CJ Holland is back with his latest cover as part of his new #CJWEEKLY series, and it’s the most fully articulated display of his sound and aesthetic that we’ve gotten thus far, for sure. While the cover game isn’t kind to many, and has lost some of its charm as a whole due to congestion in the form, CJ has found a way to extend his releases beyond karaoke; his influences and style here are clearly in effect, and One Love’s original production, too, adds a new flavor to the track is a definite help to his cause.
Derulo’s “Want To Want Me” was last week’s most added song to radio, so here’s where song choice comes into effect. His last cover was of “Tuesday,” a song that really was on its way out of radio, so while his unique approach to it still made it compelling, it wasn’t able to capitalize on the song’s catchiness since the melody’s interest had all but faded. Here, though, CJ makes his mark on a song that he knew was bound to be successful, and yet hasn’t already been engrained in its listeners in a particular way. Cover artists take notice.
Trap | Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek (Candyland’s OG Remix)
Posted by Nick on October 28, 2013
I’m surprised this track hasn’t gotten more coverage over the past few days. Candyland, the killer duo from Isla Vista, comprised of Josie Martin & Ethan Davis, just released (yet another) OG remix – and it’s spectacular to say the least.
Remember back in ’09 when a bunch of artists kept remixing/sampling this song (e.g. – Tiësto’s Remix and Jason Derulo’s “Watcha Say”)? Well, Candyland just brought it back, and it’s straight fire. The way these two chop and screw the vocals, and then throw down an original beat with that classic Candyland sound is refreshing, leaving you wondering how you’re going to wait for their next production. Hit up that free download and enjoy!
DJ-Set, Electro, Mashups, Mixtapes | DOSVEC – Quattro
Posted by Mach on February 29, 2012
In honor of his father who died 6 months ago today, DOSVEC delivers us his newest masterpiece of a mixtape. Going strictly with electro/dance styled mashups at 128 bpm, DOSVEC out did himself on this mixtape. The set itself is great for any occasion, whether it’s a party or a dance floor. I love the wide array of vocals packed into these mashes, showcasing many different decades of catchy tracks. After giving this mixtape a full listen, I wish it wouldn’t be an embarrassment for me to bust out in this library. Freestyle, Hip-Hop, Videos | Timeflies Tuesday: 2012

2011 was truly an extraordinary year for Timeflies. It’s amazing to watch artists’ growth over such a short period of time and even more impressive to see the fans support explode with so much passion. In lieu of the malicious Mayans forecasting the world’s end, @WhatupCal & @RobResnick sample Jason Derulo & Nicki Minaj’s track, “2012 (It Ain’t The End)”, adding their own personal stroke of genius. If by some chance the Mayans predictions of the world ending on December 21st of 2012 hold true, Timeflies is guaranteed to go out with a bang. If the world doesn’t end, they’re still going to have one hell of a year and I’m excited to see just how far they can take this dream.
They have teased us with the streaming audio for this right now, but once they hit 25,000 followers on @Timeflies they promised to drop us the mp3. GO FOLLOW!

Electro | Rage Against The Machine – Testify (SmarterChild Remix)
Posted by GMONEY on October 7, 2011
If you have failed to notice, I am a massive SmarterChild fan. This guy literally does it all, from remixing mainstream Jason Derulo heaters, to trance-fying (if that wasn’t already a word it is now btw) KOPPS LA Lights. His latest release takes on yet another genre with Rage Against The Machine’s Testify. When SmarterChild told me that he has been itching to remix this track, I really didn’t know where he would take this. Well, he manages to catapult this rock rager into the electro age with this hard hitting remix which skillfully holds onto the integrity of the original, while simultaneously invigorating it with epic dance floor flare.

Hip-Hop | Jason Derulo ft Rick Ross – Make It Up As We Go

Although I once thought you can never have too much cowbell, the cowbell in the verses is too annoying. Regardless, here’s a leak off Derulo’s album, “Future History.”
