If I’m going to be honest, which I am, Dillon Francis’ remix of “Suit & Tie” was overrated. It was just a lot of noises, there wasn’t much to it. Masq has been a reoccurring artist to FNT for a few months now, mainly for all the cool bootlegs he has been doing. I was a little nervous when I played this track, I couldn’t imagine what anyone would want to do with this remix. Masq of course defeated my doubts and ended up showing us one nasty bootleg.

Thomas Gold has been one of the most consistent guys in dance music. His live sets are always some of the best mainstage material, with impeccable mixing and his signature mashups that keep you on your toes at all times. He has become a favorite of Axwell and Axtone’s, recently putting together the Axtone 2012 compilation that featured plenty of his own material, new and old, in addition to showing off the label’s impressive recent discography, while also dusting off a critically acclaimed Essential Mix to finish off 2012. He has been a cornerstone of recent festivals such as UMF, Coachella & EDC New York and has taken his Fanfare tour all across the globe. He will be at Tomorrowland, for all you lucky festival goers who snuck in there in during the one second sellout. His remix for OneRepublic’s “Feel Again” was recently released for free, to the delight of everyone who had been waiting many months for it to be released. What he has coming up on the docket is relatively unknown, but he is known for his quality with each release and as he stated in terms of his productions, “There will be some surprises in 2013”.
We had the chance to talk to Thomas Gold a few months back about his plans for 2013, including the OneRepublic remix, his first gig, weird food experiences, possible label ventures and more. Check out his set from Ultra below and the interview after the jump.

Coming off of the release of his 3 track “Machine Land EP“, the burgeoning talent has lived up to the lofty expectations set for him this year so far. In this 3 hour event, you will see opening sets from rising Dutch duo Sick Individuals, whose growing catalog of remixes have become the favorites of many, and New Jersey duo, Cash Cash, whose “Alive” remix has put them squarely in the spotlight of the dance music world and catapulted them to getting signed by Big Beat Records. Sev and I have a real treat for our fans of R Rated this week. Filthy producer, Masq, has been kind enough to provide FNT with an epic Neuro-hop bootleg for the fans.
Amon Tobin is a legend throughout the music community, having lead to the creation of some of the most epic bass tunes. When I saw that Masq took on “Lost & Found” from Amon Tobin’s most recent album “Isam” I was instantly excited. That excitement was soon satisfied with one of the sickest remixes I have ever heard of Amon Tobin. Masq is one of the most underrated producers I have laid my ears upon, keep an eye out for him in the future.

American producer (we can’t even try to put him in one genre), Andrew Bayer may seem like a new name to many of you, but this veteran has been in the dance music industry for 10 years now and finally getting the credit he deserves. Starting back in 2003 when he was just a teen in the now on hiatus group, the Signalrunners with Alan Nimmo, before striking out on his own in 2008. An alum on Berklee College Of Music in Boston, Massachusetts (we are all pulling for you guys), he is one of the few DJ / producers with a professional music degree, an experience he calls “amazing for my growth as a producer”.
Andrew Bayer’s music crosses genres and styles. His 2011 artist album, “It’s Artificial” made waves with its wide variety of styles, from glitch-hop to silky smooth techno to eclectic electronica and progressive, that made the whole experience very cerebral. The experimental 8 track debut artist album signaled his arrival as a solo artist and put the world on notice that he was to be reckoned with. His upcoming album “If It Were You, We’d Never Leave” is a beautiful piece of work. Set to release April 22nd, it may be my favorite album since “Group Therapy”, I am willing to go that far. The subtle layers and samples that create the soothing emotions and sounds are unparalleled to what other producers are putting out right now. You can download “It’s Going To Be Fine” for free here on XLR8R, but to be honest it would be a disservice to the track because this album needs to be heard as one contiguous piece of music, just as it was originally constructed, and each single by themselves will not make as much sense without the context of the album.
