Indie, Pop | KO KO – Float

Posted by on March 28, 2012

My goodness, Float is the essence of refreshment. KO KO is a band based out of Los Angeles that is comprised of brothers Ryan and Taylor Lawhorn, they define their sound as having never experienced winter, accurately said given this cheery melody that practically inhales and exhales beautiful weather. They started this project in January 2012 and it’s clear, they are here to remain in the ears of many. The imagery of their sound is a cool and breezy daydream that encapsulates summer vibes all the way through. A breath of fresh air with an ocean in your backyard.

Hip-Hop | Huey Mack – Good Night (Prod. Kato)

Posted by on March 22, 2012

After receiving the dope song, “Nothing Back” from Huey Mack earlier this week, we are blessed with another. This is off SKMA’s upcoming project, A Kato Production. SMKA is an independent music group that has worked with a plethora of different artists on various projects. If you aren’t familiar with Kato he’s a music producer out of Atlanta and he’s worked with major artists from Lil Scrappy to Roscoe Dash. Remember Huey’s upcoming project, A Boy Named Hue drops April 23rd! I’m definitely feeling this one, Good Night.

Videos | Clinton Sparks Debuts Lit Remix With Ajay Popoff

Posted by on March 14, 2012

Sampling Lit’s classic 90’s anthem, “My Own Worst Enemy”, Clinton Sparks recently performed his new remix at Orange County’s Yost Theatre with leader singer Ajay Popoff. Not only is this remix absolute audio fire, it takes me back to those nostalgic “Now That’s What I Call Music” days. Although the final version hasn’t dropped yet, you can expect it to be on Clinton’s forthcoming “My Awesome Mixtape 3” which is rumored to drop in April. If “My Awesome Mixtape 3” is anything like “My Awesome Mixtape 2” then we’re in for another solid project. Excuse me while I put on my grunge inspired flannel button down.

Mixtapes | Action Bronson & Party Supplies- Blue Chips

Posted by on March 12, 2012

I don’t care who your favorite rapper is. I really don’t. Action Bronson will son him every single time. I’m blown away right now, no homo. I haven’t been this impressed with a mixtape since Drake’s “So Far Gone”. There’s not a bad song on this entire project. Not one. Unbelievable. Get your forks out, this is gourmet rap. Cue the Nick Nolte “Blue Chips” opening scene rant! You should be blogging in your jock straps.

Mixtapes | D. Tucker- Somewhat Good Is Okay Vol. 2 (FNT Exclusive)

Posted by on March 1, 2012

FreshNewTracks.com is proud to exclusively bring you D.Tucker’s sophomore project, “Somewhat Good Is Okay Vol.2”. This 23-year-old alternative hip-hop sensation, founder of the YachtLife (Young. Ambitious. Creative. High-standard. Talented. Lifestyle.) set sail in the Bahamas and made his way to Miami where he currently resides. Earlier this week, I asked D.Tucker about his first project, what his goals where, and what philosophy his music was guided by. He replied:

When I recorded my first mixtape I was at the end stage of switching my career from a professional photographer into a full time alternative rap / hip-hop artist. I was excited to be utterly focus on, SGIOV2, painting my stories of love and ambitions for YachtLife. As an artist I want to continue to push my creativity to make better work and ultimately make me the best me that I could be. My new fans will eventually learn that I take my craft serious and I work my ass off to better myself for a number of reasons other than kicking it on the beach with in my Sperrys, with Stellas and models. I want to inspire people, make them feel good and let them know that they can do anything that they want to when they put their mind to it with some good work ethics. To say it again in simple terms, I want the people to know that life become a non-stop vacation when you make your passion your profession.

Indeed, this budding artist is doing just that- relentlessly chasing his dreams with an unwavering vision. If D. Tucker continues to drop projects a strong as this mixtape, I predict he’ll be on a Yacht somewhere off the coast of San Tropez in no time. I’ve included my favorite tracks below as well as a download link to the entire project. Hit “read on” for the tracklist.
