The guys over at Monstercat in celebration of their 16th compilation are making it available free for download for 2 hours only starting at 12PST on their newly revamped website http://monstercat.prd.cr/ . The long awaited album includes tracks by 28 talented artists who successfully push the boundaries of modern dance music, traversing 13 genres. One cool thing that happened to me this year was that I got hired on to write for FNT. I have followed this website for years and it has led me to mountains of great music. I’m glad that I now have the opportunity to share music with the website. This year I became a bigger fan of mixes; I love to see what artists can do when given an extended period of time within which they can be creative. Below is the list of 10 mixes that I liked the most from this past year, with some other mixes mentioned at the end that didn’t make this list based on who knows what. The list is more or less ranked in order, with mix #1 definitely being my favourite. If you don’t want to listen to all of the mixes, and don’t care what I have to say about them, then skip ahead and at least listen to the number 1 mix – Space Jams by The M Machine (hence the above, cool picture of those guys). Here at FreshNewTracks, we love chasing down a good story. Red Vision Records in El Paso, Texas is one of the stories you can’t help but share. Earlier today, I was cruising the interwebs and I came across a story from our friends at Your EDM. The title of the sort was “Serial Song Thief ‘Havirest’ Angers KOAN sound, Asa, SKisM, and EDM Community” The article was fascinating, so I decided to do a little digging. Well, a lot of digging. This is where it gets fun.
In addition to ASA, Koan Sound, and SKisM, our friend Collin McLoughlin was targeted too. Particularly, his “Chasing Ghosts” single from his extremely popular “Tears Of Tempo” EP. Collin tweeted about the trickery moments ago. I say he should be flattered, but it’s pretty shitty behavior to say the least. I decided to track down these ole’ chaps at Red Vision Records in El Paso, Texas. Here’s what I found…
