I stayed in tonight just to watch Kanye West perform on SNL. Somewhere, while Kanye was blowing minds, there was middle-aged couple watching the performance unable to grasp what makes him great. Turning to his wife in utter befuddlement. Discounting him because he uses “curse” words in his songs. Yeezus has risen to destroy all small-mindedness and show extreme disrespect to the haters. The tribal stadium drums are savage. Hit the jump for “New Slaves” below. “Yeezus” drops June 18th.

Though I have a rapidly-growing repugnance for the kind of dubious, diluted songwriting which plagues Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” my serious infatuation with Kanye’s sense of humor has made this remix irresistible. Today I took my first listen of his almost two-minute-long introductory verse, and whether its intention was as a satire on pop radio lyricism or not, it’s a knockout. Though there are many competent contenders in the race for most un/intentionally hilarious mainstream emcees of our time, for the time being Kanye’s got it on lock. Favorite quotables: “Baby, just step up and kiss the belt…a little lower…that’s wassup,” and “my style like sex in the shower, fresh as fuck.”

There’s no question Kim K is influencing Kanye’s music. Whether it’s Yeezy shaking up the past by rapping lines such as, “And I’ll admit, I had fell in love with Kim, Around the same time she had fell in love with him” or “Break records at Louis, ate breakfast at Gucci, My girl a superstar all from a home movie” the curvy reality star obviously isn’t opposed to her boyfriends infatuation in the subject. ”White Dress”, West’s newest single which will be featured on the soundtrack to The Man with the Iron Fists, dives into a deeper tale about Yeezy’s relationship experience. Using a combination of stop motion and short video clips over the RZA, Kanye, Tapez and Boogz sampled “All The Way Gone”, Mr. West conveys his message with creativity and his distinguished delivery. With talks of marriage in their future, I can only hope the Chi-towns king keeps writing music like this but resists the urge to elope with his wife to be.
