The duo that makes up Academy is back with another chill laid back record called “Catch My Vibe.” Though in my opinion not as catchy as their latest release “Fine By Me”  , they stay true to their vibe with a groovy guitar line, and a reggae flow on the vocals that could be compared to Sublime. This is track 2 from the guys, and I’m still impressed, keep it up! This is a must listen, and a must download!

Trance | Alex M.O.R.P.H. ft. Natalie Gioia – Dreams

Alex M.O.R.P.H ft. Natalie Gioia - DreamsOne of the early favorites from Armin van Buuren’s Universal Religion Volume 7, Alex M.O.R.P.H teams up with Natalie Gioia to bring you the heavenly track “Dreams”. This masterpiece combines soft choral chants, an emotional melody and angelic top line from Natalie Gioia. This is pure trance gold.

Pop, Videos | Jon Bellion – One More Time [Video]

“One More Time” marks the second visual release from Jon off his sophomore project due out later this fall.  With electronic elements built into the production, Bellion tells his lustful story of coitus with this beautiful young lady.  The scandalous tale might bring life to Bloodhoung Gang’s most notable line, “Do it like they do on the discovery channel”, but don’t overlook the artistic elements stitched into this song — incredible.  From the production to the visual work to the clever lines such as “screw your pops let’s get some iHop”, Jon really brought this scandalous story to life.

Stay tuned for another behind the scenes look into the creation of this track, as Jon plans to share another video similar to the one he just release for “Ungrateful Eyes”.

Events, Featured | Countdown to ADE Spotlight: Kastle

Posted by on October 1, 2013

Today is October 1st, which means in 16 short days Fresh New Tracks will be jetting off to the Netherlands for ADE: Amsterdam Dance Event, a five-day electronic music festival, conference, and playground taking over the city. Leading up to ADE, we’ll be filling you in on just who and what we’re looking forward to seeing most. And if any of you out there have any insider tips on the best acts to catch, drop either VMan or myself a line and we’ll be sure to add it to our list.

After browsing through the hundreds of artists set to play at ADE, Kastle’s name was the one that lingered with me the most. The producer//philosopher has beautifully maintained a characteristic, innovative sound over the period of his career thus far. If there’s any slight possibility you’ve found yourself unacquainted with Kastle and his work (which really shouldn’t be the case), then let us give you a little background. Kastle’s music tests the limits of art and expression, ranging all the way across the spectrum from electronic dub, garage, and house to R&B and hip-hop.  Kastle himself, also known as Barrett Richards, is in an artistic sense a renaissance man by constantly exploring the virtues of all forms of art and philosophy. Browsing his Facebook, you might stumble upon an assortment of great music along and thought-provoking quotations with corresponding photos. I’m particularly fond of his Tumblr, which is almost like a window into Kastle’s seemingly infinite pool of inspiration.

Kastle will be headlining the Plafonddienst showcase at The Sugar Factory Thursday, October 17th. Joining him will be Liar, one of the newest additions to Kastle’s very own label, Symbols Recordings, and Tourist of the UK. I’ve heard rumors of these artists putting on live sets that are high energy and perhaps different than their typical sound, so I’m pretty anxious to see what these guys throw down. Keeping my fingers crossed for the Ellie Goulding remix Kastle dropped just a few days ago… (which is available for free download!)

Whether or not you make it out to Amsterdam for the weekend, be sure to indulge in Kastle’s vast selection of free downloads and his full length, self-titled album. While you’re at it, check out this interview with MTVHive where Kastle pairs cocktails with tracks from his album. Cheers!

Electro-House | Erik Arbores – Get Ready

Erik Arbores - Get Ready

We first brought you the tunes of Erik Arbores back in 2011, when he has just 14 with his first official release, “Take It EP” on Zouk Recordings. Now two years later, an elder statesman at 16 year old, he has matured as a producer and is ready to deliver on the promise he showed with his fist EP. “Get Ready” shows that maturation with a funky, amen break driven bass line, a powerful drop with quick bursts of electro and a well crafted piano-driven melody. We hope to see more tracks like this from the young Dutchman as continues on with his promising career.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Anna Kendrick – Cups (Marc Goone Remix)

Posted by on September 22, 2013

Once upon a time I thought to myself, “if I hear one more rendition of Anna Kendrick’s ‘Cups’, I’m going to shove pencils six inches in to my ears.” Yet, here we are, with a remix to the Pitch Perfect anthem that I just cannot seem to get enough of. This song lacks a bass line, models, bottles and many other quintessential rapper items, however, it sheds light on just how versatile of an artist Goone can be.

There will be a pretty constant stream of remixes from the Yung man these next couple weeks, so keep your ears open and enjoy!

Bass, Electro, Mainstream Remix | Lorde – Royals (Sharkf3ng Remix)

Posted by on September 13, 2013

royals lorde sharkfeng

One of the most entrancing new songs that’s been running across the radio-waves has to be Lorde’s “Royals”. The slow tempo, anti-materialism ballad has the world captured, meaning it’s the perfect time for remixes! Sharkf3ng hops on the track and, interestingly enough, keeps the tempo the same allowing the song to keep much of it’s original flare. With a hard-hitting bass line and provocative womps, Sharkf3ngs truly a product to remember.

Enjoy the song and grab a free download while you’re at it.
