Events | South by Southwest 2013
Posted by mimada on March 9, 2013
Next week, Fresh New Tracks will take on South By Southwest, the self-proclaimed “premier destination for all discovery” that sets the trends of music for the next year to come. SXSW is a film, music, and interactive festival that takes over the city of Austin for 10 outrageous straight days. The music festival is comprised of official and unofficial (usually free) shows, rooftop parties, party boats and buses and no to mention the most interesting collection of people you will ever see.
Allow us to give you a little taste of what went down last year…
Stayed tuned for Sev and Mimada’s Complete What-To-Do and How-To-Do-It guide after the break.
Preview, Progressive House | Vicetone Ft. Collin McLoughlin – Heartbeat
Posted by Mach on February 25, 2013
FNT’s favorite vocalist teams up with one of the top up and coming House producers to bring us one unbelievably beautiful Progressive House original. Monstercat has been on a roll with releases this year. Vicetone and Collin don’t wait long on this track to collide, sending emotion throughout your body and mind. You can tell that Collin has been tuning his voice into something well worth hearing daily on the radio. I don’t think the two could have asked for a better collaboration. “Heartbeat” releases in just a few days on March 1st.
Chill, Hip-Hop | Jacob Es – Swimming in the Sublime (Mixtape)
Posted by J_Salzer on February 6, 2013
This post is about two weeks late, and for that I apologize. But I’ve been hella busy, and I’m just having the chance to sit down and take a listen to Jacob Es’ latest mixtape. I’ve been listening to Jacob’s music since I first started blogging about a year and a half ago. I’ve seen steady improvement from Jacob, and that’s one of the main things I look for in upcoming artists.
On his tape, Swimming in the Sublime, Jake picks up solid features from Reeves of Aer and FNT favorite Jetpack Jones. The production is solid throughout, with up-tempo, positive beats without too much synthesizers and other electronic instruments we often hear on the radio. Just looking at the album cover, you’ll get a feel for where this mixtape will take you. Check out the mixtape in it’s entirety below via soundcloud.

Every so often an artist comes along that needs to be paid attention to, regardless of their genre. Boston-based singer/songwriter Adam Jensen, who has been feature on FNT before (HERE), is one of those artists.
His debut EP “Head on a String” showcases his phenomenal voice and ability to master so many sounds. All five (5) songs on the EP were written by Jensen, except “Lost Without You” which he co-wrote with Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) and Nashville radio DJ, Dave Harris. “Lost Without You” was produced by Grammy Award nominee Aaron Johnson (The Fray). “Monsters” was produced by Barrett Yeretsian, best known for producing Christina Perri’s multi-platinum selling single “Jar of Hearts” and is absolutely on the same level. Adam then teamed up to co-produce with the former Boston Music Award “Producer of the Year” winner, Benny Grotto, on “Cannonball” and “Redemption Man” and Boston-based producer Taylor Barefoot on “Dead Man Walking.”
The EP is now available on iTunes and is a must buy for any music fan. Talent is talent. Currently it is at #9 on the singer/songwriter charts and climbing.
Chill, Hip-Hop, RnB | Tinashe ft. Chance the Rapper – Ecstasy (Remix)
Posted by J_Salzer on January 29, 2013
I must admit, when I first heard this, I was reminded of Drake and Aaliyah’s Enough Said. I mean that as a compliment, because that was one of my favorite R&B/rap remixes of 2012. Something about a beautiful voice paired with one beautiful, smooth, verse delivered by a rapper with talent does it for me. To be frank, I like this song more than I like Enough Said. I think Tinashe’s voice is beautiful, sensual, and soothing. I can’t say enough about Chancelor Bennett. Ever since FNT’s own Dshaq put me on him about a year ago, I’ve never been disappointed by his music, and this verse is no different. Big things are happening for Chance in 2013, that’s a promise. Love to Pigeons and Planes for premiering this beauty and for the embed code below. Download the original song and Tinashe’s full project here.
Apparel | Knot Belt Co KickStarter Campaign
Posted by BIGLIFE on January 28, 2013
Sometimes FreshNewTracks isn’t just about, well, fresh new tracks. And sometimes friends of FreshNewTracks are looking to accomplish huge feats that require help. Well this is where those two roads converge. If you’re a long-time loyal FNT fan, you may remember the gig I did about Knot Belt Co in the past. If not, you’ll get a nice introduction above/below.
Nick Manella of Knot Belts is trying to blow his side project out of the water by pushing his belts and accessories into full production mode. I’m here to help him and help you. The video will fill you in on the details, but there’s nothing like a product that has been made with passion. You can’t tell me you’d wear a belt made in China over a belt made here in the states…
If you’re feeling adventurous, charitable, or intelligent, make a pledge on KickStarter and help bring quality belts to the masses.
