Introducing Leaf, an extremely talented artist who is one to watch in 2013. The 17-year-old New York native just dropped her debut mixtape entitled Naked & Wasted in which she raps and sings over a selection of Electronic, Trap and Pop productions. She even goes in over Carnage’s incredible remix of “Spaceman”. Some of my favorite tracks off the tape include “Running”, “Spaceman”, “Lie To Me” , “Can’t Say No” and “Wreckless”. “Naked & Wasted stands for Naked Emotions & Wasted Youth. The title is a mock at society and the culture of my generation at the moment. Everyone follows the same trends, music is only taken at face value (& made to sell) and if you don’t break it down for the listener they’ll never take advantage and look deeper then they should. Naked & Wasted is a compilation of electronic music, trap beats and R&B/Pop vocals. Melodies and lyrics written completely by myself it is truly an open diary of my life, how I feel and how I’m sure many others do as well. This is quite the jam from duo Double Vision. This would be their second single release from their upcoming album “Neon Shades.” The first thing about this track that caught my attention was the uplifting hook that many have grown to love from other groups such as Timeflies. Honestly if I wasn’t told who did this song I might have quickly mistaken it as a new track from Cal and Rez. The production from Lü Balz on this track is flawless, the beat matches to the verses and hook, and progresses perfectly through each part of the song. Seriously though, the hook on this track is too good. Big ups to Double Vision on this monster.

If you’re looking for originality, look no further than Jon Bellion. Following up his previous releases of “Paper Planes” and “LIFE“, the Long Island native has some fun with his newest release, reciting a plot similar to an episode of “My Sisters Hot Friend”. Jon’s organic style is what really stuck out to me in this indie-acoustic jam, written, produced, and performed entirely by Jon himself. Although varying from his two previous releases, Jon once again has shown that necessary x-factor in each video thus far, creating a piece of art like nothing we’re accustomed to seeing. The upcoming project Translations Through Speakers is still slated for a release later this winter.

As if GRiZ’s “You Got To Change” couldn’t get any better, Jackson Breit comes through with an incredible vocal remix of the track. The track is the second single off Jackson’s upcoming In The Shade EP that will be released in the near future. The EP will feature Jackson’s vocals over electronic tracks by Gramatik, Breakbot, FKJ and many others. This latest vocal edit reminds me of a funk-filled mondern take on “No Diggity”.
