Hip-Hop | Double Vision Music Marathon pt. 1 – Clock Town

Posted by on March 26, 2012

I present to you the music of Double Vision. These two Boston Boys are doing a mini EP each week to symbolize the four different legs of the Boston Marathon. Today’s is the first one: Clock Town. After hearing this EP, I got to say I’m quite impressed. 2xV brings it on tracks which some display their hip hop side and others more of their pop side. Check this one out and look back for next Monday’s release!

Electro, Girl Fire | Hyper Crush-Werk Me (OVERWERK Remix)

Posted by on March 26, 2012

Okay, I’m a hip-hop girl, like through and through, well, unless you hand me mojito and then I have an obsession with house and electro…and elevated surfaces. It’s kind of an issue. Anyways, after seeing and chilling with Hyper Crush last fall, I developed a respect for the guys (and girl) musically and also for the girls wardrobe. Wait till this remix finally hits, its like a good drug it takes a while and then you’ll be rockin’. PS: NOT CONDONING DRUGS.

Dubstep, Hip-Hop, Mixtapes | ZEDS DEAD & Omar LinX – Victor

Posted by on March 19, 2012

I have been patiently waiting for this mixtape from ZEDS DEAD and Omar LinX. Omar LinX does a lot of work with ZEDS DEAD, cool to see them team up for a free mixtape of some dubstep and hip-hop blended. The production from ZEDS DEAD is great, infusing 90s samples with their bass-lines. A lot of these tracks you will recognize, Omar goes over top tracks like Coffee Break, Eyes On Fire, Rude Boy, and more favorites. After a few listens I honestly couldn’t pick favorites from this, every track is cool, smooth, and perfect in their own way. Omar kills it over ZEDS DEAD’s great work. Don’t forget this thing is free!

Electro | Deadmau5 – Failbait (ft. Cypress Hill)

Posted by on March 16, 2012

Hold onto your hats everyone! Deadmau5 has now taken the plunge into hip-hop. His latest release Failbait features a minimalist beat and verses provided by hip hop legends Cypress Hill. I think this proved it, Deadmau5 can do anything. Sound off in the comments, I want to see what everyone thinks about this.

Hip-hop might not be as good as it use to be in the US, but I think the UK does a crazy job keeping it alive. I mean sure up and comers aren’t doing half a bad job like Logic, Kinetics, not Mac Miller (kid needs some new subject matter), and not Sam Adams (No offense Sam. I love your tunes, but hip-pop isn’t hip-hop). Hip-hop isn’t just rhyming because you can, otherwise you would see my name up on this post. Countless people telling me they just listen to hip-hop beats now, thats half the track what about the rest of it? You have to have a good flow and a decent story to tell. Love that grimy feel you get from the UK rappers like what you get from this Aspects track, enjoy.
