Electro, Freestyle, Hip-Hop, House, Rap, Throwbacks | Snoop Dogg and Soundcloud: A Love Story

A few days ago, Snoop Dogg was handed a slip of paper that would change the face of the modern world forever. On it were the username and password to a Soundcloud account — an account long forgotten and gathering dust, an account more unloved and underutilized than so many Myspace pages of yore. We don’t know how this account came into existence (from the looks of page 7, it was set up by his management team about a year ago), but these details are unimportant now. Because for whatever reason, on this fated March morning, Snoop Dogg set out to make his Soundcloud the greatest effing Soundcloud on the planet.

I’m not kidding when I say that. This is one of the most epic and entertaining things I’ve come across in a long time. My running theory is that Snoop Dogg hit 47 js and then parked himself in front of his computer for 15 hours, just uploading without so much as a bathroom break. I’ve been sitting at work going through this thing and it’s literally a goldmine — there are rough cuts, studio outtakes, instrumentals that are far from finished, remakes of some of his older tracks, and then total curve balls like this hour long disco-funk-electro-tinged-slow-jam-heavy mix that I can’t even do justice to in words. It’s a weird but wonderful insight into his creative process, and the best part is that everything up there is a free download. If you’ve been in need of a good Snoop Dogg fix since 2004, this is your moment. And even if you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and check his stuff out anyway.
