Coming off a recent Grammy nomination for his work on Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, multi-platinium producer Clinton Sparks has been hard at work preparing for the release of his highly anticipated “My Awesome Mixtape 2”. Rumored to be narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, the project will be heavily dance inspired (think Skrillex meets Jim Jones or Sidney Samson meets Rick Ross) and is slated for a Valentine’s day release. Talk about bawse. Now I know what I’m getting my ladyfriend for Valentine’s day. To hold us over until then, Get Familiar was kind enough to drop off a few tracks for our listening pleasure that I’ve included below. If these tracks are any indicator of what’s to come, 2012 could be Clinton Sparks’s break out year as an artist. Get familiar with Clinton’s movement by connecting with him on Facebook and Twitter. Sweet baby Jesus. Somebody call Jimmy Iovine and get this young man a deal. Finding talent in your own backyard. I love it. Hailing from Denton, Texas, Joseph SoMo has steadily been dropping cover videos as of late as he continues to create a respectable buzz for himself. Not only does he crush his vocals, he adds a quick sixteen at the end. For more information about this rising artist, find him on Facebook here. I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this track from New Zealand rapper, David Dallas, which features our boy Tayyib along with Kid Daytona. If you’ve ever wondered what oasis feels like, the Kiwi bred MC takes it back to ’95 to share his feeling of oasis. Like I said, this was the first time I’ve ever heard David Dallas and I’m feeling this guy. Crazy how he masks his accent then brings it back in for certain words. If you’re in NZed reading this, crack a Tui and spark a fern. Stay tuned for Dallas’ album, The Rose Tint, coming very soon!
