Yes, I know it’s not Thursday yet, but sorry to all you Twitter and Instagram freaks out there, I couldn’t wait for #TBT (Throwback Thursday) to post this one. The title really says it all, Diplo got stoned and mixed really old records for half an hour. Don’t even try to tell me this funky, psychedelic mix of old jams isn’t the best early #TBT gift ever. Give this one a listen (and maybe get stoned) when you have 30 minutes to enjoy the whole thing and soak up how stoned Diplo really must have been to throw this together for us. After discovering Rey Marrasquin almost a year ago, I was instantly captivated by his unique style of visual art. Rey’s creative process goes a little something like this: he hops on the his favorite music website (FNT of course!) and finds an inspirational track. With his creative juices now steadily overflowing, Rey creates a masterpiece, and best of all… he films the entire process.
Watching his growth over the past year and thoroughly enjoying each of his new videos made me realized that FNT needed to get a piece of the action, before it was too late. The video above features the mural that we commissioned to hang in the FNT headquarters. Something tells me that you might recognize a few of these bright stars of the EDM galaxy…

Hip-Hop | Macklemore – Victory Lap

There’s nothing that brightens up my day more than new Macklemore. Ben Haggerty is here to stay, and so is Ryan Lewis. The man tells stories, his music is unlike anything else out right now, and that’s what makes him special. If anyone disagrees, feel free to sound off in the comments and let me know, because I’ll back Mackelmore up to death(flame war). Ryan Lewis, the other half of this faboulous duo, can do no wrong. Every beat he crafts allows Mack to easily paint vivid pictures in our minds. Victory Lap is Macklemore’s piece off of the “XXL Freshman List Mixtape,” and it outshines everything, in my opinion. Food For Thought: Macklemore is the difference between RAP and HIP-HOP. He’s an artist, not a rapper.

One of the first artist I ever posted during my original blogging days(I won’t give you the link, it’s too embarrassing), Cello Kid, recently got back in to touch with me and I couldn’t be more amazed of the work he’s been doing since our loss of touch. He sent over his “Mini-mixtape” filled with hard hitting songs of about 1:30-2:30 minutes long. I’ve included my favorite two, but check out the whole thing here.

Oh. Hell. Yes. I’ve been counting down the days until this release and now it’s finally upon us. What is “Gladiator,” you ask? Basically it’s what happens when Oliver Twizt and Sandro Silva light the fuse on about 400 tons of straight up dancefloor C4 (Cfloor?) and then watch as the whole thing explodes. For the record, I’m not exaggerating — I haven’t been able to get this hook out of my head for weeks. Yes, you’re going to have to cruise over to Beatport for the DL. No, I don’t want to hear you complaining. Because at the end of the day, when you’re over at your friend’s place and your iPod’s plugged in and 11:07 pm rolls around and now people are looking to you to take the gathering to the next level, you’re going to want to be able to reach for this one.

Live City are back again with another EP that is able to match the quality of the last one. A 4 song EP consisting of 3 originals and an edit of Bingo Player – Rattle, this EP has something for everyone. They mix heavy electro synths and distortions with smooth progressive synths to create a total package in each song. The production is top notch and each song is creative and different in their own right. The first track “My Robot will F*ck You Up” may be the track that helps give them some real popularity and set them on the path to success because it is a massive with an uplifting build of progressive and rising synths with stutters and then crescendos into a huge heavy electro drop. The other songs are all very good, with a personal favorite being “Lexington” and the whole EP is free so do not miss this.
