Hip-Hop | Voli – Stripes (Prod. by Voli)
Posted by Grubeats on February 1, 2012
Coming out of the gates with fire in his eyes, Voli delivers the first track of 2012 after earning his Stripes in 2011. By the sound of this track and the one prior, Voli is geared up for a busy year, working hard to release a full, all original album. Apart from his lyrical abilities, Voli’s production is getting better and better as well. He samples James Gang’s classic song “Collage” on this one, adding some heavy percussion and brass. Here’s what Voli had to say about this track and the road ahead…
“I’ve been waiting for 2012 to go full blast with the Nouveau Classique movement. My project “The Wall” is definitely coming out this year and I’ll be releasing music from it soon. Thanks to anyone supporting this early. Meantime, enjoy this track to get the year warmed up.”

Hip-Hop | Azad Right – Growing Apart ft. AHE & Jhene Aiko
Posted by Grubeats on February 1, 2012
Azad dropped this new track, Growing Apart, with tranquil production sampling Kendrick Lamar, who Azad has recently shared the stage with. Digging deep, this emotional relationship track is something most all of you can probably relate too. No word on where this track may fall, but expect Azad’s new tape dropping soon.

Hip-Hop, Videos | Maye Star – One Game (Patriots Anthem)

Maye Star, who I introduced back before Christmas, put together a New England Patriots Super Bowl anthem in preparation for this weekends big game. Delivering all the necessary ingredients for a quality sports anthem; a catchy hook, a demoralizing Billy Cundiff line, & Tom Brady. I can’t talk down on Eli Manning and the G men until this game of epic season/career/life/mankind proportions concludes, so I’ll leave it at, may the best team win. I just damn well hope that team is the Patriots. R.I.P. MHK. Gronk it out.
“…to the left, to the left…Billy Cundiff’s field goal” – Maye Star
P.S. Maye’s mixtape, Mayeham, dropping soon!

Hip-Hop, Mixtapes, Rap | Saigon – Warning Shots 3 [Mixtape]
Posted by Grubeats on January 29, 2012
After once vowing to retire after he dropped his first (and only) album,
“Whatever the case may be, We do a census on who is the sickest lyricist, they say me, That’s without a album out, y’all rated me, I drop one and I’mma bow out gracefully” – Saigon
…the Yardfather returns with the third installment of his Warning Shots mixtape, One Foot In The Grave. Hungrier and more determined than ever, Saigitty follows up last years album (one of my personal favorites of the year), The Greatest Story Never Told [Purchase Here], with a cut-throat project once again proving to fans and critics that he’s one of the hardest lyricists out. The tape definitely holds true to his “underground” image, banging heavy with executive production from the one and only, Just Blaze. The Brooklyn native has already confirmed another album is on the way, and judging by the work Sai’s been putting in lately, I’d say it’s coming very soon. Below are a few of my favorite cuts:

Freestyle, Hip-Hop | Los, Lola Monroe, Joe Budden, Action Bronson

The youngin’ coming after the crown, Los, recently made a visit to Shade 45’s Toca Tuesday to spit some bars off the top. This is not the first time I’ve seen Los go bananas off the top, as he has made it a staple of his live shows. If you haven’t copped one of the mixtapes of the year, go download The Crown Ain’t Safe now.
Los’ girlfriend, Lola Monroe, who recently inked a deal with Taylor Gang gives us a freestyle over Drake and Common’s beef song. I downloaded Lola’s last mixtape after hearing some features on Los’ tracks and wasn’t overly impressed. Ironically, I think she sounds similar to Nicki at times, but her self proclamation of “the female Pac” is a bit extreme.

After hearing No Church In The Wild in the trailer for Denzyl’s new flick, Safe House, you start to realize just how incredible the production is on the Watch The Throne project. Joey B goes in over the 88-Keys x Kanye West x Mike Dean beat, owning it as usual.

Action Bronson hit the booth with Statik Selektah, laying down some fresh new bars for his next collaborated project. Nothing out of the ordinary, just quality byproduct of an overweight white dude rapping.

Hip-Hop, Pop | Chris Brown, John Legend x Ludacris, Nicki Minaj

Nicki dropped this record breaking video a couple days back for her first single off her second studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, whose release date recently got pushed back from V-Day until April, 3rd. Although this video broke Vevo’s record for most views in first 24 hours with 4.8million, I can’t say all the feedback has been positive. With more than 2x as many dislikes as likes on Youtube, this video gives Rebecca Black something to strive for. The only thing this video really proved to me, was Nicki’s badunkadunk is 100% au naturalé. Lastly, Nicki confirmed Guetta’s single “Turn Me On” will also be featured on her album.

Breezy Breezy Breezy, committing battery on this dirty electro-pop beat by The Underdogs. Too soon? Sorry RiRi, I love you more anyways. The second single off Brown’s 5th studio album, Fortune, will likely receive the “We Found Love” treatment from the radio.

John Legend, the man who rarely does wrong, recruits Ludachristopher for his new single. This is that baby making music.
P.S. I apologize for the mediocre quality, I’ll update with the mastered once it drops.

Dubstep, Electro, Hip-Hop, House | Seven Grams of Snow
Posted by Mach on January 25, 2012
With winter now at full force for those of us that live in the snow fall areas, it only felt right to assemble a shredding playlist for the skiers, snowboarders, and you hard core sledders…how ever many of you still exist. Gurbeats, Dro (longtime fan of FNT, and creator of the art above), and myself threw these tracks together to create this sweet playlist. Seven Grams of Snow provides chill runs for those that want them, while other tracks make you feel like you have the same tiger blood as the great Sheen. The final out come of the list is a great blend of hip-hop, electro, house, and dubstep. Even snuck in a few oldies everyone will have fun listening to again, and also a few tracks I’m sure you haven’t heard. There is no set order to this playlist, shuffle it up anyway you want to suit your snow surfing style. The playlist is spilt up into 3 parts for downloading because there is a total of 64 tracks. Why 64 tracks you ask? Simple, no one wants to listen to the same 2 hours of music all day on the slopes.
