Chill, Trap | phazz x the ninetys – touch me

Posted by on October 28, 2013

Once again I’ve got another banger from The Ninetys for you! “Touch Me” is a track that The Ninety’s and Phazz collaborated on. Bringing together their skills from the UK and France, this collab is amazing. The Ninetys trap style drums are clean and crisp, and bring the bass to the track. Phazz has a way with melodies that is clearly displayed on this track. Overall it’s a nice chill song for your collection, and it’s free!

Events, Exclusive | Countdown to ADE Spotlight: Rustie

Posted by on October 16, 2013

Tomorrow, Fresh New Tracks will be jetting off to the Netherlands for ADE: Amsterdam Dance Event, a five-day electronic music festival, conference, and playground taking over the city. Leading up to ADE, we’ll be filling you in on just who and what we’re looking forward to seeing most. And if any of you out there have any insider tips on the best acts to catch, drop either VMan or myself a line and we’ll be sure to add it to our list.

Name: Rustie
Born: January 4th, 1983 (30)
Homebase: Glasgow
Previous Occupations: Apprentice park keeper and tractor operator (source)
Latest Release: “Triadzz / Slasherr”

I’m ashamed to admit producer Rustie really only entered my radar within the past 6 months after falling head over heels in love with the Flume remix of “Slasherr” and consequently the EP’s other half, “Triadzz.” Since then I’ve diving further into his discography, specifically his album, Glass Swords, which was recognized by the Guardian for their first album award in 2012.You might have also noticed his contribution to Danny Brown’s latest game-changing album, “Old.”

The beginning of Rustie’s electronic career could be described as “aquacrunk,” but has since continuously evolved through various artistic styles and trends, while staying true to it’s hip-hop, 8-bit, and grunge roots. It’s dynamic, spontaneous, and unpredictable, which makes it much more of a rewarding listening experience. Even after having his works on repeat for the past few days, I have no idea what to expect in his live set – I mean, other than potentially a guitar? – nevertheless, the anticipation is killing me.

So, if you can’t make it across the pond to Amsterdam this weekend, I’ve got a solution for you. During his set at the Numbers x Lockdown Showcase at Paradiso on Friday, take an hour or two (considering the event lasts for 6!) to dive into some of his stuff. I’ll leave his legendary BBC 1 mix here for you in case you need a starting point…

From the vocalist who brought you Calvin Harris’ festival anthem “Thinking About You,” Ayah Marar releases stunning visuals for “Beg Borrow Steal” off her debut album “The Real.” It seems that everywhere I turn couples are breaking up, as we settle into Fall, and this is the perfect track to get you through the heartache. I’m no love doctor, but you’re going to feel some kind of way after you watch this video, and listen to this record! Also check out iTunes remix package with huge remixes by DSK CHK, The Robot Dentist and UK producers the Super Stylers. MUST LISTEN!

I introduced you guys to Brooklyn native G4shi a few months back with his record “Who Made Me” and he’s back with “Born Broke,” produced by UK producers SuccessMusic. G4shi has lived a hell of a life, from being born in North Africa, from Albanian parents, to moving to Brooklyn during his teenage years. This past year though things have been looking up  for him, as he’s been featured on MTV, and is getting spins from Peter Rosenberg on his Hot 97.1 show. Keep it up G4shi, you’re getting closer to your American dream! Must listen!

Chill, Dubstep | Sizzlebird – Peace Of Mind

Posted by on October 8, 2013

If you’re looking for some chillout music, you’ve come to the right place. Sizzlebird, from the UK, has been producing for a few years now, and is a trained classical violinist – which is evident in this track. The violin floats along with the chill dubstep beats, and has some clear Celtic influence. The track as a whole is a beautiful piece. This one’s free if you’re into it!

Ambient, Drum & Bass, Electro | GXSP – I.C.E.

Posted by on October 6, 2013

This dude has got some serious underground talent. People in the UK love him, so I think it’s about time we all get on the GXSP bandwagon. ‘I.C.E.’ drops at about 1:30 and it HITS. With a bouncy melody and great subs, here’s the tune of the hour to wind down to on your mellow (or not so mellow) Sunday night.

Rudimental

Rudimental have taken the world by storm. Their single “Feel The Love” rose to the top of the charts in the UK and became a worldwide phenomenon. They have not stopped there with a host of other chart topping singles like “Not Giving In” and “Waiting All Night”. Their live show is about as energetic and “live” as there is in dance music, bringing what they call “a carnival atmosphere” to every festival and city they visit. The foursome have come a long way with their album “Home”, showing their strong UK dance influences, while keeping it soulful and unique on every track.

We had the chance to chat with them after their show with Emili Sandé two weeks ago in Central Park and talk about their incredible music videos, trying to build on their success and what they have coming up, including tracks with The Game and Ed Shereen. Click past the jump for the full interview, but before you do, watch their video for “Right Here”, it is epic. You can grab their now Platinum selling album “Home” on iTunes here. Big congrats to the guys for that!
