Alternative, Hip-Hop, RnB | Quincy Kwalae & JT Roach – When It Gets Cold
Posted by Grubeats on January 18, 2012
I’m happy to introduce 23 year old producer/singer/rapper from Bloomington, IN, Quincy Kwalae. As you’ll notice after listening to a variety of Quincy’s music is his versatile style. Producing everything from hip-hop to experimenting with dubstep and all variations in between, he has begun his most recent project with hip-hop/r&b/acoustic artist JT Roach, titled, qollab. “When It Gets Cold” is a savory blend of r&b and alternative hip-hop, as Quincy shows off his smooth rhyming capability while JT opens up with some strong vocals. Judging by this track alone, I’d say this EP has potential to be very impressive.

RnB | Leonard Friend – Serious Music
Posted by GMONEY on January 13, 2012
Introducing Leonard Friend, an R&B/Pop artist based out of Los Angeles, CA in the mold of Justin Timberlake & Robin Thicke (high praise yes, but there are some similarities.) Leonard Friend almost quit music during the winter of 2010 when he decided to leave his post as front man of the now defunt Brooklyn band, The XYZ. Whether you like Leonard Friend or not, you must respect the ridiculous dancing he pulls off while sitting in a chair. Look for Leonard’s first project, EP Lynyrd Frynd dropping January 30th.

There are singers, there are rappers, then there are artists. Bei Maejor is an artist. That’s it. Mele Kalikimaka lil’ homie.
P.S. Here’s a new track he dropped as well. Nothing but the finest candy coated rhythm and blues.

Hip-Hop, Pop, RnB | Qwote
Posted by Grubeats on December 24, 2011
Quote has broken FNT ground a few times before, but I felt his resume qualified him for a solo post. Supplying bangers as thick as the back side of this broad, the Miami native has worked with some of the game’s best including Pitbull, Rick Ross, J.R. Rotem, & Jim Jonsin to name a few. The pop/rnb/hip-hop go getter has a very fluent and bodacious voice that allows him to work so versatilely with all these artists. I’ve yet to hear Qwote on the radio up in New England, but once people get a shot of this guys music, I have a feeling they’ll be calling for a second round very soon after. Below is his most recent mixtape, Love Her Lips, highlighted with a few of my favorite cuts.
“My goal is to create a new lane that can bring fresh innovative music that touches the soul and evokes thought, passion, and creativity on another level.”

RnB | ndeluv – #hoodmusic
Posted by W8 on December 11, 2011
Simply put, ndeluv is a weeknd-esc sensation dripped in cough syrup. I should have had this project up months ago but stayed anticipating some visuals to be released, that now are. Front to back #hoodmusic is a solid-chill listen, the track with the most memories for me would be The Love Song. Now, besides ndeluv’s musical talent he also maintains a keen eye for art on his tumblr that will surely have you scrolling down for miles, be sure to check that out as well as his frequent wise words on twitter. And last but not least, don’t forget.

Hip-Hop, RnB | The Weeknd Uses Sheldon Scott’s “Little Bit” Produced by T-Minus
Posted by GMONEY on December 10, 2011
In 2009, an artist by the name of Sheldon Scott, hailing from Toronto, Canada, appeared in our inbox as many song submissions do. This submission was different from the rest. Sheldon appeared to have no Facebook, Twitter, or Myspace (Yes, in 2009 Myspace was still being used) despite being connected with some of the biggest producers and artists in Toronto. His songs were pop perfection, incorporating poignant lyrics and catchy melodies. He was an enigma, and still remains one today.
In the submission, sent around 2009, was a track entitled, “Little Bit”, a T-Minus produced guitar-driven ballad presumably dedicated to that special someone in his life. This was not the only T-Minus produced track that we received from Sheldon at the time. Every song he sent us blew us away. We couldn’t help but think: how is this man not signed? We had heard rumors that Sheldon had been offered numerous recording contracts, but turned them down because the terms weren’t to his liking. Sheldon seemed to be in no rush to sign to a major label despite their repeated interest in him.
Fast forward to 2011. Toronto native, Abel Tesfaye, also known as the Weeknd, had made his meteoric rise with the help of Drake’s brand manager, Oliver El-Khatib. The Weeknd had been rumored to be not only working with Ill Angelo, but also Boi-1-da and T-Minus. It’s no secret that The Weeknd’s music is in high demand, as evidenced by the pre “House of Ballons” and “Thursday” leaks that have given us a glimpse into his early creations before his signature sound was carefully crafted.

Hip-Hop, RnB | The Weeknd – Superhero + Cure
Posted by GMONEY on December 8, 2011
The Weeknd is slowly becoming one of my favorite artists today. Along with Frank Ocean, he is the future face of R&B music, or what we at FNT like to call baby making music. Production credits go to The Noise on both these tracks. While waiting for his upcoming project, Echoes of Silence, feel free to grab his two latest masterpieces House of Balloons & Thursday.
