Dubstep | R Rated #34

For those of you who didn’t get it yet, Rednek just dropped his debut album “One Year Later.” The album altogether is great, really loved just about every track on it. The album is climbing the Beatport charts fast so make sure you click HERE to grab your copy. Rednek also has announced his new group called I.I.K. (If It’s Kool), to help support and get the word out for any artist worth listening to even if they are a nobody. The track above titled “Sway,” is a fresh dirty clip from Rednek, and should be dropping soon!

Now onto the free stuff. Svyable has made previous appearances in R Rated, his style is…well it’s filth haha. For this new remix of his he really makes you wait for the drop, but I am telling you it is well worth the wait. Spitting lasers, the drop is exactly what we want R to be about, the nasties of dubstep.

Sev came across RealTalk no more than a few weeks ago and since then we have seen nothing but promising work. i was a little worried about this track when I saw the title. I thought I was going to hear another remix of Skrillex’s True Gangsters using low quality rips…I love being wrong. This track is dirty, it has a bit of a spacey feel with that crunchy bass that makes your ears hurt in the best of ways.

Technically this next tune is Glitch-Hop, but after this many successful R Rated posts it obviously does not matter, as long as the fans get their fix. A free tune from High Rankin is always a welcomed sight. The vocals on this track are beautiful and accompany this bassy tune flawlessly.

Styles&Complete with another dope track this year, the duo has been on fire for sure. I am a huge fan of Rage Against The Machine, sampling that legendary guitar was an awesome idea. This track bumps and thumps, snatch it.

This last track is exactly why I love what I do and why I also believe strongly in what I.I.K. is all about. When I find an artist with less than 100 followers, I don’t turn and run, I become intrigued. Crack City just blew out my ears with this filth monger of a tune. Its heavy, grimey, and composed masterfully. What more could you ask for to end this epic post.

RnB | Frank Ocean – Pyramids

Posted by on June 8, 2012

I don’t need a snappy intro or hook to draw you in with this song. The song is by Frank Ocean, and that’s all you need to know. Frank doesn’t fail to impress with this one, the first single off of his upcoming album, Pyramids, is a hit. Heads up, the song is 10 minutes long, and it gets a bit repetitive at some points, but damn, is Frank Ocean a talent, this song perfectly showcases his songwriting and vocal abilities. He seems to have cut his public affiliation with Odd Future to a minimum, which shows he’s taking his career as a singer seriously, even if he might not be having as much fun as Taco, Jasper, Tyler and the rest of the gang. After hearing Pyramids, I can’t wait to hear his debut album, Channel Orange coming soon.

Pop | Usher ft. Swedish House Mafia- Euphoria

Posted by on June 5, 2012

Continuing to cash-in on the dance craze that’s sweeping the hip-hop world, Usher teams up with Coachella headliners Swedish House Mafia to create a stand-out single that will have Parisian-prince, David Guetta, likely pouting in a corner over SHM making the album and his tracks only making the bonus cuts.

Dubstep | Never Say Die: Compilation Album

Posted by on May 27, 2012

The monster compilation, known as the Never Say Die Album, has finally been unleashed onto Beatport. The best of the top stars from the N.S.D. team, plus others outside the label, are featured on this heavy hitting album. Some of the most anticipated tracks of the year are featured on this outstanding compilation. The continuous mix provided by Skism, just goes to show how much flow each of the tracks has in connection with one another. The label does such a great job of keeping their sound unique to their own style, and it can definitely be seen through this album and mix.

I wish I could go through and explain the uniqueness and talent behind each track on this album, but I would have to compile it in a 40 page paper which doesn’t sound too enticing during summer time (or any other time for that matter). With that being said, I will give you my top three favorite tracks on this album. Without a doubt the best track on this album for me is “Skism – Like This (feat Virus Syndicate)”. An incredible track all around from one of the most talented producers in dubstep when it comes to creating unique and crisp sounds that are sure to send any crowd going mental. It is no wonder the Never Say Die operation is doing so well with Skism at the top, making sure nothing but the best possible productions are coming out of the camp. Track number two is “501 – Chasing Stars”. The synths that 501 creates in his tracks are second to none when it comes to individuality. Just bouncing back from a great release of his EP ,Headrush/Falling Skies, he brings some heavy hitting sounds in this track that are sure to pack a punch on any set. Track number three is “Dodge & Fuski – Round One”. I must say this duo has been fabricating some of the best/catchiest melodies in dubstep lately. The popping laser synth sound on the drop sealed the deal for me on this track the first time through. I know many of you are probably thinking what about Zomboy’s remix of “Still Gettin It”, but I hate to say that the prolonging of the release on this one killed the glory of this track for me. Being surfaced almost 11 months ago, the edits and hype around the track had everyone on the edge of their seats waiting for the release and with no release in site, there was no choice but to enjoy those edits. I am happy it finally has released and it is still an amazing remix from a top notch producer, so don’t let that discourage anyone from listening to it or any of the other tracks on this amazing album. You can grab this album on Beatport along with the continous mix provided by the great Skism HERE.

Albums, House | Pryda – SW4 + Album Preview

Posted by on May 8, 2012

Eric Prydz, under one of his two monikers Pryda, the other being Cirez D, has released a single that was country restricted for a day, but is now available for the whole world to enjoy in its full glory. This is what we have come to expect from Pryda with some of the most complex melodies in the business, a chugging bass line and complex layering that make his style truly unique in today’s modern dance scene.

Also if you somehow had not heard about the biggest album to be released in dance music in probably a decade, well Pryda will be releasing a TRIPLE 37 SONG album on May 21st and May 22 in the US. This album brings together songs he has released over past several years, a huge number of tracks fans have just been wanting for years and brand new tracks under his Pryda sound. Listen to the album sampler below and just be blown away at the pure mastery of this man and if this does not convince you to go see him at Identity Festival this summer, I am not sure what will. Though his set was not recorded this past weekend at Inox Festival, I can assure that he is one of the best sets you will see. Another preview from album and the tracklist after the jump.

Albums, Review, Trance | Dash Berlin – #musicislife

Posted by on April 27, 2012

#musicislife, what I hope to be one of the most used hash-tags today. At the moment I am writing this it is Thursday still and I am only 3 tracks in and my mind is completely blown. Dash Berlin is a legend when it comes to vocal Progressive Trance. Armada music must be celebrating this albums success already and it’s not even released yet.

Now this where I have finished listening to this album. I am completely speechless, this was one of the most incredible albums I have listened to in a long time. It is insulting for me to have any favorites from this, each track is amazing on its own. If I was held at gun point my top 5 would be ‘Better Half Of Me,’ ‘Silence In Your Heart,’ ‘Go It Alone,’ ‘Like Plates Spinning,’ and ‘Fool For Life.’ The 5 tracks cut me deep, the emotions of them are almost overwhelming which is why I chose them. To give a run down on all the different vocalists featured on this album would take ages. With that said though, it is incredible how many different great female and male vocalists were featured on this. Including the amount of artists that Dash collaborated with. From now on when people ask me for good Trance, I will just tell them to listen to this entire album.
