still the guys who will shake your hand or take a picture with any fan on the street. They’re still representing authenticity for the people.
“The Heist” will be in consideration for the album of the year come December, that’s without question. What may fly under the radar is the amount of blood, sweat, tears, and man hours that went into this project by both Mack and Ryan. Lacking anything but determination and perseverance, this documentary shines light on what it means to be an independent artist working at such an eminent level. There are no handouts, no pampering, no CEO black cards. Loyalty, love, determination, resilience and passion for the art is the driver. If you are unable to see the transparency in their music, this album may not hold the same weight, but there is enough versatility on the project that you should still be able to connect with one or two records. On a final note, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will forever hold my respect. Although I’ve never met them personally, their music is honest, open and genuine enough to lead me to believe otherwise.

Genre is not a word in Aer’s vocabulary. The combination of sounds they combine always leaves me coming back for more. Their laid back sound and catchy choruses have allowed them to build up a quality and solid fan base.
