Ex FNT blogstar, SeñorScoop, pushed this track in front of me a couple weeks ago.  He said dude, “Listen to this chick.  She’s the next Rihanna.” I took it with a grain of salt (as I usually do) and gave it a listen.  Decent, good at tops.  I was wrong – this song is magical.  The 22-year old Cuban-American boasts vocals equivalent to Rihanna’s deeper notes, continuously delivering honest, edgy lyrics over a slow piano driven production.  This is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs.  Oh, and if it’s any indication that she’s destined for success, Sylvia Rhone (arguably one of the most powerful women in the music industry) was the one who gave her a platform and eventually signed her to a new division of Epic Records, Vested in Culture.

House, Review | Stars Above – Higher Than The Sky EP

Stars Above - Higher Than the Sky EPhttps://mycookbook-recept.ru/ Above is always serenading me with his touch of Trance on his House tracks. it has been well over 18 months since Stars Above was able to release an original production, but he is now here with two epic tracks. Every time I hear a new tune from Stars Above I imagine myself under a massive tent, then I turn up my volume and get lost in the music. His title track, “Higher Than The Sky” makes me want to throw my arms in the air that high. The second drop breaks into an awesome dance vibe, something to make any big room just lose it. “Daybreak” wakes me up, seriously, it has been my alarm for a few days now and I love it. It is the perfect progression for lightening my mood from “I can’t believe I actually have to get out of bed this morning”. Out of the two, “Daybreak” is definitely my favorite, I am just a sucker for piano and Stars Above delivered.

Progressive House | Admonic & Davies – Ascension

Growing up as a male in an upper middle class white family was rough. Nobody ever gave me a chance. Luckily though, my parents bought me a Macbook and I became a blogger. That all accumulated today when I came across this track. It is very rare that I find something with such exceptional production quality from such seemingly unknown producers. “Ascension” is what I believe progressive house should be. I’m not saying I no longer enjoy it, but it’s obvious that the genre has turned drastically commercial. This track, however, is a true diamond in the rough. Resembling a tad to Porter Robinson’s “Language”, it boasts bright melodies and pulsating synths that are sure to leave you aroused. The best part is, it’s free.

House | Depeche Mode – Soothe My Soul (Steve Angello and Jacques Lu Cont Remix)

Depeche Mode - Soothe My Soul (Steve Angello & Jacques Lu Cont Remix)
After his subpar free release a few weeks ago with Wayne & Woods for the Mio Energy Facebook campaign (try the stuff, it gets you WIRED), Steve Angello gives his first real glimspe at life behind the production curtain post Swedish House Mafia. Stuart Price dons his Jacques Lu Cont moniker for this remix as the two dance music icons link up to put their spin on the first single from Depeche Mode’s 13th studio album.

The remix keeps much of the sound and style of the original, while allowing for experimentation and nuanced additions by Jacques Lu Cont and Steve Angello, slowly building a synth laden climax over the course of the entire song. This track leans more towards Jacques Lu Cont’s current productions and you probably won’t be hearing this in a Steve Angello set, but it is nice to see him show off the variety he possesses in production. Maybe when he puts his Mescal Kid hat on, he would bring out this one.

Electro-House, Trance | W&W – Thunder (Preview)

Posted by on May 6, 2013

W&W MSGThe world was still trying to come back to earth after “Lift Off“, when W&W in association with Ummet Ozcan unleashed “The Code” on the world, sparking mainstages and clubs afire. “The Code” is still heavily in circulation, but that has not stopped W&W from keeping up their nearly vertical assent to the top of the dance music world with another production destined to take them there, “Thunder“. The aptly named “Thunder” continues their recent run of high energy, booming tracks that propel their stardom higher with each passing day. Look for this on May 20th.

The resurgent Parisian has been been quietly releasing some of the best progressive house this year with tracks like “Andromeda” and “Pegasus” showing his production potency. His third release of the year, the celestial loving Frenchman gives us another gem on his newly formed Olympia Records. Arias adds his progressive charm to the track with spacey pads, subtle arps, and an entrancing melody, but switches it up with a quick alternating bass line to add some texture to the interlude.

When looking for amazing melodies and production, look no further than Pegboard Nerds. Having teamed up with the rising star Tristam and the guys over at Monstercat to release this amazing Mid-tempo track, there is no stoping them. Their tracks are so unique and well produced its hard not to be addicted to their style and aggressiveness. Approaching almost the halfway point in the year, if I were to say there is one artist to look out for in 2013 it is undoubtedly the Pegboard Nerds. Nothing but quality comes from this duo and it is all inspiring work.
