Pop, Progressive House | Maroon 5 – Love Somebody (It’s The Kue Remix!)
Posted by Mel on June 29, 2013
My favorite song of all time is “Payphone” by Maroon 5. It is for that reason that I will always have a soft spot in my heart for them no matter what. I was already a fan of their original “Love Somebody” but DJ Kue made it that much better by adding a touch more energy to it and a great drop. I have had this on repeat since I first heard it.
Chill, Indie | SPIRITANIMAL – Forever Ago (Prod. by DREAMGHOST)
Posted by Mel on June 25, 2013
Tucked deeply away in the depths of my bedside drawer is a box of tissues. I don’t keep them out in the open because, quite frankly, it’s embarrassing. Nobody wants to know what I do when things didn’t go as planned and I’m all alone in my bed at night. Well, the sun hasn’t even set yet but the box is out of the drawer. You see, I like to make paper mache hats out of slightly damp tissues. How it becomes damp is none of my concern. One cannot simply construct these hats with pants on or without music and house is far to frantic for the delicacy and concentration required so it cannot do. It is for that reason I turn to the soothing sounds of chillwave. Chillwave, in a sense, is the shirtless Adam Levine of the music world. Not many search for it, but once in a while you’ll come across a pic and, not bad. A collaboration between SPIRITANIMAL and DREAMGHOST, whose names are in all caps for some reason, was my shirtless pick for the day (I picked it while shirtless). Whether you are driving around the city or just having fun with damp tissues, this song will fit the occasion.
Indie, Interviews, Progressive House | ASTR – Operate (The Chainsmokers Remix) + Exclusive Interview
Posted by Mel on June 20, 2013
It has been roughly four months since my hand slightly grazed my sister’s friend’s thigh. Coincidentally, it has also been about four months since I first heard of The Chainsmokers. Since then, my hand has been many places but none as sweet as that. I have also watched The Chainsmokers grow from two decent looking guys to two excellent looking guys who make awesome music. Their first remix that got my attention was of Jonsi’s “Around Us”. That track… it made me feel for the first time. Sara B, the girl who had a crush on me in eleventh grade, I get you now. The Chainsmokers taught me how to love. Since then I’ve learned to take it, roll it up into a ball, toss it in the air and if there’s not a steady current of wind, I smash that into oblivion.
Picture yourself walking through the city late one night when you see a beautiful girl sitting in a coffee shop eating a plum. She is facing outward toward the street and the store’s walls are glass so you two can see each other. You want to go talk to her but you can’t find the door to get in. Not being able to figure out where the entrance is, you go up to the glass and relentlessly stare at her. Upon closer inspection you realize that she is in fact eating an oddly shaped apple not a plum. “Why are you eating an apple?” you mouth to her. You can hear her say through the glass while turning the apple “no no, this is a plum”. After seeing the flesh of the fruit it is indeed a plum. You then turn around to go home and find $20 on the ground.
The combination of slight disappointment, confusion, and joy that night brings is what I think of their latest remix.
We also had a chance to talk to them about life’s most important questions, such as “If you were to suddenly wake up in the middle of the night for seemingly no reason and upon looking to the nearest wall saw a hole that has never been there before the size of the middle, cardboard part of a roll of toilet paper, would you stick stuff in it?”. Click past the break if you want to laugh, cry, and be inspired.
Hip-Hop | Fortune Family feat. JohnieB – Gravity (Video)
Posted by J_Salzer on May 6, 2013
Boy, have I missed these two. Although I have been in constant communication with Reef, I have been missing the music of he and his partner more than I am willing to admit on a public website. But fear not, the Fortune Fam is back for seconds. When they broke up, I knew it would only be a matter of time before they ran back into each other’s arms like lost puppies because they missed seeing me so eloquently write about their music. Now I’m sure that’s not the only reason, but I’m sure it is one. Their come back effort does not miss a beat, and picks up right where they left off, no doubt Reef has been practicing in his shower waiting for the day where he and Hop reunited. Welcome back to the blogosphere boys, we missed you.
Dubstep | R Rated #67
Posted by Sev on April 17, 2013
This weeks R Rated is filled with amazing free downloads, but to start it off we have a aggressive yet melodic mix for you guys. Konec has been an artist we have been keeping an eye on for quite some time now and seeing him on Darkstep’s channel came to us as quite a shock. Darkstep is known for his heavy hitting, less melodic uploads, but he saw something in this mix that made him post it. The whole mix is full of amazing tracks released and unreleased that Konec threw together in preparation for his EP release that is still TBA. This mix features the four tracks that are going to be on the Futures EP and they are all quality.
We haven’t had a free download from xKore in quite some time now, but we finally got one. Not any of his own material yet, but this remix will do until we hear about his next EP. Having already had one remix for Modestep released on their album, this one was just a complementary gift. The track keeps xKore’s highly known aggressive style intact and provides some great vocals to go along from Modestep.
This next track was kind of hard to categorize, for two reasons. One reason is that it sounds nothing like a trap track, yet thats what Cazzette decided to label it as. The second reason is because this isn’t Cazzette’s usual style, so using my best judgement I felt R rated was the best fit for it. The title might throw you off being that everyone is sick of the Harlem Shake already, but Cazzette don’t really use much of the original and created a pretty heavy drop as a replacement.
Looks like Terravita are a little too excited for 4/20. They couldn’t wait a few more days to release this banger, but I’m not really complaining about having this track early. This awesome reggae influenced dubstep remix is the perfect tune for everyone’s 4/20 celebrations no matter what you are doing.
We have already posted our favorite remix of Getter’s – Fallout by Masq, but Nato Feelz put out this amazing close second so we thought it deserved a post. Besides some of the vocal samples, Nato Feelz doesn’t use much more in this remix which made the track stand out even more.
Dubstep, Electronic | Crywolf – Ghosts EP
Posted by Mel on April 10, 2013
Aside from the rather lackluster Brazzers update, today was a pretty good day. Not only did my mom buy me Abercrombie cologne for some reason, but Crywolf’s new EP finally dropped. I should preface this by saying I am not a huge fan of dubstep. In fact, the last dubstep song I remember downloading was two years ago and it was from the master of dubstep, the one true god, Skrillex. Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites was it. Now just because I don’t download any doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a good dubstep song. Luckily though, Crywolf’s EP spans multiple genres which range from dubstep to chill electronic. Justin Phillips, aka Crywolf, does his own vocals which for me is the highlight of the EP. My favorite track is easily “Ghosts”, primarily because his vocals are really put on display here and is complimented perfectly by a chill instrumental. “The Moon Is Falling Down” and “The Home We Made Pt. II” are available as free downloads on his Facebook. Be sure to grab the rest of the EP on iTunes.

Indie, Videos | Cliff Jumping Hawaii – Proof [Radical Something – Step Right Up]
Posted by LoffyG on March 21, 2013
Lets take a break from the music quick, well almost, to check out this amazing cliff jumping video by Devin Supertramp. If you’ve never heard of Devin he’s one of the biggest YouTube video makers in the world with nearly 200,000,000 views! You’re probably wondering why I would post this on here, but the reason is that Devin chose to cut this video to Radical Something’s latest tune “Step Right Up”. That’s definitely really big for them. Be on the lookout for some new Radical Something videos coming very soon as they just finished up their tour. Also check out Devin’s channel as he has tons of great extreme videos!
