Jenaux is popularly known for his incredible progressive house tracks, so when I got this in my inbox, I have to say I was surprised…but in the best way possible. In his remix of Tritonal’s “Gamma Gamma”, the NYC producer slows it down to 105bpm, while still keeping the same “Jenaux” sound we have come to love. This “Reflections” remix graced my inbox a few days back and after the first listen I knew it needed to be shared. However, as it usually does, life got ahead of me and my post slipped from one day to the next to the next. Then, tonight as I perused Hype Machine, staring me right in the face -as any not completed assignment does- was the Misterwive’s name along with the Gryffin remix.
The bouncy deep house sound that Gryffin implores has been a recent trend amongst producers, and combined with the Misterwives angelic vocals the song was a guaranteed success.

A few days back a new cover titled, “Money On My Mind”, graced my inbox. Now, going in to this I was hesitant as I am with any cover, especially since Sam Smith had done such an amazing job on the original. However, to my pleasant surprise, the MisterWives did not disappoint.
I’m a little late to the party on this song, so hopefully this will reach all of the ears that missed it the first time around! The harmonious vocals perfectly complement the simple piano and drums to create a sound that will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

Hip-Hop, Rap | Vonny del Fresco – Noir Designer

With the sheer volume of new rappers emerging every day, it never ceases to amaze me how small the hip-hop community actually is. The interconnectivity of all us youngins’ once again came around full circle when “Noir Designer” graced my inbox earlier this week. Although I was familiar with Vonny del Fresco, I never had sat down and truly listened to what he had to offer.
The distorted voice and harsh passion he brings with every line, helps del Fresco paint a vivid picture of a woman caught up in the materialistic glitz and glamour. The almost-satanic sounding song is the antithesis of a typical ballad. As del Fresco explains,
“Noir Designer” tells the tale of a night’s encounter with a female living in a materialistic world, feeding off of greed inspired by her surroundings.
A beautiful exterior disguises inner ugliness.
The finer things allow her to feel secure, indulgence in excess–drugs, sex, sparkling nights–helps her cope.
She meets someone who understands her urges–a man who wants nothing more than to use her in exchange for giving her everything she desires.
A powerful message put forward in a strikingly blunt and confrontational manner is all summed up with a thought-provoking question: Is this modern love?

If you are not excited for “In My Mind” releasing on Monday, then you really need to reevaluate some things in your life and stop watching re-runs of Teen Mom. Here are some quality original tracks and a remix from my inbox who have really stood out. Alex Skolds aka “Destimix” provides this upbeat progressive house song with uplifting melodies, but also brings some originality to the table with a little bit of an old school feel to it. Alex Dunsker or just Dunsker provides a hard hitting electro song with heavy breaks and softer builds. The jaYadav remix provides a heavier alternative to this song from Starkillers and Nadia Ali that has been charting incredibly well. Nadia Ali’s vocals are of course amazing and the remix adds a heavy, high energy, pounding electro drop.

Just as I was about to call it a night, I got this gem in my inbox. Rainfall featuring Sarah Solovay is Upper West’s newest single off the upcoming mixtape, West Side Stories and is definitely worth checking out. This track has the perfect blend of a powerful chorus, catchy production, and smooth verses.
