I’ve been a fan of SomeKindaWonderful since their debut single, “Reverse,” off of their first studio album, SomeKindaWonderful. The Cleveland-based rock band has been on a steady rise to stardom, as their unique fusion of electronic music with live elements of a rock band is hard to find in dance music. Today, they’ve teamed up with fellow electronic rockers, Ratatat, for a mashup of their unreleased track, “The Problematics,” with Ratatat’s new single, “Cream on Chrome” that will blow you away. Ratatat’s electro-rock production provides the perfect canvas for vocalist Jordy Towers’ alluring croons. Plain and simple, this track is some kinda wonderful. Future House | SomeKindaWonderful – California Love (Chachi Remix)

This man Chachi has been on a hot streak for a few months now with his throwback remixes of songs like ‘Land Down Under‘ and ‘The Way I Are‘. With several Hypem #1s  under his belt and a clear musical brand pushing him forward, the opportunities for this New York-based artist seem endless. SomeKindaWonderful’s team reached out to Chachi to do an official remix of their cover of ‘California Love’ and the result is a sweet future house song reminiscent of Oliver Heldens style. Chachi adds his own flavor to the mix by sprinkling some purposeful string work into the verses. Keep an eye on this player as he seems to be making a much bigger splash this year than last.

Electronic | Dirty South – With You + Tunnel Vision

dirty south with you

With his album coming out on November 4th, Dirty South has previewed two more tunes from the album, in addition to “Unbreakable” last month. There aren’t any drops on these tracks, especially “With You” that has more of an orchestral sound to it, with a slow, progressing arrangement as soft male vocals compliment the strings and steady chords. “Tunnel Vision” is much darker than what we have heard from Dirty South in many years with brooding, rolling synth chords and the haunting vocals of SomeKindaWonderful.

Both tunes feature bands on the ATM band roster, which Dirty South is a part of with his duo Ruben Haze, so it is no surprise to see them on these tracks and also nice to see him turn to bands for features. It is just another step in the new direction of Dirty South’s music. You can get “Tunnel Vision” now if you are in the US, so head to iTunes to grab it.

Progressive House | SomeKindaWonderful – Reverse (Steve James Remix)

Play SomeKindaWonderful - Reverse (Steve James Remix)

The common theme in the music of Steve James is melody. It is always at the forefront and is the most memorable part of his tracks. This is demonstrated once again in his most recent release, a remix of SomeKindaWonderful’s “Reverse”. As the vocals end approaching the build, that’s when the excellent melody takes over and carries the song the rest of the way. For a variety of reasons, although most notably because in the tenth grade I was punched in the stomach by a girl, Steve James has not yet appeared on FNT. For those of you who were unaware of him and enjoy the track, be sure to check out his Soundcloud. There’s some great stuff on it.

Dubstep | SomeKindaWonderful – Police (Vanic Remix)

SomeKindaWonderful - Police (Vanic Remix)

Vancouver based dubstep producer, Vanic takes Cleveland band, SomeKindaWonderful’s “Police” and adds some dubstep heat to it. Vanic has become a very deft remixer thus far in his career, having taken on an official remix for Topher Jones on Ultra, and a host of other outstanding unofficial efforts. Generally dubstep this heavy does not tickle my fancy, but the slight reggae influences and the strong melodic feel, make this palatable for all music tastes. Vanic has proved himself as a remixer, but we hope to see more originals from him. You might just be seeing one sooner than you might know….

The 3 piece band from Cleveland, Ohio, SomeKindaWonderful sent over their GTA V inspired lyric video to their latest track “Police” and this is quality music. The sound is some kind of modern reggae mixed with soul and rock.  Fun fact about this group, the lead singer Jordy Towers was signed to Interscope for a few years as a rapper, until he was dropped because he didn’t give in to industry demands to change his style. Could the camo butterfly logo be the symbol behind his transformation as an artist and what’s to come? I think it’s Interscope’s loss with this one, this band is the shit! Must listen!

Swedish producer Oliver Nelson has been killing it with the remixes recently. Just yesterday he released a chill dance remix of SomeKindaWonderful ‘s “Reverse” and it sounds too cool. Funk and disco have been in this summer, and I’m not against the wave. The vocals on this track mesh perfectly with the dance flow of the record. Let this one play, and enjoy your Saturday! Must listen and must download!

Here’s another dope remix by Oliver Nelson of Everywhere’s “Eddie.” Something about the beginning that reminds of Toto’s “Africa,” and I mean that with all respect…
