Posted by on July 28, 2020

Rising Latin-pop artist Matias has returned with his latest single “Llamas”, as well as an accompanying visual. His second drop of 2020, Matias is starting off the decade with a bang with a plethora of critical praise, in addition to a now-viral TokTok challenge for his previous single “No Me Dejes Solo”. A sensual, Reggaeton-pop hybrid, “Llamas” is nothing short of an earworm, thanks to its catchy hooks and electric beat.

According to Matias: “Llamas tells the tale of a woman who is with a man who doesn’t treat her right from the perspective of her lover. Whenever she is with her lover, she can escape the realities of her relationship with her boyfriend. Her lover wants her to forget her boyfriend’s stupidies. He’s waiting for her and wants to be the one”

Pop | RIELL Teams Up With Conch For Dreamy Pop Single “Over The Edge”

Posted by on July 23, 2020

Fresh off the release of her explosive NCS song “Daylight” with rising producers Heuse and WOLFHOWL, RIELL is back with yet another original gem. Taken off her debut album PARADISE, set to come out this autumn, the talented singer’s latest single is titled “Over The Edge” and features an infectious verse by rapper Conch.

Throughout the 4 minutes of “Over The Edge”, RIELL displays just how capable she is of breathing life into all kinds of instrumentals, creating a heavenly dream-pop anthem. The catchy song is filled with bright synths and a dreamy atmosphere; all tasteful sonics that perfectly compliment RIELL’s vibrant singing. Conch’s flows and bars offer a satisfying break from the energy of the tune, while RIELL returns for one last hook, offering an absolutely stunning vocal performance towards the song’s final climax.

“‘Over the Edge’ is about the moment when time seems to slow down right before everything explodes. It’s that feeling of being under water where everything is muffled right before you get hit again with reality. The music video was created to show this fluidity and suspension as if you’re floating,” explained RIELL.

DO SOMETHING

Electronic, Pop | CHYLD Hits with Latest Bop ‘Headache’

Posted by on July 7, 2020

Following his breakout release “ANTIDOTE” with Mickey Darling, CHYLD is back with another genre-bending tune that is truly meant for all music lovers. “Headache” is a multi-faceted banger that brings about intense feelings of both hopelessness and reenergizing resolution, a dichotomy that only the most talented of virtuosos can portray.

The Boston-based multi-instrumentalist/producer utilizes touching guitar licks and buzzy synths for the first half of the song, allowing the sounds to constantly deconstruct one another but nevertheless falling into cadence without missing a beat. CHYLD’s emotive vocals complement the confusing but eerily familiar vibes of “Headache” and supply a much needed comfort that makes the track inescapable intimate.

Almost without warning, the syncopated guitar-based song transforms into a flutter of revitalizing synths that are complemented by an angelic voice that proclaims “It’s over my head”. The song then de-escalates into near-silence with the lyrics echoing in another voice, and before the dust can settle another wave of synths hit. The listener finds themself in a newly-constructed soundscape of crashing synths and it feels as though a tension has been lifted. The sentiments of hopelessness and loss are recycled and repurposed into a vivacious state of feeling. “Headache” truly is unique in that it really is a musical journey, developing and veering in different directions.

“My Time” is a song created for being on the road with friends, having a pool party, enjoying the summer air, or whenever it’s your time to shine,” explained Rubayne about the song.

Alternative, Pop | HOOFA – “Water Balloons”

Posted by on June 24, 2020

The summer soaked new single “Water Balloons” by HOOFA is an absolute indie pop jam that is filled with fun. Not only is the song title and artist work a play on warm weather and Summer, the song describes a specific water balloon fight:

‘Water Balloons’ depicts a big Water Balloon fight James was involved in when a kid. James lived at the bottom of a hill next to a park and the street he lived on had between 15-20 families of 2 kids each, and there was one summer when everyone was involved “even the parents sometimes. The fight was the top of the hill vs bottom of the hill, and lasted hours. It was a rare fight where no one used the super soakers but was more about strategy, jumping over fences and catching people off guard. As some kids couldn’t get permission to use their parents water tap, the common shout was “I’ll bring the water balloons” if you let someone use your tap to fill up.”

The second release of six new self-produced and self-released singles out this year, ‘Water Balloons’ follows on from their prior single “Alone”, and proves yet again that these up and comers are a group to keep an eye on. Listen to the new single by HOOFA above now! Watch the music video below.

Chill, Pop | Mokita Finishes “Bad” 3 Years Later and Turns Out Something Special

Posted by on June 20, 2020

‘I actually started bad about 3 years ago. It was a guitar riff I had played around with and then I layered a few other random things and the track kinda stayed the same over the last few years. Most of the song had been done for a while but I just never finished it. So a few months ago I was going through old demos and half finished songs and I heard it and was ‘I gotta just finish this and put it out’. So I kinda just rewrote a few parts and then barely tweaked the production. The song came together super fast and I didn’t really over think it. I did all the vocals in a day and then mixed in the next day and then it was done. I think sometimes as I writer I feel this pressure to always talk about topics that carry a lot of weight, or are going to make an impact on people. With this song I kinda had to remind myself that not everything I put out has have this super deep life altering message. I think that’s why it took me a while to put out because its super simple and lyrically its really straightforward and kinda playful. I think putting it out made me feel the freedom to put out songs I really love even if it means aren’t dealing with a heavy subject.’ – Mokita
