Hip-Hop | Pretty Lights – We Must Go On
Posted by Mach on January 26, 2012
Didn’t think this was going to be the next single from Pretty Lights, but I wont complain. Pretty Lights has this track labeled as Hip-Hop Soul, and you can definitely feel that vibe. I can only imagine what some of you are going to say in the chatbox, “That’s not hip-hop,” but what you don’t realize is that hip-hop is not defined by having raps. Although, I would really like to see some rappers do covers of it. This track is just more proof of Pretty Lights’ musical genius. Kick back, light one up, and enjoy.

Dubstep, Electro, Hip-Hop, House | Seven Grams of Snow
Posted by Mach on January 25, 2012
With winter now at full force for those of us that live in the snow fall areas, it only felt right to assemble a shredding playlist for the skiers, snowboarders, and you hard core sledders…how ever many of you still exist. Gurbeats, Dro (longtime fan of FNT, and creator of the art above), and myself threw these tracks together to create this sweet playlist. Seven Grams of Snow provides chill runs for those that want them, while other tracks make you feel like you have the same tiger blood as the great Sheen. The final out come of the list is a great blend of hip-hop, electro, house, and dubstep. Even snuck in a few oldies everyone will have fun listening to again, and also a few tracks I’m sure you haven’t heard. There is no set order to this playlist, shuffle it up anyway you want to suit your snow surfing style. The playlist is spilt up into 3 parts for downloading because there is a total of 64 tracks. Why 64 tracks you ask? Simple, no one wants to listen to the same 2 hours of music all day on the slopes.

Hip-Hop | K’naan ft. Nelly Furtado-Is There Anybody Out There
Posted by ATexas on January 23, 2012
K’Naan is bomb. No songs about how low his chain is or how many biddies he porks, no, just some fulfilling lyrics mixed with huge names. Nelly Furtado throwing down on the chorus mixes with K’naan’s unique style of hip hop. His EP “More Beautiful than Silence” comes out tomorrow and Nelly’s first releases in 6 years is out this spring. Poppy and uplifting “Is There Anybody Out There” embodies both artists’ styles.

Hip-Hop | Sunny & Reeves (of Aer) – We ‘Bout Love/M.I.A.
Posted by dshaq on January 22, 2012
What do we have here? Are one of my favorite indie/hip-hop bands splitting? Luckily no, but the dudes of Aer decided to do some solo projects. First we have Sunny, or David who is the singer, going in over Rihanna’s radio anthem “We Found Love”. Secondly is Reeves, or Carter who handles the rapping, going in on a Soulja Boy beat, which I can’t tell you because i haven’t dabbled into Soulja Boy’s music…I know it’s a shame, sorry. Anyways cop these tracks and look back for more things from Aer.

Alternative, Hip-Hop, RnB | Quincy Kwalae & JT Roach – When It Gets Cold
Posted by Grubeats on January 18, 2012
I’m happy to introduce 23 year old producer/singer/rapper from Bloomington, IN, Quincy Kwalae. As you’ll notice after listening to a variety of Quincy’s music is his versatile style. Producing everything from hip-hop to experimenting with dubstep and all variations in between, he has begun his most recent project with hip-hop/r&b/acoustic artist JT Roach, titled, qollab. “When It Gets Cold” is a savory blend of r&b and alternative hip-hop, as Quincy shows off his smooth rhyming capability while JT opens up with some strong vocals. Judging by this track alone, I’d say this EP has potential to be very impressive.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Yelawolf – Let’s Roll ft. Kid Rock (Music Video)
Posted by Jess on January 11, 2012
I’ve been waiting for this video for a minute now and it’s finally here. In my opinion, “Let’s Roll” will be Yelawolf’s break out hit as it has Top 40 written all over it. The video for it was filmed in Gadsden, Alabama and The Bronx, New York, and also features a cameo appearance by hip-hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc. With production from The Audibles, Mr. Pyro, and Eminem and an amazing hook from Kid Rock, it is hard for me to see this song not being huge.
Hip-Hop | Tupac – Homeboyz (Dirt Monkey Remix)
Posted by Mach on January 1, 2012
Above is Tupac just chilling with his homeboyz…haha. On a serious note, this remix is awesome. Technically it is hip-hop/dubstep, but considering how important Tupac’s verses are to this remix, it didn’t feel right. Doing what every producer should consider when remixing a legend, Dirt Monkey made sure Tupac was the main subject still on this track.
