In honor of his birthday this past weekend, Viceroy has given out a gift to his fans in the form of this remix. It sticks to his summertime, all the time attitude, to music adding and laidback electronic flavor to this indie original from Strange Talk. It may be getting cold outside in the Northern Hemisphere, but that does not mean the tunes have to reflect the falling temperatures.

The original samples the vocals from The Knocks breakout single, “The Feeling” and now those vocals go through another remix treatment. Kastra keeps the indie-dance flavor of the original, but adds an upbeat twist to it with a bed of driving chords over the cheery melody from AObeats & Manila Killa. The Chainsmokers continue with their rapid pace of releases with a remix to The Colourist’s “Fix This”. It has a similar same vibe as many of their previous indie-house tracks but instead of the light, cheery sound that is usually a custom to them, it has a bit of a darker tone. It is an official remix but the label told them they didn’t want the song available for sale or free download so as of right now, it is streaming only.

I’m interrupting my regularly scheduled deep/tech house programming to deliver your ears some absolutely gorgeous indie-pop from one of D.C.’s newest and brightest songbirds. Back from #DTLA after four years at USC, 22 year-old Naimah brings a lyrical, dreamy touch to the two wonderfully assured productions below. The haunting “Wolf & I” — not an Oh Land cover, mind you — is simultaneously delicate and warm, thanks to stirring vocals and a languid yet evocative arrangement. “Bittersweet Refrain” features similarly tight vocal harmonies and heady instrumental builds, but the main highlight is really Naimah’s voice — which has a distinctly ethereal quality without sacrificing power. Par excellence. Naimah will soon be releasing her debut EP Reverie, so this is surely not the last you’ll be hearing from her — in fact, I think it’s safe to say that this is just the beginning.

Electronic, Hip-Hop | The Physics – Play It Off

The Physics, from south Seattle, have released this single called “Play It Off” from the forthcoming album “Digital Wildfire” that will be out on December 13th. The Physics bounce around in the sub genres of hip hop, and I’m not even sure what to call this one. Perhaps indie hiphop? Nonetheless, this track is tasteful and smooth. Mellow drums and rocking melodies flow with the sultry vocals to create a unique track. If you like this track, you can download it for free, and look out for the full album in December!

Saw this video on Facebook, and I’m liking the song a lot. The track is called “Backyard Animals” by Swedish duo Max Elto. The best way to describe their sound is indie-electro, a perfect blend of indie rock and electro. The duo just signed to Big Beat at Atlantic Records, and at the sound of things I’m expecting a bright future for these two! This is a must listen and a must watch!
