Hip-Hop | Devin Miles – 412/215 ft. Tayyib Ali

Posted by on February 22, 2012

Pittsburgh native, Devin Miles, was fortunate to have a chance to grab a verse from Tayyib Ali who was breezing through the studio.  Representing their respective area codes, Devil Miles delivers a strong first verse before the prince of Philly comes in with an impressive verse of his own.  Lot of talent coming out of PA these days.  Just to clarify, several blogs have labeled this track as Tayyib’s, but in fact it is Devin’s with a feature from Tay and will not be featured on any of Ali’s upcoming projects.

How appropriate for a Fat (Timeflies) Tuesday.  Nah, that’s not a fat joke.  Res samples the shit out of Jamie Foxx & T-Pain’s 2008 smash track, “Blame It” amping up the BPM’s and adding his own signature sound.  Are there any other artists that bring their recording equipment behind the bar and are able to freestyle all about the world’s finest hard beverages?  If there are, show me now.  Timeflies is on tap, enjoy this one people and be sure to check back for more spring tour dates being added daily!

Hip-Hop, Videos | Maye Star – The Takeover [Video]

Maye Star unleashed the second single off his upcoming mixtape, Mayehem, scheduled to drop sometime in April.  Backed by some light brass, soothing strings, and melodic keys “The Takeover” gives us an introduction into what we’re about to hear from Boston’s own Maye Star.  Maye exercises his ability to rattle off words at a very fast pace, which is something I’d love to see Maye do more often.  #DreamTeam

Hip-Hop, Pop | Paz – One Hundred ft. Tayyib Ali

Posted by on February 18, 2012

First time I’ve heard the name ‘Paz’ who appears to be a pop artist from L.A. with a generous buzz.  Our boy Tayyib delivered a verse for this new track, “One Hundred” which will be featured on Paz’s upcoming mixtape, Young, Broke, & Famous 2.  Tayyib flex’s on the beat with confidence rhyming about keeping it real and steadily bringing in the benjamins.  Paz holds the hook down with his smooth vocals and mainstream sounding rhymes.  I’m surprised I haven’t heard of Paz before, but I think it’s a name we’ll be hearing more and more in the near future.

Pop, Videos | Chris Brown x Rihanna, Eric Turner

Posted by on February 17, 2012

[do action=”youtube” videoid=”eQWG8BVeryU”/]

If you’ve been reading the tabloids the past few days you may have seen the rumors floating around that Chris Brown and Rihanna have/will reunite.  RiRi celebrated her 24th birthday with a celeb packed private party at her Hollywood mansion over the weekend and after some complications getting legal permission to enter, Breezy made his way in to share a slice of Rihanna’s cake.  In addition, Missing Info has confirmed Chris Brown has recorded both a rap verse and a singing verse for the official remix to Rihanna’s single “Birthday Cake” off Talk That Talk.  The song is only 1:18 minutes long right now and almost seems like Rihanna has had this planned for longer than we think.  Monday, Rihanna’s birthday, has potential to ignite a storm of criticism towards Rihanna from the same people who despise CB after he beat Rihanna back in ’09.  At the end of the day, all personal BS aside, if this remix really does happen, it’s going to be a crazy song.

Had to share that, now for the video.  I knew this track was going to be a major hit right when it dropped.  I can’t say Breezy’s Grammy performance gave this track justice (vocally), but his acrobatic footwork was in full effect.  This video has a similar plot to “Yeah x3” where CB blocked off the street and ensued an electric dance festival.

Below is another track I’ve had in my library for several weeks now.  I overlooked it because I only had a radio rip, but I grabbed the CDQ yesterday, found the video, and had to share it.  Eric Turner, a pop singer/songwriter native to Boston linked up with Lupe and UK spitter Tinie Tempah for a catchy new radio jam.

Hip-Hop, RnB | Moufy – Glass Break ft. Masspike Miles

Posted by on February 17, 2012

Boston’s own, Moufy, teams up with fellow Bostonian and MMG member, Masspike Miles, for the first single off his upcoming EP, Humble Season, dropping later this spring.  Moufy definitely toned down his energetic sound on this one, retaining the emotion but delivering a smoother relationship track over the Louis Lü Balz Bell beat.  In my opinion Moufy is near his best when he slows it down and focuses on the lyrical message of the song as he’s done on “Miss Newon” & “Whispers of a Cloud”.  Judging by the success Moufy saw in 2011, I can see this EP doing some serious numbers.

Drum & Bass | Camo & Krooked – Hot Pursuit (Roebuck Remix)

Posted by on February 16, 2012

FNT needs more drum & bass, am I right? Roebuck is a drum & bass producer from Sheffield, Britain. I just fell upon his works today, more specifically this new remix of his that he just dropped. This remix is incredible, his intro is cool and ones the beat drops in it just takes you away. Great melodic instrumental drum & bass.
