Pop | Alexander Tikhomirov – Summer of my dreams

Posted by on December 9, 2013

It’s about that time of year when most of us are longing for summer once more (at least for those of us here in the Northern Hemisphere), and this video I assure you will not ease that yearning. As a youtube commenter so bluntly put it ”My Life Suck : (” aha. Solidifying everything that is summer, Alexander Tikhomirov conquers a vast amount sun-soaked, breezy warm memory on film, all backed by a good track from Perfectiona. I get an early 2000’s Blink-182 vibe from this. As soon as you press play, you’ll be swept away by the refreshing landscapes, and will let you know summer can be a state of mind anyways.

Progressive House, Videos | Don Diablo – Edge Of The Earth

Posted by on September 30, 2013

As dance music becomes more visible worldwide, it is becoming more common for artists to become involved in activities outside of the traditional dance music DJing arena. Don Diablo, who has had a great summer with “Starlight (Could You Be Mine)” and “Prototype“, has made the theme song for the upcoming nature film in Holland and Belgium “The New Wilderness”. Looks like a great watch, I mean who didn’t like Planet Earth (the answer is nobody). This song fits the theme of the video and is another strong track from Don Diablo who continues to get better with each track. The video is awesome too.

Exclusive, Featured, Interviews | BT Talks Ghost Producing, ASAW, Sharks & More (FNT Exclusive)

BT Profile

BT has become a standard bearer for innovation and excellence in dance music. He is noted as a creative producer of many different styles and sounds, as well as an acclaimed film scorer and programmer: the mind behind the now necessary stutter edit. His 9th artist album “A Song Across Wires” instantly shot up to number one on the iTunes dance charts and has produced such singles like “Must Be The Love”, “Skylarking”, and “Tomahawk”. We had the chance to chat with him last week before his show at Marquee, and of all the people I have had the chance to interview like Hardwell, Arty, Thomas Gold and Andrew Bayer, BT was probably my favorite guy to talk to.

Later that night we got to catch his set at Marquee that featured a heavy dose of ASAW and more danceable tracks from the lengthy BT discography. There were plenty of avid BT fans in attendance, so this was a party he knew how to play, even at a bottle service club like Marquee. Click past the jump to read our discussion on ghost producing, which he had some very interesting things to say about, the album, his passion for sharks and more.

Next week, Fresh New Tracks will take on South By Southwest, the self-proclaimed “premier destination for all discovery” that sets the trends of music for the next year to come. SXSW is a film, music, and interactive festival that takes over the city of Austin for 10 outrageous straight days. The music festival is comprised of official and unofficial (usually free) shows, rooftop parties, party boats and buses and no to mention the most interesting collection of people you will ever see.

Allow us to give you a little taste of what went down last year…

Stayed tuned for Sev and Mimada’s Complete What-To-Do and How-To-Do-It guide after the break.

Hip-Hop, Videos | The King’s Dead – Mighty California [Music Video]

Posted by on September 26, 2012

[do action=”youtube” videoid=”5yHggiiyjxA”/]

One of my person favorites off The King’s Dead debut project, “Jerusalem, is now here in visual form.  Aziz and Alexander have always been involved the production of their visuals and now that they are represented by their independent film movement, Vérité Films, they played an even more instrumental role in the creation of “Mighty California”.  Co-Directed/Produced by Elan Alexanberg of FTS Creative, The King’s Dead once again creates a spectacle of creativity.

“The “Mighty California” Video was inspired by Salvador Dali’s first movie “Un Chien”. The confusing non existent sense of time the film portrayed inspired Aziz Francois to create his own modern day version. A blend of Al Pacino’s “Scarface” and Dali’s “Un Chien” come together to create Mighty California. A Story about Aziz escaping two prostitutes who hold him hostage in a hotel, until he escapes

to find revenge. The goal was to create something where the viewer wasn’t just left confused, but able to piece the story together themselves instead of it being your typical rap in front of camera hip hop video. We developed characters that you need to establish on your own. In the end it becomes your video, and it means what ever you want it too; allowing the fans to become part of the vision.”

Abstract Hip-Hop, Videos | Flying Lotus – Until The Quiet Comes (Short Film)

Posted by on September 9, 2012

Flying Lotus, like MF Doom, is one the worlds top Abstract Hip-Hop artists. On October 1st Flying Lotus’ next album, “Until The Quiet Comes” is releasing. Being familiar with his entire discovery, Flying Lotus is undoubtedly going to blow our minds. The short film above is NSFW, but not because of nudity but the violence depicted within. Filmed at Nickerson Gardens in Los Angeles, CA, director Kahil Joseph does not hold back in showing the life of those who live there. I understand what Kahil did with this video, death represents the quiet, and Flying Lotus’ music revitalizes the spirit within the man who was killed.
