Just days ago, Gryffin returned to drop a blissful rendition of “Youth” by Troye Sivan. The remix follows Gryffin’s big debut single “Heading Home” that came out this past January and quickly became #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart. After his outstanding live performances in front of packed crowds at San Diego’s CRSSD Festival and Miami’s Ultra this past month, the young gun producer has shown us that he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
Gryffin’s take on “Youth” acts as another unique reimagining, adding to his already stacked collection of celebrated remixes. By including hurried percussion, slick synths, and lush guitar sweeps, Gryffin transports the poppy sound of the original into a dreamy soundscape that is reminiscent of love and adolescence. A couple of months ago Fareoh remixed what was at the time my favorite pop record, and now he’s back to remix my current favorite. Whoever’s making these decisions owes themselves a pat on their back, because this young New Yorker is slowly becoming one of my favorite artists around. His “Hands To Myself” remix is a bit different than the Hailee Steinfeld remix, however, the fact is that it caught me off guard and kept my attention to the very end. A bit of a surprise is always nice, and Fareoh has consistently kept me on my toes.

Remixes are often great opportunities for artists on the rise, so for the Gold Coast-based producer known as Bergs, this OMI remix was definitely a no-brainer. With a handful of originals and remixes to his name, he’s been able to craft his own lane in the mellower, more daytime-friendly side of house music. Much like his other releases, he’s taken OMI’s “Hitchhiker” and given it his own, deeper flair that was previously not present in the original.
