“Crawled Out Of The Sea” by Nick Leng was brought to my attention today and it’s that much needed sound vacation I’ve needed. Sometimes a nice little chill record is all the soul needs, and Mr. Leng delivers. I would classify this tune as chillwave with a little bit of trap. Word is Basenji is working on a remix, and another remix by a very popular producer that I won’t give away until confirmed. I can’t remember if I’ve ever posted a glitch track, but what better day than my birthday to try something new? I couldn’t be happier I found it today since, as some of you know, Chicago is dangerously cold right now and we could use a distraction. “Gotta Get Some Sleep” by CloZee is fun, bouncy, and has a great mood to it. The horns and bass are funky and fresh. I’ve been following CloZee for a few years now, and she always impresses me. The slow section around 3:10 is a cool surprise so look out for that! This song is free on Bandcamp along with a lot of other sweet songs on the “Whompadelic Trip” album.

DJ Snake ended the year with a #1 on the iTunes Dance chart with Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What,” announcing a residency in Las Vegas at Wynn Resorts, and back to back shows in NYC and San Diego to bring in the new year. Not slowing down, and for no reason in particular, today he releases a mash up of Prodigy and Mercer entitled “Breathe (Parisian Vision).” Go into this track with no expectations, the drop is going to be a slap in the face, one like you’ve never heard it before. Everytime I check up on Rockwell Knuckles he has something new, and today he released the “David Ruffin Theory,” a collaborative mixtape with Tef Poe, and you shouldn’t sleep on it. From being songwriters, lyricists, and entertainers, Rockwell and Tef can do it all, and showcase this on their project with witty hooks, dope flows, and epic beats. I’m still on my first play of the mixtape, and I’m loving it so far, ya’ll should check out the visuals for the lead single “Head Full Of Smoke.” I sincerely hope we see more of these 2 in 2014, they deserve it, only a matter of time till they get a radio hit! Folks, forget anything you were listening to these past days, Duke Dumont’s latest single featuring Jax Jones “I Got You” premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC radio show, will make you forget all of that. This is the track of 2013, and 2014 in my opinion. You might know the Grammy nominated Duke Dumont through his hit record “Need You (100%) ” that made its way around the dance world, and notably by the remix produced by NYC based producer Dave Edwards which made it to #1 on the Hypem chart, and this follow up single let’s us know that Mr. Dumont is here to stay, so get familiar! I shit you not, I’ve had this record on repeat ever since I’ve heard it, but hey it’s my birthday today, so I do what I wanna! This is a must listen!
