Hands down, Brooklyn has the most exciting music scene at the moment, and “Flickers” by the duo Prom leads the pack! Having this record on repeat in my headphones all morning,  all I know is that if I were at their show, I’d be that guy on the side, jumping up and down, having the time of my life, projecting all of my stresses and anxiety of the day onto their set, and man is  “Flickers”  a release! There’s been a renaissance of pop music, meets electronic, meets rock n roll and it’s bringing the live scene back, so I had to feature this song, it’s amazing, and it’s a must listen!

Indie, Pop, Videos | Jon Bellion – Carry Your Throne

Posted by on September 11, 2014

Wait, this is all for a free album?  F-R-E-E.  Seriously though, Jon Bellion is making lazy artists on major labels look SILLY.  He’s single handedly carving his niche in this industry and independently putting more work into one video than a lot of artists put into an entire project.  Thought, creativity, collaboration, talent, a tenacious hunger to innovate, and an immaculate focus contribute to the art which was gifted to us today.

“The record was produced and recorded in an actual castle cathedral in France. Live orchestration and all,” Bellion tells Complex. “Me and award-winning country producer Chris DeStefano looked at each other after the final playback and just hysterically laughed for about an hour. We knew how progressive and incredible this shit was.” [via Complex]

If you thought “Simple and Sweet” was cinematic, you might lose your pants when you watch this.  Sonically, I’m not sure there is any other artist in the business consistently delivering music of this caliber – mainstream or indie.  Channeling a combination of his inner Wolverine and Kanye West, Bellion rocks his heart out for the girl of his dreams.  No, I don’t think you understand, he’s going to war for this girl.  The creative direction, the lighting, the angles, the scenery, the tone, the wolves – everything was on point.  This marks the last release before Jon’s FREE album, The Definition, which drops on 9/23.  I’m hoping all of you will accept my recommendation to add it to your library when it comes time.

I’m 300,000 plays and 3 days late with this one, but if you’re looking to wind down then look no further because Flight Facilities just unleashed a glorious piece of work titled “Two Bodies”. Featuring the ethereal vocals from Emma Louise, “Two Bodies” is the the type of song that reminds you of that feeling you get when you’re on an airplane venturing off into the unknown and all you have is the subtle ambiance of soft music playing in the background. This is a must listen and a must download!

The homie Glastrophobie put the word out yesterday on his Facebook page that if he hit 50 Likes on his status, he would release a new remix, which he did, so today he hit us up to premiere this awesome remix of Born Cages‘ “Rolling Down The Hill” and we happily obliged! The feels on this record are uplifting, and in my opinion the original record is a hit, in the sounds of Mumford & Sons with a touch of Queen, it straight bangs! Glastro does it again, adding his Midas touch to bring us all to church! This is a must listen!

There’s nothing I love more than raw talent, there’s a realness to the music that you can’t clone, and The Blancos carry that with them with every song they’ve sent over. The energy that these guys create with their edgy garage rock productions layered with throaty blues vocals, make for an aura reminiscent of the legends Bob Seger, Joe Cocker, or the contemporary Black Keys. With their first live show in NYC coming up at Piano’s August 16th, and an upcoming EP later in the year, one can only be excited for the growth of this band, and where they intend to take their sound! This is a must listen and a must download!

Electronic, Indie, Pop | Kavalier – Better (ft. Elias)

Posted by on August 7, 2014

After a beautiful cover for the summer smash “Rather Be”, the boys of Kavalier have returned with their first original, “Better”. The song is another upbeat and radio-ready single. However, despite the feeling that this song could fit perfectly in Top 40s music, it deviates from the all-to-familiar formula that clogs the airwaves nowadays.

The track features vocal help from Elias, a friend and previous collaborator of Kavalier. Just two songs deep, the duo is sure to make some splashes these coming months, so stay tuned and enjoy!

Indie, Pop | Young Kato – Sunshine

UK band Young Kato might be one of the most exciting acts I’ve featured on FNT, and although I’m not quite sure where they came from,  I fell on their latest single “Sunshine” by accident, and I’m glad I did, these guys have the potential to be huge with their indie-pop sound, and if this track doesn’t do it for them, I guarantee you their EP will make heads turn. Granted the wave will be gin in the UK before the hype makes it way into the US, make sure you let them know where you heard if first. This is a must listen and a must download!
