Chill, Hip-Hop | Peter $un – Casimiro

Posted by on August 17, 2014

It’s Sunday night, thus here I am scouring the Internet for new rap music to start my week off with. Deep within the abyss of the rap internet I was lucky enough to stumble upon Peter $un, a Virginia native who is looking to bring soul back to the forefront with his jazz-infused music.

Unfortunately, it’s all too easy to throw $un up beside Chance the Rapper. His brilliant use of trumpet, and the falsetto ad-lib at the exposition of the song are to thank for that. However, as Chance moves further and further in to left field, $un could prove to be the more commercially viable and enjoyable for a casual listener.

Just one short verse, Peter $un leave listeners wanted to hear more upon the conclusion of “Casimiro”. While $un works hard to find his voice and place in music, I assure you I’ll be anxiously waiting on this side with my headphones in and volume up.

Alternative, Chill | Prelow – Mistakes Like This

Posted by on July 16, 2014

It takes a lot for an alternative or indie band to stick out to me. My ear isn’t particular honed in this genre, and I never like to point people in the direction of an artist or song that isn’t amazing. Luckily for me and you, I have no qualms telling you the Prelow is one of the most exciting and intriguing Indie bands out right now, period.

With only three songs in the entirety of their catalogue, the New York duo has shown us many sides and an incredible amount of talent.

Their most recent song “Mistakes Like This” is another huge leap forward in their music. The blunt chorus immediately stands out to listeners, contrasted against the tender verses. Take a listen below to the all-to-relatable song.

And my dick takes over,
and I’m thinkin’ about your lips,
but we’re too damn sober,
for mistakes like this.

Electro, Hip-Hop, Trap | Daytrip – Drop It (ft. 77Klash, Lil Silk, Yung Burrakami)

Posted by on June 26, 2014

Fresh off the plane from New York, New York, the Daytrip boys have arrived in Kingston, Jamaica. The production duo has returned with their second song, “Drop It”. The direction is undoubtedly different than their first smash “Flight 43”. There’s no use in trying to rationalize it, “Drop It” is a turn-up anthem, and a damn good one at that.

77Klash, Lil Silk, and Yung Burrakami are all called in to add their respective energies. Lil Silk’s verse is difficult to match, however, from start to finish Daytrip ensures their listeners a backdrop for any shenanigans they’ll be getting in to for the night. If you missed Daytrip’s beginning story, take a look.

Enough words, “how about we take twenty shots to the face?”

Hip-Hop, Pop, RnB, Videos | William Bolton – Let’s Stay Together (Official Music Video)

Posted by on June 17, 2014

Today marks the release of William Bolton‘s official music video for his hit “Let’s Stay Together” that’s been blowing up over the internet recently. We’ve seen Bolton’s face on front page a couple times now with his single “Passion” and the drop of his EP, so it’s no surprise that he’s continuing to release quality projects for his fans. Though still on the come up, there’s no doubt in my mind that Bolton will reach far and wide with his music capabilities ~ not to mention his charismatic smile and killer pipes don’t already make him an easy target for any music lover. The song is upbeat, fun, and very universal with a music video to match it ~ now get ready to join the bandwagon.

If you love the song, you can buy it online through William Bolton’s new website at the bottom of the page under “Let’s Stay Together – Single”.

A set for the ages, Axwell & Ingrosso closed out Governor’s Ball last night opposite a much more mellow Vampire Weekend on the main stage. The duo were fully invested in their debut performance as Axwell ? Ingrosso, putting just about every other act to shame with their production, launching streamers, confetti, intense pyro and a full on fireworks display that lasted for a few minutes. They also played 6, yes 6 new tracks and two videos have surfaced on the web for you to get a taste of what is to come. Spoiler alert, I took them. Get a good listen now because these will be big, very big.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Daye Jack – Hello World (Video)

Posted by on April 30, 2014

Making his first appearance on Fresh New Tracks is Atlanta local, Daye Jack. After turning down a scholarship to play college soccer, Jack packed his bags for the city and has been studying and working at NYU since. Jack’s style is hard to pinpoint and shifts between soulful and hard hip-hop. His freshman mixtape, Hello World showcases a versatility that many veterans aspire to.

With the budding talent coming from Atlanta from artists such as Raury and Young Thug, it’s hard to not see Daye Jack fitting right in to the blossoming music scene.
