If you’ve been following us over the past month, you may have come across an act by the name of Kaptain. This San Francisco creator dished out two singles leading up to the release of his full When The Sky Shimmers EP that dropped yesterday. We shared with you both “When The Sky Shimmers,” and “Testament” which blew me away, and now “Every Day of the Week” is here. Kaptain keeps his funky style intact, however he leans much more on the future sound in his production. Wavering synth work is matched with funky guitar and thick basses. It’s the perfect mix of a whole lot of things, and the wait was certainly worth the hype. Kaptain has been dominating playlists lately, which should come as no surprise. This dude has some real talent.

In comes Kaptain to the rescue with his newest single called “Testament.” This single is the second release off the San Francisco producer’s EP, When The Sky Shimmers, that drops on February 24th. The first single blew me away, and this second one may even be better. Kaptain isn’t the only one you will find on this gem, as he enlists vocalist Grant Genske for a soulful and lively performance. Willdabeast brings some live instruments to the table, including trumpet, trombone and flute. “Testament” is the full package. Not only is it a great tune, but it’s a free download, so you have no reason not to get it. Take it with you on your Valentine’s Day gatherings, and you’ll be thanked appropriately.

Kaptain is one of those smaller artists who puts out nothing but quality music. If you’re into chiller stuff, and you don’t know of this San Francisco artist, then you are missing out. Luckily, he released a new free original today called “Yesterday Will Float Away.” For fans of Kaptain, you’ll recognize the guitar from his long time partner Brizzy who’s been featured on several tracks, but you may not be familiar with the vocalist Carly Jaquier; unless you were at GRiZ’s Red Rocks show, where she performed with the future funk king. She flexes her pipes in this song, which is one for the record books. Kaptain’s laid-back production is just the perfect thing to melt away your pains of the week. Press play, and prepare to be absorbed into its cosmic vibrations.

Gallant’s recently released single, “Weight In Gold,” has become one of this summer’s anthems. The LA-based R&B artist has a voice that is so unbelievably clean and smooth that it just lends itself perfectly to being remixed, and nearly every producer who could get their hands on “Weight In Gold” has delivered their own take on the track. One of the best remixes of “Weight In Gold” comes courtesy of Louis Futon, who infuses the track with his trademark futuristic style. Glitched out synths and rumblings bass lines perfectly complement Gallant’s soaring vocals and only further emphasize the stunning downtempo style of the remix. You can check it out above.
