Progressive House | Vandalism feat. Nick Crow – Anywhere Else Tonight (JAKO Remix)
Posted by Mel on September 26, 2013
Lucas Bojakowski, now going under the name JAKO, has released another great track. This time a remix to Vandalism’s “Anywhere Else Tonight”. I wasn’t very fond of the vocals at first but after listening to it whilst rowing a boat down a dirty river by myself in the nude while people called me fat, I came around. Free download of course.

I have also decided to include his latest original with the vocals from 3LAU and Paris & Simo’s “Escape” mashed over top.

Pop, Progressive House | The Wanted – We Own The Night (The Chainsmokers Remix)
Posted by Mel on September 23, 2013
After getting big by brilliantly remixing tracks and giving them away for free, The Chainsmokers have sold out worse than Calvin Harris and made TWO tracks in a row that are only available on Beatport. These guys are some real jerks. I forgive them though because they are nice to me. This track really needs no explaining if you’ve heard any of their other stuff. An indie-pop instrumental with a touch of progressive house, this time accompanied by the vocals to The Wanted’s “We Own The Night”. More reminiscent of their “Julian” remix than their more progressive stuff. If you feel like throwing a nickel their way then head over to Beatport to grab it. If not or if you live in Canada where it is for some reason restricted in, then you know where to go.

Progressive House | Kaskade – Atmosphere (Stereoshock Remix)

A young Australian boy once kissed me on the cheek in the second grade and I just took it. I didn’t know how to react. That moment was a new experience for me and so is every time I listen to a new track from Stereoshock. He is without a doubt one of the most creative and unique producers out there right now. For his latest project he took to remixing Kaskade’s “Atmosphere”, a song that many people adore but not me (“Eyes” is still easily his best track of the last few years). His remix starts off incredibly strong (like my distaste for guys who wear Toms) with one of the best intros I’ve heard in a while. Then the main piano hits and is complimented with the many layers of sounds and effects that is unique to him. The lead melody during the drop is perhaps his best yet. This is another solid outing from him and yet again he leaves me excited for his next track.

Progressive House | Paris Blohm – Believe
Posted by Mel on September 14, 2013
This has certainly been a breakout year for LA based producer Paris Blohm and after a few months wait, he is now back with another free original. Instead of taking the darker, hard hitting route that most of his songs tend to go, he has chosen to show his more harmonic and cheerful style in a rather short but fun instrumental. Like his most popular song “Presence”, this too is dedicated to his lost sister Chloe.

Alternative, Chill, Electronic | Introducing: Kings & Others
Posted by Mel on September 10, 2013
If you couldn’t tell by my lack of posts in general and my passive-aggressive remarks when I do, I have been slowly driven away from the arms of my once infatuated lover that is progressive house. I am not going to go into why this has happened as you can probably figure out the reasons if you have been listening to the genre for any significant amount of time. In any case, this post isn’t about me or the direction of my once favorite genre, it is about a producer that is actually fairly unique. One that doesn’t just stick to a single formula and has a multitude of styles. This producer is Kings & Others, a 22 year old from the Caribbean.
Having been producing for six years, his releases are fairly frequent and well done. They range from funky, disco inspired tracks to upbeat, summery tracks. You can never guess which style he will go to next but you can be sure it won’t be generic. Even with over 25 tracks, he has only accumulated 200 followers on Soundcloud and has received practically no support, with the one exception being from Monsieur Adi. I figure it’s time artists like him start getting rewarded instead of the ones taking the easy route of making forgettable big room and progressive house tracks. I am fully aware that many of you still very much enjoy the pop music that is passing as progressive house these days and that’s cool, I do too. Within a few weeks I’ll probably be loving the new Avicii album and whatever generic stuff I come across on Soundcloud but for now I’m not. If anyone else is currently feeling the way I do then I hope Kings & Others can provide you with a little bit of a fresh air in this crowded house scene. My two favorites are below as well as more of his best work after the break. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention this but all of his tracks are free.
Progressive House | Icona Pop – Girlfriend (Ted Nights Bootleg)
Posted by Mel on September 8, 2013
I don’t have much time, too many girls know my email so I’ll make this quick. Here is a progressive house remix of Icona Pop’s “Girlfriend” by the Swedish Ted Nights, just like it says in the title. There isn’t really much more for me to say. This track sounds like almost every other track I post. It’s formulaic and doesn’t bring anything new to the table. Sadly though, this is what the genre has become and for those of you who still enjoy it, you will probably like this.

Pop, Progressive House | Kim Cesarion – Undressed (Tjernberg Bootleg) + B3TA and Callaway & Rosta remixes
Posted by Mel on September 3, 2013
Ever since this track was previewed 20 days ago, I have been eagerly awaiting its release. So much so, that I scoured soundcloud for any other remix of this song to see if there were any that could satisfy me until I could finally download Tjernberg’s remix. The answer to that is there was, and I have also included those after the break if you want to see for yourself which one you like best. Kim Cesarion is an amazing singer from the land of Sweden, which explains why you nor I had heard of him before and why pretty much everyone who remixed this is also Swedish. Tjernberg provided the perfect instrumental to compliment the superb vocals and even though it is pretty much a pop song, I still find it very enjoyable. Free download below and if you want to hear a couple of other great remixes of this song then click past the break.
