‘One Hit Wonder’. That one phrase that every artist has nightmares about. For the Yonkers, New York native Outasight, this was starting to become reality.
In 2012 everyone was listening to his single ‘Tonight Is The Night’; your older sister, your little cousin, your mom, even your grandfather knew ‘EVERYBODY GO!’. He was touring nationally, performed at the NHL All Star game and at the age of 29 had finally ‘made it’. Now what? He followed up with some very solid singles ‘Now or Never’ and my favorite, ‘Shine (featuring Chiddy Bang)’, off of the album ‘Nights Like These’. Unfortunately that doesn’t cut it when you had one of the biggest, if not the biggest song of that calendar year.
Over the last year Outasight has gone independent, moved from New York to Los Angeles and has a new sound. While his sound has always had undertones of positivity and good vibes masked by pop production, his new sound is funky as fuck. Catchy guitar riffs, old school horns, funky bass, mixed with some pop and not to mention the clever and catchy writing that got us all hooked on Outasight in the first place. We recently caught up with Outasight and here is what he had to say about moving to Los Angeles and how his new sound came together…
I moved to Los Angeles around a year ago and right away got into the more laid back attitude. I would just throw little parties and bbq’s and the soundtrack was a bunch of 70’s and 80’s funk . I started jamming a bunch with my buddies Cook and Shiben, and everything turned out real funky. The Wild Life was the first track we made, and behind the scenes it ended up getting a bunch of opportunities. The whole process just felt real natural. The record has horns everywhere courtesy of my man Carlos Sosa, it just jams. I’m excited to share it with everyone.
A few months back he debuted his new sound with the single ‘The Wild Life’ which found its way on to the latest run of Bud Light Lime commercials. Today, we get the self titled track off his forthcoming project ‘Big Trouble’. This single is refreshing. If you don’t immediately add this to your summer, beach, or pool playlist you’re missing out.
With music like this you can expect your mother, grandfather, little cousin and older sister will be singing Outasight again very, very soon.

Progressive House | Gabe Almeda Goes Big On Remix of VÉRITÉ’s “Wasteland”
Posted by Tay on July 23, 2015
Philadelphia-native Gabe Almeda is a wizard in the studio, and this can be seen through his summer-ready tracks that he’s been pumping out since his initial emergence just 2 years ago. Up until now he’s been focusing on originals, but for this release, he’s bringing us a remix of VÉRITÉ, a renowned artist from New York. Her song, “Wasteland,” was once a dance-pop gem, but Gabe Almeda took it upon himself to flip it into a progressive house jam, complete with a euphoric vibe and high-energy feel. Enjoy!

House | Bender and Paige Give Lloyd and Lil Wayne’s “Girls Around The World” A Summer-Ready Makeover
Posted by Tay on June 10, 2015
While we may be a few decades (or centuries) away from actually being able to time travel, we have the next best option to take you a few years into the past, thanks to two of New York’s fastest-rising producers, Keith Bender and Paige. Since Bender emerged with his remix of Route 94’s hit, “My Love,” the talented artist has left his mark with his sun-soaked style of future house, and today, he’s taken on Lloyd’s jam, “Girls Around The World” featuring Lil Wayne. Bender and Paige channel the heavy 2008 R&B vibes of Lloyd’s original, but bring it back to the future with a modern-day house revival of the hit, as the two wunderkinds deliver a big, whomping bass line and subtle percussion accents that perfectly complements Lloyd’s croons and Wayne’s verse.

Hailing from New York, MNYS is an unsigned singer and songwriter that just dropped his brand new “Proud” single off his forthcoming “My New York Summer” EP slated to release April 13. Keep an eye on this rising artist. I think he’s got much more in store for us as summer inches closer.

Building on the success of his Gregor Salto commissioned “Geronimo” remix, Clinton Sparks takes on Manolo Rose’s “Run Ricky Run”, an ode to John Singleton’s 1991 Boyz N The Hood drama, which is one of the hottest records in New York at the moment. Complete with a drop that’s club ready, Clinton brings continues his prolific 2015 output, bringing the heat in a major way. This is a big trap ripper.
Alternative, Indie | BEND – Four
Posted by admin on October 7, 2014
Nothing excites me quite as much as young people with a passion for music.
Enter: BEND, the duo of college students who make indescribable Pop/Indie/Alternative sounds from their respective dorm rooms. Both originally from Los Angeles, vocalist, Sean, relocated to New York while producer, Garrett, stayed close to home at the University of Southern California.
Limited by their time apart during the school year, BEND spends countless hours during the Summer writing, producing, and recording. As they prepare to release their next project, Sean and Garrett unleash, “Four”. The song is co-produced by blackbear and shows the immense all-around talent of the band.
It had been nearly a year since last putting out a song. The artistic growth is palpable, and one can only imagine what is still in the vault, awaiting the public’s ears.
If you’re a fan, check out Garrett’s solo cover of the Baby Bash smash, “Suga Suga”, here.
