Alternative, Chill, Hip-Hop | FKJ-Lying Together (Jackson Breit Remix)

Posted by on December 11, 2012

Jackson Breit packs a “chill” punch in this catchy hybrid track that features elements of hip hop and alternative. Here’s his take on the song:

“Here’s the first single off my mixtape EP that will be released in the winter with vocals over electronic tracks by Gramatik, Breakbot, and FKJ. The EP is called “In The Shade.” This first song is over Lying Together by FKJ because it is one of my favorite beats of the year. It is about my appreciation for the being in the shade, physically and metaphorically.”

Dubstep | F3tch – Carnage EP

Posted by on December 7, 2012

If you are looking to release some rage after all your exams this week and need a soundtrack to accompany your activities, look no further. Despite the numerous delays in the past week for this EP release it finally made its way onto Beatport. All the tracks on this EP are some next level dubstep tunes, featuring some collaborations with xKore and Cyberoptics as well. The xKore collaboration entitled Rancid is definitely my favorite tune on the EP. The chord progression intro deceives you into thinking its going to be a reggae styled track, but thats far from what you get on the drop. Carnage is also another favorite from the EP. The drops that F3tch creates on all the tracks are so unique sounding its hard to dislike any of them.

Electro-House | Clinton VanSciver – Hashtag Swag

Posted by on December 5, 2012

We’ve posted about Clinton VanSciver a few times this year, but this is one of the coolest/most unique tracks we’ve seen come from the young up and comer. He blends his signature Dirty Pop style with flow from Baltimore rapper Hella Hazard, and the result is a something you’ve probably never experienced. The release, out on Prep School Recordings, features several remixes, but my personal favorite is Matt DiMona’s progressive-house take on the track. Check them out below:

Dubstep | Konec – Cascade EP

Posted by on November 19, 2012

Rising star Konec has just released his first EP entitled Cacade EP, out not on ‘Dub-All or Nothing’. Most well known for his laser filled remix to N*ggas in Paris that has been rinsed out by xKore during his FP tour sets; that remix barely scratches the surface of what he has in store. This EP has a nice 16-bit/old school video game theme to it that won me over after my first play of Cascade. The intro to Cascade lures me into the track every time, and not to mention the amazing melody and transition into the intense drop. With Jaguar there is more epic feel throughout, with pauses in the intro between chords. After we have the suspenseful build-up complete, we get a taste of the drop a few seconds before, after which we are hit with the heavy growl along with some jaguar sounds between. The amount of detail in both tracks is outstanding, and each listen through you notice more and more. Along with the two originals we also have two fantastic remixes provided by Poisound and Centra. Poisound takes Jaguar and gives it his usually deathly drumstep touch to transform the track into a fast paced banger. Centra’s remix to Cascade is more along the lines of his uplifting style of DnB with a nice nero-funk styled drop. Be sure to grab this EP off of Beatport HERE, or iTunes UK HERE, or iTunes US HERE. As a little added bonus we got to talk with this outstanding artist in an interview that can be read after the jump below. It’s one of my favorite interviews to date, so don’t miss it. Show him some support on his social media’s that can be found in the links below.

Dubstep, Glitch | Manic Focus – Rooster

Posted by on November 15, 2012

Manic Focus has truly put out some awesome tracks this year. The new original from him is another cool Glitch-Hop track. My favorite thing about this track besides the cover art that reminds me of Robot Chicken, is the underlying old school country. It is a rare thing to hear a harmonica strongly on a song these days, never thought I would be enjoying it on a something filled with bass as well. Big ups to Manic Focus for another hit.

Chill, Hip-Hop, Indie, Mainstream Remix, RnB, Videos | SoMo – Don’t Judge Me

Posted by on November 12, 2012

Often times I post music that is so breathtaking that I find myself at a loss for words. Being a blogger, that is slightly problematic. I’m having trouble forming words to describe how I feel about this song. I know that’ll probably get me comments like “GET OFF HIS DICK” from all of you internet trolls, but I’ll just go listen to this song to ease the pain. I swear, at one point, when he mixed one of my all time favorite songs “Crawl” into this mix, I got a bit emotional, reminiscing on how beautiful Ri’ and Chris’ love was, and all the past relationships I’ve messed up. Here I am, getting all emotional n shit. Don’t judge me.

DJ-Set | Sensation: Denmark Review/Full DJ-Sets

Posted by on November 12, 2012

Please, please, please, do yourself a huge favor and pull out your bucket list, to-do list, or whatever you have. Cross out all the other items and write this on the top row, in big, bold letters: See a Sensation concert.

I love live music, so I’ve been to many concerts and festivals over the years in the United States. Many of them have been amazing, but Sensation in Copenhagen, Denmark just blew all my past concert experiences out of the water. If you’re not familiar with Sensation, it is a massive all-night electro/house event where everyone is required to wear white.

Last Weekend, I arrived to Parken Stadium a bit early to make sure to be able to catch all five  DJs on the lineup for the night (Mr. White, Riva Starr, Man With No Shadow, Sharam and Sander Van Doorn). Despite the near-freezing weather, two hours before the doors had even opened the streets were completely packed with people creatively dressed head-to-toe in all white.

All of the friendly Danish people seemed to know the routine: pregame early, and get ready to rage until 3am. I’ve learned a lot while I’ve been abroad, but one of the main things that sticks out no matter what country I’m in is this: Europeans can party. I’ve never seen anything like it. Europeans have the ability to make us (Americans) look like 60 year olds ready for a jazz festival in the local park…
