Hip-Hop | 2 Chainz – Birthday Song (Ft. Kanye West)

Posted by on July 23, 2012

DSHAQ: TRUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Let’s just say after hearing this fine track, I can’t wait for Based On A T.R.U. Story, 2 Chainz’ debut album. Tity Boi links up with the head honcho over at G.O.O.D. music to create the musical greatness that is this song. Get ready for that album because it’s gone be fire.

“A”: When I first listened to this on my laptop speakers, I wasn’t impressed. The “when I die, bury me inside the Gucci store” is worthy of a few eye rolls to say the least. When I put my headphones on I was able to listen to the beat and there’s a lot of intricate details that your average speakers wouldn’t pick up. Pretty dumb move, if you’re trying to go to radio with this single, if you ask me. With the exception of the beat, there’s really nothing special about the song.

Chill, Hip-Hop | Chance the Rapper – Lift Up

Posted by on July 23, 2012

Loyal Chance the Rapper fans will realize that this song is a few months old. But in my opinion, it did not get the blog love that it deserved. Chance shows off another facet of his game in Lift Up, where he croons smoothly and soulfully, reminiscent of Long Time II and Cordial Invite. The instrumental is slow and matches the vibe given off by Chance perfectly. The song was originally recorded with a group Milo and Otis, and was released on their album, The Joy, which is why it wasn’t seen on the blogosphere.

Drum & Bass | Rusko – Thunder (Tantrum Desire Remix)

Posted by on July 10, 2012

“Thunder” was undoubtedly Rusko’s best track off his new album, and possibly one of the best he has ever created….in my opinion of course. To have a remix of such a great track is a complete waste (for examples please visit Beatport’s contest page for ‘Zedd – Spectrum Remixes’). However, I will give Tantrum Desire huge credit for maintaining that perfect storm in “Thunder” while delivering the Drum & Bass blow. A Drum & Bass VIP from Rusko would have sufficed, but considering how good this remix is, I wont worry too much about it.

Dubstep | Enigma Dubz – Making All These Moves Ft. Katie McCloud (Original Mix)

This release has officially won me over today. The SKisM and DC Breaks collab was a great way to start the day, but ENiGMA Dubz has absolutely crushed them with this single track from his album. Releasing his album “Genesis” today, this Birmingham native has been creating some of the most unique styled tracks I have seen from any artist as of late. Known for tracks that range from Dub/Reggae, to Dubstep, to Hip-Hop, to Garage; it seems as there are no boundaries for him. His intentions were clear on this track, and they were to crush any crowd that hears this heavy, aggressive original featuring Katie McCloud on the vocals. The whole album is an amazing masterpiece, but this track stood out to me the most. Check out the album on Beatport HERE along with Making All These Moves HERE.

Releasing their first single from their upcoming album, The Bright Side, Aer goes back to the more “Feel I Bring” vibe with this track. The catchy, laid back guitar mixed with Carter’s verses and David’s vocals make this the perfect summer song. The Bright Side will be available on July 30th, so make sure to look back for that one. Albums, Dubstep, Electronic, Glitch, Review | Haywyre – Infinite

Posted by on June 25, 2012

After our featured post of Haywyre a few months back, the man was more than grateful and in the opinions of FNT, more than deserving. Today is the release of Haywyre’s 6th musical compilation, the album titled ‘Infinite.’ I cannot stop listening to this new album, Haywyre’s history of piano composition is reflected immensely all over the course of his work. Last minute he teamed up with Jay Fresh to do a vocal mix of his highly anticipated instrumental, ‘Raw Crunch.’ The track was already wanted by all, but now with that extra step into Hip-Hop it is simply irresistible.

“The idea behind the album name “Infinite” came from our tendency to label existences with specific beginnings and ends. The circle represents the possibility of a never-ending existence, as opposed to one with a beginning and an end.”

– Haywyre

Infinite is comprised of many different styles, more prominently Dubstep, but also consisting of Glitch-Hop and little Electro/Lounge styling. His first track ‘Prototype’ kicks off with some smooth Glitch-Hop, as funny as it is to say. The track then breaks into his mastery of the Piano leading only into an incredible Glitch drop. Exclusive to Beatport is his second track, and by far one of the more incredible of the album, ‘LD004.’ This Orchestral Dubstep track really puts the top 10 of Dubstep to shame. The bass is massive, but not messy sounding like a lot of Dubstep theses days. Assembled flawlessly, the repeat button is the only next logical move. By far my favorite track of the entire Album, ‘Raw Crunch’ shows an entire new side tot he potential Glitch-Hop holds. The intro carries you seamlessly into a Razor drop (Dubstep/Electro), and from there you are completely blown away by the composure that Haywyre created for this massive track. ‘Raw Crunch’ finishes off strong in true Glitch-hop fashion, continually blowing your mind until the very end.

His second Exclusive to Beatport, ‘Contrast,’ is another big Glitch-Hop tune. Embodying the idea of contrast, this track floats right into more of that Razor style. I love the name of ‘Stone Shower,’ and once you listen you will understand why. The track has this vibe of rain falling, but breaking from the first simple Glitch drop you quickly are introduced to the bass stones that now wash away all else. The last orignal of the album is yet another favorite of mine from the album. ‘Mezmerize’ does just that to you, I cannot get enough of that Electric Guitar. Listening to the track you wonder where all the bass went. Patience is a virtue, and well worth the wait as the track progresses into an incredible drop. As a bonus, is a remix of ‘LD004’ from The Digital Connection, transforming the track into a more intense Glitch/Dubstep version of the original.  This album has to be one of the best releases I have heard in 2012. Besides the two exclusives to Beatport, ‘Infinite’ is FREE! Don’t be shy to show Haywyre some love and name a higher price on Bandcamp than $0.00. He is more than deserving of the support. I hope everyone else enjoys this album just as much as I have, it truly is a masterpiece.
