Erik Arbores - Get Ready

We first brought you the tunes of Erik Arbores back in 2011, when he has just 14 with his first official release, “Take It EP” on Zouk Recordings. Now two years later, an elder statesman at 16 year old, he has matured as a producer and is ready to deliver on the promise he showed with his fist EP. “Get Ready” shows that maturation with a funky, amen break driven bass line, a powerful drop with quick bursts of electro and a well crafted piano-driven melody. We hope to see more tracks like this from the young Dutchman as continues on with his promising career.

Mashups, Videos | Throttle – What’s That Sound (Live Mashup)

Posted by on September 16, 2013

Remember Madeon’s “Pop Culture”? Of course you do, that thing went next-level viral. Since that video using Novation Launchpad, there have been many people making their own videos doing similar styled mashups, some good, some bad, but nothing with the gusto of “Pop Culture”. Well that may have changed. This mashup goes through 30 songs in just 3 minutes, largely incorporating dance music tracks, but also a few pop vocal samples. He also adds a few of his own piano breaks as well. “Pop Culture” changed the game in terms of mashups, and this aught to seal the deal. You can grab the free download below. Full tracklist after the jump.

Progressive House | Kaskade – Atmosphere (Stereoshock Remix)

A young Australian boy once kissed me on the cheek in the second grade and I just took it. I didn’t know how to react. That moment was a new experience for me and so is every time I listen to a new track from Stereoshock. He is without a doubt one of the most creative and unique producers out there right now. For his latest project he took to remixing Kaskade’s “Atmosphere”, a song that many people adore but not me (“Eyes” is still easily his best track of the last few years). His remix starts off incredibly strong (like my distaste for guys who wear Toms) with one of the best intros I’ve heard in a while. Then the main piano hits and is complimented with the many layers of sounds and effects that is unique to him. The lead melody during the drop is perhaps his best yet. This is another solid outing from him and yet again he leaves me excited for his next track.

Electronic, House | Rasmus Faber – Indian Summer feat. Frida Sundemo

Posted by on September 4, 2013

As evening approaches over here in the land of the tall, blonde and beautiful, I’ve got a spectacular view out my dorm room window of the sun setting in the horizon. Inspiring, to say the least, to watch it while listening to one of my latest discoveries. Now before I give that away, let me tell you I love house just as much as the next frat star but there comes a point, not just for house but all genres, where everything honestly starts to sound the same. I was worried I had reached that point until I stumbled upon Swedish producer (there seems to be a lot of these floating around FNT lately…), Rasmus Faber. And his latest release, titled “Indian Summer” featuring fellow Swede Frida Sundemo stands out to me the most. Like many a great progressive house tracks, it has the heavenly vocals and pulsating beats but instead of the overused builds and drops, Rasmus provides us with a “musical landscape of meandering and looping piano.” Not bad, right?

As I writer I do my best to share my own unique feelings, but considering my circumstances, the track’s description really nails it on the head for me:

Indian Summer evokes lazy, sunny days of happiness, yet with the imminence of autumn comes a slight sense of foreboding and melancholy that is ever-present in Scandinavian culture. Enjoy the last few rays, the swan song, the gentle passing of time as thoughts look to the future and what could be!

Will do, Rasmus.

Everybody loves a familiar song mixed with some excellent production and growling bass, right? Wick-it’s dubstep remix of “Holy Grail” by Jay-Z feat. Justin Timberlake still keeps the unique pacing and rhythm of the original, while spicing it up with more bass and and haunting piano notes. The drops hit super hard and it’s hard not to love the smooth intro as well. This one’s free to download!

Chill, Electronic | Ta-Ku – We Were In Love

Posted by on August 29, 2013

“We Were In Love” is an edit put out to drum up some hype for Ta-Ku’s upcoming album release, “Songs To Break Up To” on HW&W and Sunday Records next month. The vocals are soothing, the beat is crisp and clean, and it’s packed with emotion. The piano is a nice touch as well. Ta-Ku always puts out such sophisticated tracks. I couldn’t be more excited for the album to drop! In the meantime, grab this one for free.

Progressive House | Hello Beddo – Exit at Yemassee

Fans of MitiS, take note: we’ve got a great free download for you this evening from young producer Hello Beddo. “Exit at Yemassee” has a floaty, chilled-out vibe, but picks up the energy with the introduction of some anthemic synths at the drop. We are loving the piano bridge and the way the choppy vocals play against the theme. In short? This track is a melodic gem. Check out Hello Beddo’s Soundcloud for more tunes.
