There are very few artists shy of national recognition who seem to have really found themselves as artists; those who have truly discovered their sound and taken advantage of how it connects and resonates with people. Dylan Owen most definitely has, and with each release his understanding of his sound—that carefully crafted blend of highly-skilled lyricism, indie song-craft, and honesty—becomes more illuminated. It’s no wonder that he’s gained such a tight-knit following as quickly as he has. He’s not afraid to wrestle with conflict or to embrace his vulnerability, and that’s where his talent as a songwriter and rapper pays off the most. Today, Dylan has let go of a new video for “Ghosts Revisited”, a song that originally appeared on his 2012 EP Keep Your Friends Close. The song has been revised and updated (and now features additional vocals by Kiah Victoria and Kaleigh Young), which is fitting, given the time since he wrote the original, and how the experiences depicted have shifted in his mind throughout time. To give you a better understanding of how this process began, what he envisioned for this version, and what we can expect to see next, I reached out to Dylan, and below you can see what he had to say.

It’s about that time of year when most of us are longing for summer once more (at least for those of us here in the Northern Hemisphere), and this video I assure you will not ease that yearning. As a youtube commenter so bluntly put it ”My Life Suck : (” aha. Solidifying everything that is summer, Alexander Tikhomirov conquers a vast amount sun-soaked, breezy warm memory on film, all backed by a good track from Perfectiona. I get an early 2000’s Blink-182 vibe from this. As soon as you press play, you’ll be swept away by the refreshing landscapes, and will let you know summer can be a state of mind anyways.

Electro | DSK CHK Teases His Seductive Debut Single “WIL” (VIDEO)

DSK CHK just teased his latest original creation entitled “WIL (What Is Love)” and did it with a “50 Shades of Grey” style trailer! The visuals and sound marry perfectly in a sexually enticing vibe that certainly compliments both the direction and artistry of the track. When it drops… A sheer dance floor dominator, S&M style! Remnants of classic Swedish House Mafia piano riffs, haunting strings and the always noticeable female vocals of 90’s dance tune, “What Is Love” by Haddaway really build to a perfect climax both sexually and audibly. It’s refreshing to hear a proper house track that’s not in the direction of “hands up, jump up” and just stays balanced within a darker side of house, but still gives you that moment of, ahem, “explosion.” The track is scheduled to release in Jan 2014, with a follow up vocal version and music video treatment.

Jaymes Young remade Phaeleh’s cool track released this summer called “Distraction” and it turned out beautifully. His remake is emotional and eerie, yet relaxing, and the vocals are really gorgeous. It’s got a unique melancholy vibe to it and it’s free to download! Check it out for yourself!

This remix of Giraffage’s Close 2 Me by Mist Glider & Aeropsia is something else. What lead me to this remix was Aeropsia’s remix of John Otott’s “Emerald Bay” titled “Moments“. If you’re feeling “Close 2 Me” you’re definitely going to want to check it out. This is some chill dreamy trap music with hot vocals that you can vibe out to, that’ll get you through your Monday.
