Legendary producer and performer, Pretty Lights, is set to take over the city of Chicago this weekend… and we couldn’t be more excited. Derek Vincent Smith, more commonly known as Pretty Lights, will be accompanied by a full band to perform back to back nights at First Merit Bank Pavilion. The nights in Chicago are a part of the “An Episodic Festival” tour series which consists of multi-day events throughout the rest of summer and fall. This tour entails a full touring band with Derek himself front and center. Other stops for this series include New Hampshire, Nashville, Colorado and Telluride. For both of the nights in Chicago, Derek has arranged for many opening performances; On Friday he is bringing out Emancipator, Manic Focus, SunSquabi, and Statik. On Saturday he is bringing out Tipper (Twilight Set), The Grouch & Eligh, G Jones, and Cofresi… All great musicians that are sure to put on an unforgettable show.

Elephante just dropped a brand new original called “Catching On”, featuring the lovely vocals of Nevve. This is slightly different from what we’re used to hearing from Tim Wu, but it’s still as ear pleasing and dance floor worthy as anything else he’s put out. This is truly what separates the good from the great – the ability to change it up song after song while still remaining consistent in quality (if not bettering it). Elephante says that “this song started on a rainy day in LA… it was all gray outside and i just started messing around until this “wuub wub wuub wub wubwubwubwubwub” thing appeared in my head… i didn’t think much of it at first, but it turned into one of my favorite tracks i’ve ever made.” Definitely check out “Catching On” now, and don’t be surprised when you fall in love with it!

The third iteration of Mysteryland USA is right around the corner, and as we count down the days until June 10th, there’s a lot to plan, and even more to listen to. The ID&T-produced festival has already unveiled two phases of its stand-out lineup, and this year promises to be the biggest and best edition of the festival in America to date. Over the course of two days, nearly 100 artists will call Bethel Woods home, from headliners like ODESZA, Skrillex, and Bassnectar, to stellar undercard offerings like Gesaffelstein, Claude VonStroke, REZZ, amongst others, spread across six stages of bumping music. With so many can’t-miss artists to see, and even more activities to do at the festival, it’s tough to decide which artists take priority, and which ones will fall by the wayside, and schedule conflicts only serve as yet another source of anxiety before the festival.
In a new editorial series leading up to this year’s Mysteryland USA, we’re spotlighting an artist on the lineup that we consider can’t-miss for the weekend. Whether its because of a phenomenal live show, a brand new album, or stellar DJing skills, we hope that this spotlight series will help you wade through some of teh schedule conflicts easier. Any day with new Sam Feldt music is a good day, and we’ve got a gem from the Spinnin’ Deep all-star today. Hot off the heels of his stand-out original, “Drive You Home,” with The Knocks, the 22-year-old Dutch wunderkind has unveiled a special edit of On June’s cover of “The Devil’s Tears” to celebrate the dawn of the fall season. Opening the track with uplifting, arpeggiated guitar riffs before breaking down with subtle bongos and shakers, Feldt’s edit of “The Devil’s Tears” has some serious vibes.
