Electro, Jersey Club, Trap | Lido – Money

Posted by on May 21, 2014

Death be to any sort of standard song structure or formula these days, am I right? The more I reject the cookie-cutter records coming out of the pop and progressive house genres, the more I find and fall in love with stand out tracks like this – Lido’s latest, “Money.” This jersey-club//trap//future-electronic love child is quite literally money. Unpredictable, original, bold, exciting, and absolutely addicting, to sum it up. Easily my favorite so far out of Lido’s growing repertoire, which is soon to grow even more with the release of his debut EP “I Love You” out on Pelican Fly June 9th (which I’ve obviously already pre-ordered, and you should too!)

Now, make it rain.

Bootleg, Electro | Cashmere Cats – Wedding Bells (Lazerdisk Bootleg)

Pretty much any song with artwork like is destined for greatness. Just as good as its artwork is the song, featuring a refreshing twist on Cashmere Cat’s beautiful ballad, Wedding Bells. From start to finish, the song engages your ears incorporating different synths, chords, and even a steel drum, and who doesn’t love a steel drum? Here’s what the men of lazerdisk had to say about the track:

Albums | B.Love — Who Says? [Mixtape]

Who-Says2-2

One of the great teases in our society of late is the ease with which many assume they’ll attain rap stardom. With the growing diversity of emcees’ backgrounds, and, more importantly, the lowering bar of the skill necessary to receive that long-coveted record deal, we’ve entered a time when many think it’s totally plausible they’ll make it big with their rhymes. And that scares me. I’m all for artistic expression, but when an artist is after fame and not necessarily making music for expression’s sake or as a result of their love for the craft, it’s clear. And because the former happens to be the vast majority of what makes up my inbox, here’s a chance for you to learn what the alternative sounds like.

B.Love (one-third of the FNT favorite Suns of Society), is a Cali-based rapper/songwriter/producer with a tremendous amount of versatility, and a desire to keep his sound authentic and unaffected by the industry’s love to keep artist’s boxed in and conformed to a specific sound. On his latest mixtape, Who Says?, B.Love produced the entire thing (with the help of some close friends and colleagues, including Benny Blanco and One Love) and tried to keep the record hard to describe and as broad in sound as possible. The result is a project that—while less unified by consistency in sound—is certainly consistent in terms of its experimentation and the fact that every track sounds like it was made exactly how B.Love intended. It’s a reminder that music is a passion for all of us, first and foremost, and whether or not you come out at the other end as marketable and easily packaged as would be ideal for making that shot at the big time shouldn’t be why you’re doing it. If you’re making records like this, then I have no reason to be scared at all. You can find Who Says? in full for free right here, or support the movement and make the financial gesture here.

Electro, Trap | Lorde – Tennis Court (Flume Remix)

It seems so right that Flume would remix Lorde. Something about her voice and his beats just makes sweet sweet love to my ears. The build up, the drop, the vocals, just everything about this song is fire. I don’t think I need to say more except keep hitting repeat.

Videos | Galantis – You (Official Video)

It’s no secret that we love Galantis. I think we love them so much we’re turning into Seafoxes. How this video doesn’t have more views is beyond me. “You” has been getting seriously support. Kaskade dropped it at Ultra this year, and they ended their set at Coachella with “You”. Lucky us, we finally have the official video directed by Dano Cerny. I think it’s fair to say Galantis is the next big thing.

Viceroy Nelly Ride Wit Me Remix

This is precisely why us East-coasters love Viceroy.  While you spoiled Californian’s, Texan’s, Floridians, and any other Southern-ians have warm weather all year round, us New Englander’s are hitting the beach the minute it hits 60 degrees in April.  The king of “Summertime All The Time” hits us with a filthy remix of vintage Nelly – Ride Wit Me.  If you’re looking for windows down music, regardless of the temperature outside, look no further.

The video for Calvin Harris’ hit record “Summer” is finally here and it’s everything you’d expect from a Calvin Harris music video. I personally love this tune, and I look forward to hearing it being played everywhere this Summer. What are your thoughts? You guys like this new Calvin Harris?
