If you follow the small, bespectacled powerhouse better known as Sonny Moore, you’ll remember when this video dropped back in February, and you’ll also remember the frenzy that it stirred up on the Interwebs. The line between man and beast blurred as crazed Skrillex fans scrambled to pin down the ID for the song playing in the background. Was it a new collaboration? Unreleased Alvin Risk? Or was it simply another one of the many, many unfinished tracks gathering dust on Skrillex’s harddrive? Unfortunately, the trail rapidly dried up, and ranks of once-steadfast YouTube commenters gradually began to accept that they would never learn the name of the infectiously catchy song with the thrilling lasers and fierce wobbles.
Until four days ago. When a full, high-quality version of the song materialized without any warning whatsoever, as if by the very hand of God. No, this was no Alvin track — it was in fact brought into this world by one HALLYWOOD X, who has been a member of Soundcloud for exactly one week and might prove to be nothing more than a wonderful, glorious mirage. I’m not sure, friends, but I look forward to following him in the days ahead as anyone who can credibly be mistaken for Skrillex and Alvin Risk is clearly someone to watch carefully. Head to HALLYWOOD X’s Soundcloud for two more excellent remixes (of Diplo/Usher’s “Climax” and “Spectrum” — tis the season, after all).

Mashups | 5 & A Dime- Change (Dillon Francis & Diplo ft. Porter Robinson Bootleg)
Posted by ATexas on July 9, 2012
5 & A Dime is back with a vengeance just crushing it on this track. With festival season in full swing the amount of mixes we are getting is unreal, but all in all 5 & A Dime is killing it. With his mass releases 2 weeks ago this track is just a straight good remix of some solid EDM and dubstep.

Dubstep, Progressive House | Dada Life – Kick Out The Epic Motherf**ker (Datsik & Otto Knows Remixes)
Posted by Spice on July 2, 2012
Oh, happy day! When we first previewed the Datsik and Otto Knows remixes of “Kick Out The Epic Motherf**ker,” we didn’t have a set release date and I was concerned that we’d be kept on ice* for months. But it looks like the gods are smiling on us because the package officially dropped today. I’ve already discussed both of these remixes so I’ll keep it brief: two very different but independently excellent interpretations of Dada Life’s anthemic powerhouse. Both of these tracks are must DLs that will probably figure heavily in many an upcoming live set — so get them early…and listen often.

Dubstep, Preview | Colin Munroe ft. Pusha T – The Fight Of My Life (Zeds Dead Remix)
Posted by GMONEY on June 29, 2012
Some heavy s*%t coming your way from dubstep duo Zeds Dead. The Toronto-based group does it big this time in the form of a Colin Munroe remix featuring Pusha T. ‘The Fight Of My Life’ first teases us with the tranquility of Colin Munroe’s vocals, then kicks us square in the nuts with gut-wrenching bass and wobble that has come to make the duo so popular. Be sure to look out for the release of this one on July 17th and until then, keep raging through the weekend with this preview!
Albums, Dubstep, Electronic, Glitch, Review | Haywyre – Infinite
Posted by Mach on June 25, 2012
After our featured post of Haywyre a few months back, the man was more than grateful and in the opinions of FNT, more than deserving. Today is the release of Haywyre’s 6th musical compilation, the album titled ‘Infinite.’ I cannot stop listening to this new album, Haywyre’s history of piano composition is reflected immensely all over the course of his work. Last minute he teamed up with Jay Fresh to do a vocal mix of his highly anticipated instrumental, ‘Raw Crunch.’ The track was already wanted by all, but now with that extra step into Hip-Hop it is simply irresistible.
“The idea behind the album name “Infinite” came from our tendency to label existences with specific beginnings and ends. The circle represents the possibility of a never-ending existence, as opposed to one with a beginning and an end.”
– Haywyre
Infinite is comprised of many different styles, more prominently Dubstep, but also consisting of Glitch-Hop and little Electro/Lounge styling. His first track ‘Prototype’ kicks off with some smooth Glitch-Hop, as funny as it is to say. The track then breaks into his mastery of the Piano leading only into an incredible Glitch drop. Exclusive to Beatport is his second track, and by far one of the more incredible of the album, ‘LD004.’ This Orchestral Dubstep track really puts the top 10 of Dubstep to shame. The bass is massive, but not messy sounding like a lot of Dubstep theses days. Assembled flawlessly, the repeat button is the only next logical move. By far my favorite track of the entire Album, ‘Raw Crunch’ shows an entire new side tot he potential Glitch-Hop holds. The intro carries you seamlessly into a Razor drop (Dubstep/Electro), and from there you are completely blown away by the composure that Haywyre created for this massive track. ‘Raw Crunch’ finishes off strong in true Glitch-hop fashion, continually blowing your mind until the very end.
His second Exclusive to Beatport, ‘Contrast,’ is another big Glitch-Hop tune. Embodying the idea of contrast, this track floats right into more of that Razor style. I love the name of ‘Stone Shower,’ and once you listen you will understand why. The track has this vibe of rain falling, but breaking from the first simple Glitch drop you quickly are introduced to the bass stones that now wash away all else. The last orignal of the album is yet another favorite of mine from the album. ‘Mezmerize’ does just that to you, I cannot get enough of that Electric Guitar. Listening to the track you wonder where all the bass went. Patience is a virtue, and well worth the wait as the track progresses into an incredible drop. As a bonus, is a remix of ‘LD004’ from The Digital Connection, transforming the track into a more intense Glitch/Dubstep version of the original. This album has to be one of the best releases I have heard in 2012. Besides the two exclusives to Beatport, ‘Infinite’ is FREE! Don’t be shy to show Haywyre some love and name a higher price on Bandcamp than $0.00. He is more than deserving of the support. I hope everyone else enjoys this album just as much as I have, it truly is a masterpiece.
Dubstep | Benga – Icon / I Will Never Change (Pixel Fist Remix)
Posted by Sev on June 24, 2012
Benga unleashing his latest single today entitled Icon, alongside a remix of his unique styled track I Will Never Change that has finally hit the iTunes shelves. Kind of following the theme of I Will Never Change and sticking to his roots, Benga provides us with another old-school styled dubstep track that we would have expected from him a few years back. Not giving into this new heavier style of dubstep which has emerged over the past year and taken over the scene, but keeping it tasteful with a hint of UK garage splattered throughout the track. On the other hand, alongside his single he decided it was time for the world to get a taste of Pixel Fist’s remix to I Will Never Change, which takes the mellow track and cranks up the filth to destroy crowds wherever it is heard. After previewing it a few months ago there had been some anticipation building up as to when this remix would be released, so it was nice to see Benga being mindful about how long it took for the remix to come out. Unfortunately you can only purchase his single on the UK iTunes right now, but it should be available in the US sometime this week. So if you can, grab it off of the UK iTunes HERE.

Dubstep | Major Lazer – Original Don ft. The Partysquad (Helicopter Showdown Remix)
Posted by Sev on June 20, 2012
Helicopter Showdown has become a staple in my dubstep playlist with there heavy screeching drops and bass thumping beats. They previewed their latest remix of Major Lazer’s Original Don about a month ago, and decided it was time for the world to have this aggressive remix. If you are thinking this track is going to be similar to Flosstradamus’s you are completely incorrect, so don’t even bother thinking what it is going to sound like and just hit play.
